Objective: Lumbo-pelvic-hip complex muscle training is considered a crucial component of exercise rehabilitation for postpartum women with pelvic girdle pain (PGP). However, there is a paucity of research evidence regarding the morphological changes and contraction function of these muscles in postpartum women with PGP. Understanding the alterations in lumbo-pelvic-hip complex muscles function associated with PGP, is crucial for tailoring effective rehabilitation strategies and promoting optimal postpartum recovery.

Bazhen Decoction (Eight Treasures Decoction) has demonstrated efficacy in the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC), yet the active ingredients in it and the mechanisms underlying their anti-cancer properties are not well understood. Through network pharmacology, the effective components of Bazhen Decoction against CRC and their corresponding key genes were delineated. Molecular docking was executed to identify the active component targeting the key gene CXCL8, which led to the discovery of Quercetin.

Allergic diseases and T2DM: a bidirectional multivariable Mendelian randomization study and mediation analysis.

J Asthma

November 2024

Department of Hematology, The Third Affiliated People's Hospital of Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, The Third People's Hospital of Fujian Province, Fuzhou, China.

Background: Clinical studies involving observation have uncovered a mutual relationship between allergic disorders and diabetes, yet the precise causal link remains undetermined.

Methods: We conducted two-sample bidirectional Mendelian randomization analyses using single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with allergic conditions (asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis) from genome-wide studies and SNPs related to type 2 diabetes from FinnGen. Initially, we evaluated the causal link between allergic disorders and type 2 diabetes through a univariate Mendelian randomization study, incorporating inverse variance weighting, MR-Egger, and the weighted median estimator.

In a multicenter case-control investigation, we assessed the efficacy of the Electrooculogram Signal Analysis (EOG-SA) method, which integrates attention-related visual evocation, electrooculography, and nonlinear analysis, for distinguishing between intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and typical development (TD) in children. Analyzing 127 participants (63 IDD, 64 TD), we applied nonlinear dynamics for feature extraction. Results indicated EOG-SA's capability to distinguish IDD, with higher template thresholds and Correlation Dimension values correlating with clinical severity.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic idiopathic inflammatory disease affecting the gastrointestinal tract. Although paeonol has been used for treating UC due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we investigated the mechanisms of paeonol's action on UC by conducting in-vitro and in-vivo studies using NCM460 cells and RAW264.

Department of Radiation Oncology, Fujian Medical University Union Hospital, Fujian Key Laboratory of Intelligent Imaging and Precision Radiotherapy for Tumors (Fujian Medical University), Clinical Research Center for Radiology and Radiotherapy of Fujian Province (Digestive, Hematological and Breast Malignancies), Fuzhou, China.

Article Synopsis
  • About 10%-30% of Hodgkin's lymphoma patients experience relapse or treatment resistance after first-line therapy, making subsequent treatment difficult, particularly after failure of Brentuximab vedotin (BV) and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs).
  • A study analyzed 19 patients with relapsed/refractory Hodgkin's lymphoma who underwent radiotherapy after BV or ICI failure, finding a 100% overall response rate and a median duration of response of 17.2 months.
  • The 1-year progression-free survival and overall survival rates were 84.4% and 100%, respectively, with no serious adverse events reported, demonstrating that radiotherapy is both effective and safe for this patient group.

Fujian Provincial Key Laboratory on Hematology, Fujian Medical Center of Hematology, Fujian Institute of Hematology, Clinical Research Center for Hematological Malignancies of Fujian Province, Fujian Medical University Union Hospital, Fuzhou, 350001, China.

Objective: YAP1 plays a dual role as an oncogene and tumor suppressor gene in several tumors; differentiating between these roles may depend on the YAP1 phosphorylation pattern. The specific function of YAP1 in B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), however, is currently unclear. Thus, in the present study, the role of YAP1 in B-ALL was investigated using relevant cell lines and patient datasets.

R. China.

Article Synopsis
  • Radiotherapy (RT) is a local treatment option for patients with refractory or relapsed aggressive B-cell lymphomas, but the effectiveness of hypofractionated RT had not been previously confirmed.
  • A study analyzed 30 patients who received hypofractionated RT, showing a high objective response rate (90%) and complete response rate (80%), with promising one-year overall survival (81.8%) and progression-free survival (66.3%).
  • The findings indicate that hypofractionated RT is both effective and tolerable, particularly for patients with localized residual disease, as no serious side effects were reported.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on understanding how non-invasive biomarkers can predict the risk of portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) related to hepatitis B virus (HBV) and aims to create predictive models for patient prognosis.
  • A total of 1026 patients were analyzed, and key independent risk factors for PVTT identified include male gender, specific biomarker values, and tumor characteristics, with models showing strong predictive capabilities across multiple cohorts.
  • The findings suggest that these non-invasive biomarkers could provide reliable assessments of PVTT risk and prognosis for HBV-related HCC patients who do not yet have PVTT.

Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) is a senile brain lesion caused by the abnormal structure and function of arterioles, venules and capillaries in the aging brain. The etiology of CSVD is complex, and disease is often asymptomatic in its early stages. However, as CSVD develops, brain disorders may occur, such as stroke, cognitive dysfunction, dyskinesia and mood disorders, and heart, kidney, eye and systemic disorders.
