Background: Clinical studies involving observation have uncovered a mutual relationship between allergic disorders and diabetes, yet the precise causal link remains undetermined.

Methods: We conducted two-sample bidirectional Mendelian randomization analyses using single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with allergic conditions (asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis) from genome-wide studies and SNPs related to type 2 diabetes from FinnGen. Initially, we evaluated the causal link between allergic disorders and type 2 diabetes through a univariate Mendelian randomization study, incorporating inverse variance weighting, MR-Egger, and the weighted median estimator.

Quantifying attention in children with intellectual and developmental disabilities through multicenter electrooculogram signal analysis.

In a multicenter case-control investigation, we assessed the efficacy of the Electrooculogram Signal Analysis (EOG-SA) method, which integrates attention-related visual evocation, electrooculography, and nonlinear analysis, for distinguishing between intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and typical development (TD) in children. Analyzing 127 participants (63 IDD, 64 TD), we applied nonlinear dynamics for feature extraction. Results indicated EOG-SA's capability to distinguish IDD, with higher template thresholds and Correlation Dimension values correlating with clinical severity.

Paeonol alleviates ulcerative colitis by modulating PPAR-γ and nuclear factor-κB activation.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic idiopathic inflammatory disease affecting the gastrointestinal tract. Although paeonol has been used for treating UC due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we investigated the mechanisms of paeonol's action on UC by conducting in-vitro and in-vivo studies using NCM460 cells and RAW264.

Methods: This study enrolled GC patients who underwent preoperative ultrasound examination. Manual segmentation of the region of interest (ROI) was performed by an experienced radiologist to extract radiomics features using the Pyradiomics software.

Background: Neoadjuvant immunotherapy has ushered in a new era of perioperative treatment for resectable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, large-scale data for verifying the efficacy and optimizing the therapeutic strategies of neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy in routine clinical practice are scarce.

Methods: NeoR-World (NCT05974007) was a multicenter, retrospective cohort study involving patients who received neoadjuvant immunotherapy plus chemotherapy or chemotherapy alone in routine clinical practice from 11 medical centers in China between January 2010 and March 2022.

LATS1 Promotes B-ALL Tumorigenesis by Regulating YAP1 Phosphorylation and Subcellular Localization.

Objective: YAP1 plays a dual role as an oncogene and tumor suppressor gene in several tumors; differentiating between these roles may depend on the YAP1 phosphorylation pattern. The specific function of YAP1 in B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), however, is currently unclear. Thus, in the present study, the role of YAP1 in B-ALL was investigated using relevant cell lines and patient datasets.

Thyroid function, renal function, and depression: an association study.

Objective: To investigate the correlations between thyroid function, renal function, and depression.

Methods: Clinical data of 67 patients with Major depressive disorder (MDD) and 36 healthy control subjects between 2018 and 2021 were collected to compare thyroid and renal function. Thyroid and renal functions of depressed patients were then correlated with the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD) and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAMA).

Background: Extramedullary disease usually implies a dismal outcome in relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma patients, and requires novel treatment approaches. We designed a trial using Selinexor, a nuclear export protein 1 inhibitor, together with anti-B cell maturation antigen (BCMA) chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell product CT103A to treat these patients, and describe the first two cases in this report.

Methods: Selinexor was administered with a novel two-step schedule in bridging therapy and in maintenance.

FUN14 domain-containing protein 1 (FUNDC1) plays a fundamental role in mitochondrial autophagy and apoptosis in cigarette smoke extract (CSE)-treated BEAS-2B cells. The present study investigated the mechanism of action of FUNDC1 in mitochondrial dysfunction and apoptosis in CSE-treated BEAS-2B cells.

Introduction: Organ transplant recipients are at increased risk of developing pulmonary cryptococcosis (PC) due to weakened cell-mediated immunity caused by immunosuppressors. However, the nonspecific symptoms associated with PC can often lead to misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of data from 23 kidney transplant recipients with PC between April 2006 to January 2021.

To investigate the factors influencing total bilirubin elevation and its correlation with gene polymorphism in the early postoperative period of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS). 104 cases with portal hypertension and esophageal variceal hemorrhage (EVB) treated with elective TIPS treatment were selected as the study subjects and were divided into a bilirubin-elevated group and a normal bilirubin group according to the total bilirubin elevation level during the early postoperative period. Univariate analysis and logistic regression were used to analyze the factors influencing total bilirubin elevation in the early postoperative period.

We investigated the value of peripheral serological inflammatory indicators and their combination in predicting the prognosis of patients with advanced NSCLC treated with checkpoint inhibitors.

Radiomics signature for prediction of long-term survival and recurrence patterns in patients with gastric cancer after radical gastrectomy: A multicenter study.

Background: This study aimed to develop and validate a radiomics score to predict the long-term survival and patterns of recurrence of gastric cancer (GC).

Methods: A total of 513 patients who underwent radical gastrectomy for GC after curative resection between 2008 and 2016 at two institutions were analyzed. A radiomics score was generated using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator Cox regression model on 327 patients and was validated in 186 patients.

Objective: To observe the effect of acupotomy on the expression of Beclin-1, Bcl-2 and Caspase-3 in the cartilage tissue in rabbits with knee osteoarthritis (KOA), so as to explore its mechanism underling improvement of KOA.

Methods: Twenty-four healthy male New Zealand rabbits were randomly and equally divided into blank control, model and acupotomy groups, with 8 rabbits in each group. By using the modified Videman's methods, the KOA model was established by left hind limb immobilization with a plaster cast for 6 weeks.
