The P-glycoprotein (ABCB1)-mediated multidrug resistance (MDR) has emerged as a significant impediment to the efficacy of cancer chemotherapy in clinical therapy, which could promote the development of effective agents for MDR reversal. In this work, we reported the exploration of novel pyrazolo [1,5-a]pyrimidine derivatives as potent reversal agents capable of enhancing the sensitivity of ABCB1-mediated MDR MCF-7/ADR cells to paclitaxel (PTX). Among them, compound 16q remarkably increased the sensitivity of MCF-7/ADR cells to PTX at 5 μM (IC = 27.

Background: Spontaneous thought is a universal, complex, and heterogeneous cognitive activity that significantly impacts mental activity and strongly correlates with mental disorders.
Methods: Utilizing the think-aloud method, we captured spontaneous thoughts during rest from 38 diagnosed with depression, alongside 36 healthy controls and 137 healthy individuals. Through a comprehensive assessment of various dimensions of thought content, we compared thought content between individuals with depression and healthy controls, and between healthy women and men.

Genetic epilepsy with febrile seizures plus (GEFS+) is a genetic epilepsy syndrome characterized by a marked hereditary tendency inherited as an autosomal dominant trait. Patients with GEFS+ may develop typical febrile seizures (FS), while generalized tonic-clonic seizures (GTCSs) with fever commonly occur between 3 months and 6 years of age, which is generally followed by febrile seizure plus (FS+), with or without absence seizures, focal seizures, or GTCSs. GEFS+ exhibits significant genetic heterogeneity, with polymerase chain reaction, exon sequencing, and single nucleotide polymorphism analyses all showing that the occurrence of GEFS+ is mainly related to mutations in the gamma-aminobutyric acid type A receptor gamma 2 subunit (GABRG2) gene.

Extensive research has shown that PR domain 16 (PRDM16) plays a critical role in adipose tissue metabolism, including processes such as browning and thermogenesis of adipocytes, beigeing of adipocytes, and adipogenic differentiation of myoblasts. These functions have been associated with diseases such as obesity and diabetes. Additionally, PRDM16 has been correlated with various other conditions, including migraines, heterochromatin abnormalities, metabolic syndrome, cardiomyopathy, sarcopenia, nonsyndromic cleft lip, and essential hypertension, among others.

Lung cancer is a leading cause of cancer death worldwide, with high incidence and poor survival rates. Cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) technology has emerged as a promising therapeutic approach for cancer treatment, inducing oxidative stress in malignant tissues without causing thermal damage. However, the role of CAP in regulating lung cancer cell ferroptosis remains unclear.

Background: The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is linked to both the development and progression of diabetes, while obesity remains a significant risk factor for this disease. However, the relationship between the TyG index and overweight or obese diabetes remains unclear.
Methods: This study was a cross-sectional analysis of data from 40,633 participants with body mass index (BMI) ≥ 24 kg/m who were screened from January 2018 to December 2023 at Henan Provincial People's Hospital.

Objective: To identify the predictive value of the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) on admission for intrapartum maternal fever in parturients undergoing epidural analgesia (EA).
Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, propensity score matching (PSM) was applied to address covariates. Univariate and multivariate regression analyses were implemented in sequence to find out the factors influencing intrapartum fever.

Bladder cancer (BC) exhibits diversity in clinical outcomes and is characterized by heterogeneity. Anoikis, a form of programmed cell death, plays a crucial role in facilitating tumor invasion and metastasis. This study comprehensively investigated the genetic landscape of BC progression, identifying 300 differentially expressed Anoikis-related genes (DE-ARGs) through in-depth analysis of the GSE13507 datasets.

Ovarian cancer is one of the most common gynecologic malignancies. Recurrence and metastasis often occur after treatment, and it has the highest mortality rate of all gynecological tumors. Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are a small population of cells with the ability of self-renewal, multidirectional differentiation, and infinite proliferation.

Background: Among bone diseases, osteoporosis-like skeleton, such as trabecular thinning, fracture and so on, is the main pathological change of cadmium-induced osteoporosis(Cd-OP), accompanied by brittle bone and increased fracture rate. However, the mechanism underlying cadmium-induced osteoporosis has remained elusive. Compound Lurong Jiangu Capsule (CLJC) is an experienced formula for the treatment of bone diseases, which has the effect of tonifying kidney and strengthening bones, promoting blood circulation and relieving pain.

Human adenovirus (HAdV) pneumonia poses a major health burden for young children, however, factors that contribute to disease severity remain elusive. We analyzed immune cells from bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) of children with HAdV pneumonia and found that CD19CD21 B cells were significantly enriched in the BAL and were associated with increased autoantibody concentrations and disease severity. Myeloid cells, PD-1CD4 T helper cells and CD21 B cells formed tertiary lymphoid structures within the respiratory tracts.

Focal adhesion kinase (FAK) is considered as a pivotal intracellular non-receptor tyrosine kinase, and has garnered significant attention as a promising target for anticancer drug development. As of early 2024, a total of 12 drugs targeting FAK have been approved for clinical or preclinical studies worldwide, including three PROTAC degraders. In recent three years (2021-2023), significant progress has been made in designing targeted FAK anticancer agents, including the development of a novel benzenesulfofurazan type NO-releasing FAK inhibitor and the first-in-class dual-target inhibitors simultaneously targeting FAK and HDACs.
