To evaluate the feasibility and clinical significance of the left perinephric fat sac vein (PFSV) as an anatomical landmark in locating left adrenal gland (LAD) during retroperitoneal laparoscopic left adrenalectomy (RLLA). In this study, a total of 36 patients who underwent RLLA were enrolled from February 2019 and March 2021. By following a vein vessel on the internal surface of perinephric fat sac (PFS), known as PFSV, LAD was searched finally along the upper edge of this vein.

Department of Pediatric Surgery, Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Research in Structural Birth Defect Disease, Guangdong Provincial Clinical Research Center for Child Health, Guangzhou Institute of Pediatrics, Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center, Guangzhou Medical University, Guangzhou, China.

Chronic lung diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), involve progressive and irreversible destruction and pathogenic remodeling of airways and have become the leading health care burden worldwide. Pulmonary tissue has extensive capacities to launch injury-responsive repairing programs (IRRPs) to replace the damaged or dead cells upon acute lung injuries. However, the IRRPs are frequently compromised in chronic lung diseases.

RNA methylation, an epigenetic modification that does not alter gene sequence, may be important to diverse biological processes. Protein regulators of RNA methylation include "writers," "erasers," and "readers," which respectively deposit, remove, and recognize methylated RNA. RNA methylation, particularly N6-methyladenosine (m6A), 5-methylcytosine (m5C), N3-methylcytosine (m3C), N1-methyladenosine (m1A) and N7-methylguanosine (m7G), has been suggested as disease therapeutic targets.

tRNA-histidine guanyltransferase 1-like protein (THG1L), located in the mitochondria, plays a crucial role in the tRNA maturation process. Dysfunction of THG1L results in abnormal mitochondrial tRNA modification and neurodevelopmental disorders. To date, few studies have focused on THG1L-related cerebellar ataxia.

Electronic address:

Neddylation is a protein modification process similar to ubiquitination, carried out through a series of activating (E1), conjugating (E2), and ligating (E3) enzymes. This process has been found to be overactive in various cancers, leading to increased oncogenic activities. Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme 2 M (UBE2M) is one of two neddylation enzymes that play a vital role in this pathway.

Evaluation of the clinical utility of extended non-invasive prenatal testing in the detection of chromosomal aneuploidy and microdeletion/microduplication.

Eur J Med Res

August 2023

Prenatal Diagnosis Center, The Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Henan Province, No. 7 Front Kangfu Street, Er'qi District, Zhengzhou, 450052, China.

Background: With the development of whole-genome sequencing technology, non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) has been applied gradually to screen chromosomal microdeletions and microduplications that cannot be detected by traditional karyotyping. However, in NIPT, some false positives and false negatives occur. This study aimed to investigate the applicability of extended NIPT (NIPT-PLUS) in the detection of chromosomal aneuploidy and microdeletion/microduplication syndrome (MMS).

Background: Previous studies have reported that after laparoscopic cystectomy of ovarial endometrioma, the ovarian response to gonadotropin (Gn) significantly decreased. However, for patients with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) after ovarian surgery, how to choose the most appropriate controlled ovarian hyperstimulation protocol has not been concluded. Compared with the traditional agonist regimen, the gonadotropin (Gn)-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist, microstimulation, and progestin-primed ovarian stimulation (PPOS) protocols are simple to operate and have a shorter cycle, which are often used in patients with DOR.

Identification of novel tumor-associated antigens and evaluation of a panel of autoantibodies in detecting oral cancer.

BMC Cancer

August 2023

Department of Epidemiology and Statistics, College of Public Health, Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou, Henan Province, 450001, China.

Background: We aimed to identify tumor-associated antigen (TAA) biomarkers through bioinformatic analysis and experimental verification, and to evaluate a panel of autoantibodies against tumor-associated antigens (TAAbs) for the detection of oral cancer (OC).

Methods: GEO and TCGA databases were used to screen significantly up-regulated genes related to OC, and protein-protein interaction (PPI) analysis and Cystoscope software were used to identify key genes. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect the expression levels of autoantibodies in 173 OC patients and 173 normal controls, and binary logistic regression analysis was used to build a diagnostic model.

Objective: To explore the relationships among self-perceived burden, resourcefulness and depression, and to study further whether resourcefulness mediates the effects of self-perceived burden on depression in young and middle-aged stroke patients.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 1050 young and middle-aged stroke patients. We used a general demographic questionnaire, Self-Perceived Burden Scale (SPBS), Resourcefulness Scale© (RS) and Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) to assess self-perceived burden, resourcefulness, and depression.

August 2023

State Key Laboratory of Reproductive Medicine and Offspring Health, Department of Histology and Embryology, Suzhou Municipal Hospital, Gusu School, Suzhou Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, China.

Background: Oocyte maturation arrest results in female infertility and the genetic etiology of this phenotype remains largely unknown. Previous studies have proven that cyclins play a significant role in the cell cycle both in meiosis and mitosis. Cyclin B3 (CCNB3) is one of the members of the cyclin family and its function in human oocyte maturation is poorly understood.

A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate recent epidemiological evidence on the association of air pollution with congenital anomalies (CAs). Of 11,014 records, 49 were finally included in this meta-analysis. Per 10 μg/m increase in air pollutant, PM exposure during the 1 month of pregnancy and at the first trimester (T1) was associated with increased overall CAs.

September 2023

National Health Commission Key Laboratory of Male Reproduction and Genetics, Guangzhou 510600, China.

Exposure to fine particulate matter (PM < 2.5 μm in diameter [PM]) may accelerate human sperm quality decline, although research on this association is limited. Our objective was to investigate the relationship between exposure to the chemical constituents of PM air pollution and decreased sperm quality and to further explore the exposure-response relationship.

Background: Air pollution may impair male fertility, but it remains controversial whether air pollution affects semen quality until now.

Objectives: We undertake a meta-analysis to explore potential impacts of six pollutants exposure during the entire window (0-90 days prior to ejaculation) and critical windows (0-9, 10-14, and 70-90 days prior to ejaculation) on semen quality.

Methods: Seven databases were retrieved for original studies on the effects of six pollutants exposure for 90 days prior to ejaculation on semen quality.

To investigate the effect of preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidies (PGT-A) on pregnancy outcome and perinatal outcome of single live birth in patients with unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion (URSA). The clinical data of 351 cycles of the first transfer of a blastocyst through whole embryo freezing in the Reproductive Center of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from 2019 to 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. According to whether PGT-A was performed before the transfer, the patients were divided into two groups: the PGT-A group (160 cycles) and the control group (191 cycles) were treated with in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm microinjection (IVF/ICSI).
