Osteosarcoma is a common primary malignant tumor of bone, and doxorubicin is one of the most widely used therapeutic drugs. While the problem of doxorubicin resistance limits the long-term treatment benefits in osteosarcoma patients. The role of miRNAs and their target genes in osteosarcoma have become increasingly prominent.

RNA 5-methylcytosine (m5C) is an abundant chemical modification in mammalian RNAs and plays crucial roles in regulating vital physiological and pathological processes, especially in cancer. However, the dysregulation of m5C and its underlying mechanisms in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remain unclear. Here we identified that NSUN2, a key RNA m5C methyltransferase, is highly expressed in NSCLC tumor tissue.

Key Laboratory of Molecular Biophysics of the Ministry of Education, College of Life Science and Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China. Electronic address:

Pre-mRNA splicing is a precise regulated process and is crucial for system development and homeostasis maintenance. Mutations in spliceosomal components have been found in various hematopoietic malignancies (HMs) and have been considered as oncogenic derivers of HMs. However, the role of spliceosomal components in normal and malignant hematopoiesis remains largely unknown.

Male fertility and metabolic disorders, including obesity and diabetes, are closely connected. Since hyperuricemia and metabolic syndrome are strongly related, male fertility and hyperuricemia may, to some degree, be associated. According to recent studies, hyperuricemia imposes various effects on sex hormones, semen quality, and male erectile dysfunction.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a serious inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) with high morbidity and mortality worldwide. As the traditional diagnostic techniques have various limitations in the practice and diagnosis of early ulcerative colitis, it is necessary to develop new diagnostic models from molecular biology to supplement the existing methods. In this study, we developed a machine learning-based synthesis to construct an artificial intelligence diagnostic model for ulcerative colitis, and the correctness of the model is verified using an external independent dataset.

Background: Facial nerves have the potential for regeneration following injury, but this process is often challenging and slow. Schwann cells (SCs) are pivotal in this process. Bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSC)-derived exosomes promote tissue repair through paracrine action, with hypoxic preconditioning enhancing their effects.

Purpose: This study investigated the safety and effectiveness of oocyte vitrification by comparing the clinical pregnancy and perinatal outcomes between transfer cycles of vitrified oocytes and those of vitrified embryos.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted to analyze the clinical data of patients who underwent cleavage-stage embryo transfer at the Department of Reproductive Medicine between January 2011 and June 2021. Seventy-seven transfer cycles of fresh cleavage-stage embryos developed from vitrified-thawed oocytes (oocyte vitrification group) and 2170 transfer cycles of vitrified-thawed cleavage-stage embryos developed from fresh oocytes (embryo vitrification group) were included.

Subchorionic hematoma: Research status and pathogenesis (Review).

Med Int (Lond)

January 2024

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, The Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou, Henan 450052, P.R. China.

Subchorionic hematoma (SCH) is a hematoma in which blood accumulates between the chorion and decidua basalis due to the separation of the chorion and decidua basalis. It is common in patients with threatened abortion in early pregnancy and is mainly detected by ultrasound. SCH mainly manifests as an hypoechoic or anechoic crescent-shaped fluid dark area on ultrasound images.

Neuronal BST2: A Pruritic Mediator alongside Protease-Activated Receptor 2 in the IL-27-Driven Itch Pathway.

J Invest Dermatol

August 2024

School of Biotechnology, Faculty of Science and Health, Dublin City University, Dublin, Ireland. Electronic address:

Chronic itch is a common and complex symptom often associated with skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis (AD). Although IL-27 is linked to AD, its role and clinical significance in itch remain undefined. We sought to investigate IL-27 function in itch using tissue-specific transgenic mice, various itch models, behavior scoring, RNA sequencing, and cytokine/kinase array.

Objective: The study aims to investigate the levels of serum NLRP3 along with its effector molecules (Caspase-1, IL-1β, and IL-18) in the mid-pregnancy in pregnant women with hyperglycemia, and explore the relationship between NLRP3, along with its effector molecules (Caspase-1, IL-1β, and IL-18) and insulin resistance, as well as pregnancy outcomes.

Methods: The levels of serum NLRP3 along with its effector molecules (Caspase-1, IL-1β, and IL-18) in three groups of pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), pregestational diabetes mellitus (PGDM) and normal glucose tolerance (NGT) were measured in mid-pregnancy, and their relationship with insulin resistance and pregnancy outcomes was analyzed. The ROC curve was also used to evaluate the predictive value of serum NLRP3 inflammasome and its effector molecules for pregnancy outcomes.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) involved in metabolism are recognized as significant factors in breast cancer (BC) progression. We constructed a novel prognostic signature for BC using metabolism-related lncRNAs and investigated their underlying mechanisms. The training and validation cohorts were established from BC patients acquired from two public sources: The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO).

The Ubiquitin Conjugating Enzyme E2 S (UBE2S), was initially identified as a crucial member in controlling substrate ubiquitination during the late promotion of the complex's function. In recent years, UBE2S has emerged as a significant epigenetic modification in various diseases, including myocardial ischemia, viral hepatitis, and notably, cancer. Mounting evidence suggests that UBE2S plays a pivotal role in several human malignancies including breast cancer, lung cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma and etc.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists are finding that certain bacteria, like a special type of Salmonella called VNP20009, can help fight tumors safely in cancer treatments.
  • However, when these bacteria enter tumors, they attract immune cells called neutrophils, which try to eliminate them and make the treatment less effective.
  • To solve this, researchers created special nanoparticles (SPPS) that help control neutrophils and protect the bacteria, leading to better tumor treatment with high success rates in mice.
