Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains a malignant and life-threatening tumor with an extremely poor prognosis, posing a significant global health challenge. Despite the continuous emergence of novel therapeutic agents, patients exhibit substantial heterogeneity in their responses to anti-tumor drugs and overall prognosis. The pentose phosphate pathway (PPP) is highly activated in various tumor cells and plays a pivotal role in tumor metabolic reprogramming.

Clinical studies have suggested that tirzepatide may also possess hepatoprotective effects; however, the molecular mechanisms underlying this association remain unclear. In our study, we performed biochemical analyses of serum and histopathological examinations of liver tissue in mice. To preliminarily explore the molecular mechanisms of tirzepatide on metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) was employed for comprehensive metabolomic, lipidomic, and proteomic analyses in MAFLD mice fed a high-fat diet (HFD).

Non-nutritive sweeteners (NNSs) are used to reduce caloric intake by replacing sugar with compounds that are sweet but contain little or no calories. In this study, we investigate how non-nutritive sweetener sucralose to promote acute food intake in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. Our results showed that acute exposure to NNSs sweetness induces a robust hyperphagic response in flies.

Cesarean section (CS) is highly prevalent surgery among females. However, current absorbable anti-adhesion membranes used clinically can partially prevent postoperative adhesions but show limited efficacy in tissue regeneration, leaving post-cesarean women at risk for severe complications including cesarean scar pregnancy, placenta previa, and uterine rupture. Herein, we designed a fully amniotic membrane (AM)-derived biomimetic nanostructural materials (AM-BNMs) as an anti-adhesion barrier, and validated its therapeutic efficacy in a rat CS model.

Chemotherapy resistance is a great challenge in the treatment of gastric cancer (GC), so it is urgent to explore the prognostic markers of chemoresistance. PUF60 (Poly (U)-binding splicing factor 60) is a nucleic acid-binding protein that has been shown to regulate transcription and link to tumorigenesis in various cancers. However, its biological role and function in chemotherapy resistance of GC is unclear.

Background: Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis (anti-NMDARE) is a prevalent type of autoimmune encephalitis caused by antibodies targeting the NMDAR's GluN1 subunit. While significant progress has been made in elucidating the pathophysiology of autoimmune diseases, the immunological mechanisms underlying anti-NMDARE remain elusive. This study aimed to characterize immune cell interactions and dysregulation in anti-NMDARE by leveraging single-cell multi-omics sequencing technologies.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most prevalent form of liver tumor, characterized by restricted therapeutic options and typically low long-term survival rates. Recently, immunotherapy has revolutionized HCC treatment, making the tumor microenvironment (TME) a research focus. Radiomics is increasingly crucial in HCC clinical decisions, offering advanced tools for TME characterization and prognosis assessment.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a leading cause of cancer-related deaths, is often linked to dysregulated cell cycle proteins. This study focuses on the role of WISP1 in modulating Cyclin D1, a key cell cycle regulator, in HCC. The study used HCCLM3 and Hep3B cells to assess the expression of Cyclin D1 and cell proliferation following the treatment of WISP1.

While current guidelines recommend R2* method as the first-line method for liver iron concentration (LIC) measurement, its diagnostic accuracy is debatable. A prior meta-analysis suggested limited accuracy of R2* method for identifying patients with iron overload. However, substantial advances in R2* method over the past decade may have improved its diagnostic performance.

Background: Metastasis is the primary cause of mortality in small cell lung cancer (SCLC), with the liver being a predominant site for distal metastasis. Despite this clinical significance, mechanisms underlying the interaction between SCLC and liver microenvironment, fostering metastasis, remain unclear.
Methods: SCLC patient tissue array, bioinformatics analysis were performed to demonstrate the role of periostin (POSTN) in SCLC progression, metastasis, and prognosis.

Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) represents the most severe subtype of stroke, and the lack of effective clinical pharmacotherapies poses a substantial threat to human health. Hematoma plays a crucial role in determining the prognosis of ICH patients by causing primary mechanical extrusion, followed by secondary brain injuries, such as cerebral edema, iron-mediated oxidative stress, and inflammation resulting from its degradation products. 5α-androst-3β,5α,6β-triol (TRIOL) is a neuroprotective steroid currently undergoing phase II clinical trial for acute ischemic stroke with anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory properties.

Epstein-Barr nuclear antigen 1 (EBNA1), a sequence-specific DNA binding protein of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), is essential for viral genome replication and maintenance and is therefore an attractive target for the therapeutic intervention of EBV-associated cancers. Several EBNA1-specific inhibitors have demonstrated the ability to block EBNA1 function in vitro, but practical delivery strategies for these inhibitors in vivo are still lacking. Here, we report an intelligent hierarchical targeting theranostic nanosystem (denoted as mZGOCS@MnO-P5) that integrates an azide (N3) terminal dual-targeting peptide (N3-P5), a tumor microenvironment-responsive degradable MnO nanosheet, and a mesoporous ZnGaO:Cr, Sn near-infrared persistent luminescence (NIR-PL) nanosphere (mZGOCS).
