Background: Increasing evidence suggests that both amyloid-β metabolism disorders in the liver and cerebral hypoperfusion play an important role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, the relevance of liver function alterations to cerebral blood flow (CBF) of patients with AD remains unclear.
Objective: We aimed to investigate the associations between liver function changes and CBF of patients with AD.

Phospholipase D (PLD) is an enzyme that consists of six isoforms (PLD1-PLD6) and has been discovered in different organisms including bacteria, viruses, plants, and mammals. PLD is involved in regulating a wide range of nerve cells' physiological processes, such as cytoskeleton modulation, proliferation/growth, vesicle trafficking, morphogenesis, and development. Simultaneously, PLD, which also plays an essential role in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative and neuroimmune diseases.

Background: Over the years, there has been extensive exploration of the association between testosterone and lipid profiles, yet the precise mechanisms underlying their interaction remain incompletely elucidated. Similarly, there is a dearth of research on the correlation between serum apolipoprotein B (apoB) and serum total testosterone (TT), particularly within specific populations.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study to assess the relationship between serum TT concentration and serum apoB concentration.

Background: Small extracellular vesicles (EVs), exemplified by exosomes, mediate intercellular communication by transporting proteins, mRNAs, and miRNAs. Post-translational modifications are involved in controlling small EV secretion process. However, whether palmitoylation regulates small EV secretion, remains largely unexplored.

Background: The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is considered a dependable biomarker for gauging insulin resistance. The atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) represents a marker reflecting atherosclerosis. However, there is currently no study specifically exploring the associations of these two biomarkers with the severity of new-onset coronary artery disease (CAD) under different glucose metabolic states.

Background: Recently, the triglyceride glucose (TyG) index has emerged as a reliable predictive indicator for adverse outcomes of cardiovascular disease. However, the roles of the TyG index in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)≤1.8 mmol/L after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) remain unclear.

Bladder cancer (BC) is a crisis to human health. It is necessary to understand the molecular mechanisms of the development and progression of BC to determine treatment options. Publicly available expression data were obtained from TCGA and GEO databases to spot differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between cancer and normal bladder tissues.

Background: The triglyceride glucose-body mass index (TyG-BMI index) has been suggested as a novel predictor of insulin resistance. However, its predictive value for slow coronary flow phenomenon (SCFP) in patients with ischemia and nonobstructive coronary arteries (INOCA) remains unclear.
Methods: We consecutively recruited 1625 patients with INOCA from February 2019 to February 2023 and divided them into two groups based on thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) frame counts (TFCs): the SCFP group (n = 79) and the control group.

A key pathological factor of Alzheimer's disease (AD), the most prevalent form of age-related dementia in the world, is excessive β-amyloid protein (Aβ) in extracellular aggregation in the brain. And in the peripheral blood, a large amount of Aβ is derived from platelets. So far, the causality between the levels of peripheral blood Aβ and its aggregation in the brain, particularly the role of the peripheral blood Aβ in the pathology of AD, is still unclear.

Intravesical chemotherapy is highly recommended after transurethral resection of bladder tumor for patients with bladder cancer (BCa). However, this localized adjuvant therapy has drawbacks of causing indiscriminate damage and inability to penetrate bladder mucosal. Fluorinated polylysine micelles (PLLF) were synthesized by reacting polylysine (PLL) with heptafluorobutyrate anhydride.

To explore whether granulosa cell (GC)-derived exosomes (GC-Exos) and follicular fluid-derived exosomes (FF-Exos) have functional similarities in follicle development and to establish relevant experiments to validate whether GC-Exos could serve as a potential substitute for follicular fluid-derived exosomes to improve folliculogenesis. GC-Exos were characterized. MicroRNA (miRNA) profiles of exosomes from human GCs and follicular fluid were analyzed in depth.

Objective: A mini-invasive and good-compliance program is critical to broaden colorectal cancer (CRC) screening and reduce CRC-related mortality. Blood testing combined with imaging examination has been proved to be feasible on screen for multicancer and guide intervention. The study aims to construct a machine learning-assisted detection platform with available multi-targets for CRC and colorectal adenoma (CRA) screening.

Objectives: Arctigenin (ATG) is a natural product with a variety of biological activity, which can improve the pathological changes of Alzheimer's disease (AD) model mice through multiple mechanisms. This study aims to further elucidate the potential mechanism by which ATG improves memory impairment in AD mice.
Methods: Here, we used pR5 mice as an experimental model, and ATG was administered continuously for 90 days.

Background: Prior studies have suggested that the chronic inflammatory response has an important role in the pathophysiology of slow coronary flow phenomenon (SCFP). However, data are scarce regarding the role of plasma fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio (PFAR) in patients having SCFP without obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD). In this study, we investigated the relationship between PFAR and the presence of SCFP in patients without obstructive CAD.

Background: PCR, Sanger sequencing and NGS are often employed for carrier screening of thalassemia but all of these methods have limitations. In this study, we evaluated a new third-generation sequencing-based approach termed comprehensive analysis of thalassemia alleles (CATSA) to explore the prevalence of thalassemia in the Dongguan region of southern China.
Methods: 19,932 subjects were recruited for thalassemia screening and hemoglobin testing was performed for each of them.
