The small nucleolar RNA host gene 12 (SNHG12) has been reported to play an important role in the tumorigenesis and progression of PCa, but the functional underlying mechanism has not been studied clearly. We detected the expression level of SNHG12 in PCa tissues and matched adjacent normal tissues that were collected from 85 patients. Then, colony formation assays, MTT experiments, and flow cytometry were used to examine the effect of SNHG12 on proliferation, cell cycle distribution, and apoptosis of DU145 cells.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to create a practical scoring system to predict the success of vaginal births after cesarean sections (TOLAC).
  • It analyzed data from 498 patients, focusing on key factors like cervical score, fetal weight, and body mass index to develop three forecasting scales for vaginal delivery eligibility.
  • The final evaluation identified one scale with the highest predictive ability based on six important indicators, suggesting it can effectively help assess the chances of a successful TOLAC.

Rosiglitazone is a synthetic ligand of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ), and it can induce apoptosis and autophagy in a variety of cancer cells. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the influence of rosiglitazone on the proliferation and apoptosis of the 5637 and T24 human bladder cancer cell lines. The results demonstrated that the level of growth inhibition rate was gradually increased by treating the 5637 and T24 cells with higher doses of rosiglitazone and longer incubation time.

Aim: To compare conventional slow equilibrium cooling and directional freezing (DF) by gauze package for cryopreservation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs).

Methods: HUVECs were randomly assigned to conventional freezing (CF) and DF by gauze package group. The two groups of HUVECs were incubated with a freezing liquid consisting of 10% dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), 60% fetal bovine serum (FBS) and 30% Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium (DMEM) and then put into cryopreserved tubes.

Objectives: We aimed to investigate the protective effect of Lycium barbarum polysaccharides (LBPs) against oxidative stress-induced apoptosis and senescence in human lens epithelial cells.

Methods: To study apoptosis, SRA01/04 cells, a human lens epithelial cell lines, were exposed to 200 µM hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for 24 h with or without pretreatment with LBPs. Cell viability was measured using a Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay.

Objective: To detect the association of apolipoprotein E(apoE) gene polymorphism with early-onset coronary heart disease(CHD) and to evaluate the effect of apoE gene polymorphism on plasma lipid levels.

Methods: The apoE genotypes of 52 early-onset CHD patients (aged 38-55 years), 161 aged CHD patients and 180 controls were determined by PCR-RFLP. Plasma lipid levels were measured by using routine methods.
