Electronic address:

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) induced by atherosclerosis (AS) is the main fatal complication of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Establishing an appropriate animal model of SLE with AS is of great value for investigating the pathogenesis and therapeutic targets of SLE-CVD. In the present work, pristane was injected intraperitoneally into C57BL/6J mice to establish the SLE model and Bacillus Calmette-Guerin Vaccine (BCG) was injected intradermally one month later to enhance immunity and induce AS.

Breast cancer that overexpresses Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2+) due to gene amplification or overexpression constitutes 15-20% of all breast cancer cases. Trastuzumab, the first FDA-approved monoclonal antibody targeting HER2, serves as the standard first-line treatment for HER2-positive advanced breast cancer, as recommended by multiple clinical guidelines.Currently, accumulated clinical evidence reveals a considerable degree of variability in the response of HER2+ breast cancer to trastuzumab treatment.

Background And Aims: The "J"-shaped relationship between alcohol consumption and cardiovascular health is recognized as potentially influenced by residual confounders, and this study aimed to clarify the role that social determinants play in the relationship.

Methods And Results: Using NHANES data from 2005 to 2018, this study analyzed 30,648 participants to assess how eight social determinants (employment, income, food security, education, healthcare access, insurance, housing stability, and marital status) influence the relationship between alcohol consumption and cardiovascular disease (CVD). Moderate drinking reduces CVD risk (HR: 0.

Breast cancer has become the number one cancer worldwide, there are challenges in its prevention, diagnosis and treatment, especially the pathogenesis of triple negative breast cancer has not been clear and the treatment dilemma of metastatic breast cancer. Metabolic reprogramming is currently considered to be one of the hallmarks of cancer, and metabolic alterations in breast cancer, including enhanced glycolysis, tricarboxylic acid cycle activity, glutamine catabolism, and fatty acid biosynthesis, are manifested differently in different breast cancer subtypes and have a complex relationship with tumor growth, metastasis, death, and drug resistance. At present, inhibitors of fatty acid synthesis and oxidation related enzymes have a certain effect in the treatment of breast cancer.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how combining esketamine and dexmedetomidine affects the occurrence of postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) in elderly patients after lumbar spine surgery, finding a significant reduction in POCD incidence.
  • It involved 162 elderly patients divided into three groups to compare the effects of the drug combinations, measuring outcomes like POCD incidence and serum biomarkers.
  • Results showed that the combined treatment led to notably lower levels of neuron-specific enolase (NSE) and calcium-binding protein β (S100β), indicating its effectiveness in reducing cognitive dysfunction post-surgery.

Background: According to recent research, there is a considerable correlation between the severity of coronary artery disease and the platelet-to-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (PHR), which suggests that PHR is a potentially valuable inflammatory biomarker. However, the body of current research offers insufficiently strong evidence to clarify the connection between PHR and the incidence of stroke. Therefore, this study aims to elucidate any potential associations between PHR and stroke risk.

  • The study aimed to analyze the relationship between the prognostic nutritional index (PNI) and the liver serum ratio (LSR) in predicting outcomes for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients receiving radiotherapy.
  • A total of 134 esophageal cancer patients were examined, focusing on their survival rates based on their PNI and LSR levels, with results showing that higher levels of these indicators were linked to better progression-free and overall survival.
  • The findings suggested that combining PNI and LSR could enhance prognostic assessments for ESCC patients, indicating that those with higher lymphocyte-to-serum ratios had significantly longer survival times.

The escalating prevalence of tissue damage and its associated complications has elicited global apprehension. While nanomaterial-based wound healing exhibits significant potential in terms of curbing infections and surpassing conventional methods, unresolved concerns regarding nanomaterial controllability and precision remain unresolved, jeopardizing its practical applications. In recent years, a unique strategy for creating gas-releasing nanomaterials for wound repair has been proposed, involving the creation of gas-releasing nanomaterials to facilitate wound repair by generating gas donor moieties.
