In recent years, research has increasingly highlighted the significance of nursing practice environments, linking positive settings with enhanced job satisfaction, professional autonomy, and care quality. Such environments can decrease turnover, stress, and costs while improving patient safety. Despite this extensive literature, there is limited consensus on defining a 'positive nursing practice environment', highlighting the need for a systematic analysis to advance understanding and application.

Climate change can affect biological assemblages by shifting their species' geographic range and changing species richness. Aquatic insects represent more than half of the freshwater animal species but have been neglected mainly in climate change assessments, particularly in tropical ecosystems. Among the aquatic insect taxa, Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, and Trichoptera (EPT) are well-known bioindicators of environmental changes and encompass an essential metric for rivers and streams' biomonitoring.

This study aimed to examine the validity of the Brazilian-Portuguese version of the Parental Burnout Assessment (PBA), the current gold-standard measure of parental burnout (PB). We surveyed parents in Portugal (N = 407) and Brazil (N = 301). We (a) compared the factor structure of the Brazilian-Portuguese version with the original structure of the PBA, (b) tested the adequacy of a second-order factor structure, (c) evaluated invariance across gender and countries, (d) examined reliability, and (e) evaluated whether PB levels are related to gender, satisfaction with life, and parental self-efficacy (PSE).

  • The 2008 European Society of Cardiology and European Society of Hypertension guidelines recommend using single-pill combinations (SPCs) of two antihypertensive drugs as the first-line treatment for most patients with hypertension.
  • The recommendation is supported by extensive data showing that SPCs help quickly achieve blood pressure targets, lower cardiovascular risks, and improve treatment adherence.
  • Despite these advantages, some doctors are hesitant to adopt this new approach, and the review will explore these concerns and suggest ways to overcome them.

January 2010

Full Professor and Head of the Sector for Traumatology of the Locomotor Apparatus, Discipline of Traumatology, Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Unifesp/EPM, São Paulo, Brazil.

Objective: To clinically and anatomically compare the limits of the fibular nerve in Gerdy's safe zone in cadavers.

Methods: Fifty anatomical knee specimens were clinically measured (before dissection) to determine the distances and angles between Gerdy's tubercle and the posterior region of the fibula (cm); the angle between the line corresponding to the posterior region of the fibula and the tibial crest (degrees); and the angle between Gerdy's tubercle and the tibial crest (degrees). After dissection of the anatomical specimens, the knees were measured again, to determine the distances and angles between Gerdy's tubercle and the fibular nerve (cm); the angle between the fibular nerve, in the posterior region of the fibula, and the tibial crest (degrees); and the angle between Gerdy's tubercle and the tibial crest (degrees).
