Although the issue of dissociative amnesia in adult survivors of child sexual abuse has been contentious, many research studies have shown that there is a subset of child sexual abuse survivors who have forgotten their abuse and later remembered it. Child sexual abuse survivors with dissociative amnesia histories have different formative and therapeutic issues than survivors of child sexual abuse who have had continuous memory of their abuse. This article first discusses those differences in terms of the moderating risk factors for developing dissociative amnesia (e.

Anisotropic Mg nanowires have been successfully prepared by electrocrystallization of Grignard's reagents thought to proceed via a modified faces, steps, and kinks (FSK) mechanism. Mg nanoparticles with roughly hexagonal shapes have also been obtained via chemical reduction of the same Grignard's reagents.

Prolapsed epiploica of the sigmoid colon through the vaginal cuff is a rare finding that has never been reported after total laparoscopic hysterectomy. We encountered a case of prolapsed epiploica of the sigmoid colon in a 40-year-old female, 4 months status after total laparoscopic hysterectomy. Diagnostic laparoscopy demonstrated prolapsed epiploica of the sigmoid colon through a dehisced vaginal cuff.

Very high-pressure capillary liquid chromatography assisted by voltage.

J Chromatogr A

February 2006

Department of Chemistry, University at Buffalo, The State University of New York Buffalo, NY 14260-3000, USA.

Capillary liquid chromatography at moderately high pressures and capillary electrochromatography (CEC) have been combined to drive the mobile phase through capillary columns packed with small diameter particles. In a column packed with 1.5 microm nonporous particles, linear velocities near 3mm/s were observed when combining inlet pressures of 690 bar (10,000 psi) and an applied voltage of 25 kV.

Protein dynamics in supercooled water: the search for slow motional modes.

J Biomol NMR

May 2002

Department of Chemistry and Structural Biology, University at Buffalo, The State University of New York Buffalo 14260, USA.

The impact of studying protein dynamics in supercooled water for identifying slow motional modes on the micros time scale is demonstrated. Backbone 15N spin relaxation parameters were measured at -13 degrees C for ubiquitin, which plays a central role for signaling proteolysis, cellular trafficking and kinase activation in eukaryotic organisms. A hitherto undetected motional mode involving Val 70 was found, which may well play an important role for ubiquitin recognition.
