Background And Objective: Inadequate risk assessment and a lack of risk monitoring are common deficiencies in clinical laboratory, and are also the main causes of biosafety incidents. Therefore, we summarized the experience of implementing adequate risk assessment and maintaining risk monitoring, and established a procedure for continuously improving biosafety management.
Methods: Learning from our laboratory's experience in implementing risk assessment, risk response, and risk monitoring before and during the COVID-19 epidemic, we summarized the procedures for fully identifying risks, accurately evaluating risks, maintaining risk monitoring, establishing and regular reviewing safety indicators.

Intestinal mantle cell lymphoma complicated with intussusception is rare in clinical practice, lacking specific clinical manifestations.CT and colonoscopy are helpful for the diagnosis of this disease, which need to be distinguished from colorectal cancer,Crohn's disease, and other pathological subtypes of lymphoma. The diagnosis still needs to be confirmed by pathological examination.

We aimed to analyse postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) incidence and risk factors in elderly adults who underwent surgery for oral malignancies. A total of 112 elderly patients (aged ≥ 55 years) were selected for expanded resection of oral malignancy and cervical lymphatic dissection at our institution from December 2020 to December 2021. Participants were cognitively evaluated using the neuropsychological test scale 1 day before and 7 days after surgery to determine whether they had developed POCD.

Background: In recent years, the number of people using mobile applications to promote health and welfare has exponentially increased. However, there are fewer applications in the field of ERAS. How to promote the rapid rehabilitation of patients with malignant tumor surgery during perioperative period and the mastery of its long-term nutritional state is a problem to be solved.

Background: Chronic orofacial pain is a common and incompletely defined clinical condition. The role of G protein-coupled estrogen receptor 1 (GPER1) as a new estrogen receptor in trunk and visceral pain regulation is well known. Here, we researched the role of GPER1 in the rostral ventral medulla (RVM) during chronic orofacial pain.

Primary aldosteronism (PA) is characterized by overproduction of aldosterone which can lead to various target organ damage, including the cardiovascular system. There are rare case reports about PA patients with severe heart failure. We report two male patients who were admitted because of severe cardiac systolic dysfunction induced by primary aldosteronism.

Advances in cancer therapy have resulted in more cancer therapy-related cardiac dysfunction (CTRCD), which is the main cause of death in older female survivors of breast cancer. Traditionally, guideline-recommended medications for heart failure, such as beta-blockers and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors/angiotensin receptor blockers (ACEIs/ARBs), are commonly used to prevent or attenuate CTRCD. However, sometimes their effectiveness is not satisfactory.

Background: The impact of bevacizumab (an anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapy) remains uncertain, which has been the focus of studies on the management of ovarian cancer (OC). We performed a protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the efficacy and safety of bevacizumab combined with chemotherapy in OC.
Methods: The presentation of methods and results in this systematic review was performed according to the evaluation guidelines for health care interventions provided in the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Protocol.

Receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL) has been found to induce osteoclastogenesis and bone resorption. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain unclear. Via conducting a series of biochemical experiments with cell lines, this study investigated the role and mechanism of NADPH oxidase 4 (Nox4) in RANKL-induced autophagy and osteoclastogenesis.

Background: Long non-coding RNAs have been acknowledged as the crucial regulators in the progression of human cancers, including gastric cancer (GC). Small nucleolar RNA host gene 10 (SNHG10) has been identified as an oncogene in several cancer types. Nonetheless, it is unclear whether SNHG10 exerts functions in GC cells.

Background: Whether routine urinary analysis has a net benefit for urinary tract infection (UTI) screening is unclear.
Methods: Using the laboratory information system (LIS), we retrospectively extracted the data of urine culture and routine analysis between January 2017 and April 2017. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, logistic regression model, net reclassification improvement (NRI) and integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) were used to estimate the screening performance of routine urinary analysis.

Chronic inflammation is known to promote carcinogenesis; Dicer heterozygous mice are more likely to develop colitis-associated tumors. This study investigates whether Dicer is downregulated in inflamed colon tissues before malignancy occurs and whether increasing Dicer expression in inflamed colon tissues can alleviate colitis and prevent colitis-associated tumorigenesis. : Gene expression in colon tissues was analyzed by immunohistochemistry, immunoblots, and real-time RT-PCR.

Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease mediated by monocyte infiltration and cholesterol deposition into the subendothelial area, resulting in foam cell development. Probiotics are live bacteria that are beneficial for health when administered orally in adequate amounts. In this study, 8-week-old atherosclerosis-prone apolipoprotein E-deficient (ApoE) mice were fed with or without Lactobacillus plantarum ATCC 14917 per day for 12 weeks.

Most lung cancer bone metastasis are characterized by osteolytic destruction and osteoblastic activity is significantly decreased, suggesting that hypoxia may play a critical role in the process, but the underlying mechanisms remain unknown. Semaphorin 4D (Sema4D) is a recently discovered osteogenic inhibitory factor that is expressed at high levels in lung cancers. Here, CoCl-induced hypoxia significantly enhanced the inhibitory effect of lung cancer cell conditioned media on osteoblast differentiation by inducing the expression and secretion of Sema4D in a HIF-1α- but not HIF-2α-dependent manner.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disease characterized by severe, selective loss of pigmented neurons in the substantial nigra (SN). Previous studies have indicated that such loss could be detected by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). Here, we try to consolidate current DTI data to both quantitatively determine the imaging changes in SN, as well as explore the potential use of DTI for PD diagnosis.

Chromosome region 3p12-14 is an important tumour suppressor gene (TSG) locus for multiple cancers. ADAMTS9, a member of the metalloprotease large family, has been identified as a candidate 3p14.2 TSG inactivated by aberrant promoter CpG methylation in several carcinomas, but little known about its expression and function in breast cancer.

Acute otitis media (AOM) is one of the most common bacterial infectious diseases in children aged 2 to 7 years worldwide. We previously demonstrated that interleukin-17A (IL-17A) promotes an acute inflammatory response characterized by the influx of neutrophils into the middle ear cavity during -induced AOM. In general, the inflammatory response is viewed as an effector that frequently causes local tissue damage.

We have recently reported that neutrophils play a pivotal role in innate defense against Streptococcus pneumoniae ( Spn) during mouse acute otitis media (AOM). However, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. By constructing models of pneumococcal AOM in C57BL/6 mice and using a specific inhibitor in vivo, we investigated the role of myeloperoxidase (MPO), one of the most important protein components of neutrophils.

This study aimed to investigate the protective effects of magnesium isoglycyrrhizinate (MGL) on aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and serum levels of T helper 1 (Th1) cytokines in patients with allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). The study included 42 patients prepared for allo-HSCT, who were divided equally into MGL and reduced glutathione groups. The ALT and AST levels were detected 1day before pretreatment and transplantation, and 7, 14, and 21days after transplantation.
