It has been rarely reported that a stuck optical coherence tomography (OCT) catheter can lead to longitudinal stent deformation (LSD). This complication can result in incomplete stent apposition and dissection after stent implantation. In this study, we present a case where a bailout stent was implanted in the distal segment of the left anterior descending artery (LAD) after longitudinal stent deformation caused by a stuck OCT catheter.

The prognostic value of growth differentiation factor-15 (GDF-15) in predicting long-term adverse outcomes in coronary heart disease (CHD) patients remains limited. Our study examines the association between GDF-15 and adverse outcomes over an extended period in CHD patients and firstly assesses the incremental prognostic effect of incorporating GDF-15 into the Framingham risk score (FRS)-based model. This single-center prospective cohort study included 3,321 patients with CHD categorized into 2,479 acute coronary syndrome (ACS) (74.

Background: Posterior nasal neurectomy (PNN) is a commonly employed surgical approach for the treatment of allergic rhinitis (AR). Due to its denervation effect on the nasal mucosa, PNN may potentially alter the motion and defensive capability of cilia. Previous research on the effects of neural regulation and denervation on cilia has been limited by the absence of a feasible in vivo evaluation method for assessing ciliary function.

Background: Emerging evidence suggests that minimal acute kidney injury (stage 1 AKI) is associated with increased hospital mortality rates. However, for those who do not meet the AKI diagnostic criteria, whether a small increase in serum creatinine (SCr) levels is associated with an increased mortality rate in elderly patients is not known. Therefore, we aimed to investigate small elevations in SCr of <26.

Myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (MIR)-induced arrhythmia remains a major cause of death in patients with cardiovascular diseases. The reduction of Cx43 has been known as a major inducer of arrhythmias after MIR, but the reason for the reduction of Cx43 remains largely unknown. The aim of this study was to find the key mechanism underlying the reduction of Cx43 after MIR and to screen out an herbal extract to attenuate arrhythmia after MIR.

Deep learning models have emerged as rapid, accurate, and effective approaches for clinical decisions. Through a combination of drug screening and deep learning models, drugs that may benefit patients before and after surgery can be discovered to reduce the risk of complications or speed recovery. However, most existing drug prediction methods have high data requirements and lack interpretability, which has a limited role in adjuvant surgical treatment.

Background: The permanent pacemaker (PPM) implantation and pacemaker dependency rates after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) are highly variable as some of the conduction disturbances are reversible. It remains poorly investigated how to optimise temporary pacing in these patients. This study aimed to explore the potential reduction in the PPM implantation rate using temporary-permanent pacemaker (TPPM) as a 1-month bridge.

Isoproterenol (ISO) administration is a well-established model for inducing myocardial injury, replicating key features of human myocardial infarction (MI). The ensuing inflammatory response plays a pivotal role in the progression of adverse cardiac remodeling, characterized by myocardial dysfunction, fibrosis, and hypertrophy. The Mst1/Hippo signaling pathway, a critical regulator of cellular processes, has emerged as a potential therapeutic target in cardiovascular diseases.
