Background: Electro-acupuncture (EA) has promising effects on diastasis rectus abdominis (DRA), defined as a separation of the two muscle bellies of rectus abdominis. To study, there is scant knowledge or scarce high-quality evidence.

Objective: We aimed to evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of EA in treating DRA during postpartum.

Upadacitinib Therapy Reduces Ulcerative Colitis Symptoms as Early as Day 1 of Induction Treatment.

Background & Aims: We evaluated the efficacy of once-daily (QD) upadacitinib 45 mg, an oral, reversible Janus kinase inhibitor, on early symptomatic improvement for ulcerative colitis (UC). Post hoc analyses were performed on pooled data from 2 replicate, phase 3, multicenter induction trials, U-ACHIEVE Induction and U-ACCOMPLISH, to determine the earliest time point of efficacy onset.

Methods: Diary entry data through 14 days from the first dose of placebo or upadacitinib 45 mg QD were analyzed for daily improvement in UC symptoms (stool frequency, rectal bleeding, abdominal pain, and bowel urgency).

Microspheres have gained much attention from pharmaceutical and medical industry due to the excellent biodegradable and long controlled-release characteristics. However, the drug release behavior of microspheres is influenced by complicated formulation and manufacturing factors. The traditional formulation development of microspheres is intractable and inefficient by the experimentally trial-and-error methods.

Diabetes can be classified as type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). It has been reported that children born from mothers with GDM present motor impairment, however, underlying mechanisms of GDM-induce fetal neurological diseases remain unknown. In this study, NOD (nonobese diabetic) mice were used to construct the GDM model; after 2 weeks of gestation, thalamocortical axon development of fetal was evaluated by immunofluorescence.

Effect of different weekly frequencies of Chen-style Tai Chi in elders with chronic non-specific low back pain: study protocol for a randomised controlled trial.

Background: Tai Chi (TC), as one of mild to moderate exercise therapies specifically recommended by clinical practice guideline from the American College of Physician, is a viable option for chronic non-specific low back pain (CNLBP) treatment. Nevertheless, limited studies focused on the effect of different weekly frequencies of TC in elders with CNLBP. This superiority study aims to compare the differences of TC with different weekly frequencies in elders with CNLBP on the premise of proving its effectiveness, and identifying whether mindfulness mediates the effect of TC on treatment outcomes.

The dysbiosis of the gut microbiome is one of the pathogenic factors of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and also affects the treatment and intervention of NAFLD. Among gut microbiomes, keystone species that regulate the integrity and stability of an ecological community have become the potential intervention targets for NAFLD. Here, we collected stool samples from 22 patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), 25 obese patients, and 16 healthy individuals from New York for 16S rRNA gene sequencing.

Molecular Dynamics Simulation of Drug Solubilization Behavior in Surfactant and Cosolvent Injections.

Surfactants and cosolvents are often combined to solubilize insoluble drugs in commercially available intravenous formulations to achieve better solubilization. In this study, six marketed parenteral formulations with surfactants and cosolvents were investigated on the aggregation processes of micelles, the structural characterization of micelles, and the properties of solvent using molecular dynamics simulations. The addition of cosolvents resulted in better hydration of the core and palisade regions of micelles and an increase in both radius of gyration (R) and the solvent accessible surface area (SASA), causing a rise in critical micelle concentration (CMC), which hindered the phase separation of micelles.

Traditional Chinese medicine injections: where we are after 80-year development.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) injection is the combination of modern pharmaceutical technology and traditional Chinese prescription, which was born in 1941 and played a great role in the backward medical conditions at that time. However, the debate over TCM injections has never stopped due to adverse drug reactions (ADRs). The regulation on TCM injections has been further strengthened since 2017, which has prompted many TCM injections to carry out re-evaluations on quality, safety, efficiency as well as pharmacoeconomics, which made significant changes and progress.

To identify Musashi2 as an effective biomarker regulated by the TGF-β/Smad signaling pathway for the precise diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC) through bioinformatic tools and experimental verification. The Cancer Genome Atlas, Timer, and Kaplan-Meier analyses were performed to clarify the expression of Musashi2 and its influence on the prognosis of CRC. Transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1) was used to activate the TGF-β/Smad signaling pathway to identify whether it could regulate the expression and function of Musashi2.

Effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions on empathy: A meta-analysis.

Empathy is essential for human survival and social interaction. Although mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) have been used to improve empathy in healthy populations, its therapeutic efficacy remains unknown. This study aims to investigate the therapeutic effects of MBIs on empathy in a healthy population and the potential factors affecting the efficacy of MBIs.

Case report: Reproductive organ preservation and subsequent pregnancy for an infertility patient with lynch syndrome-associated synchronous endometrial cancer and colon cancer after treatment with a PD-1 checkpoint inhibitor.

Currently, immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are the mainstay of treatment for Lynch syndrome patients. However, the tumor regression features in radiology and pathology are inconsistent for patients who are treated with ICIs, which sometimes confuses surgical decision-making. Here, we report a case in which a 36-year-old patient suffering from infertility was diagnosed with Lynch syndrome-associated synchronous endometrial cancer and colon cancer, and persistently enlarged left iliac paravascular lymph nodes were detected after receiving sintilimab treatment, a programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) receptor inhibitor.

Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) seriously affects the physical and mental health of approximately 90% of males. Due to its complex and unclear etiology, the treatment methods that are currently available for chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome are controversial, and their efficacy is unsatisfactory. At present, most researchers believe that this kind of prostatitis is caused by autoimmune inflammation.

Whole-exome sequencing analysis identifies distinct mutational profile and novel prognostic biomarkers in primary gastrointestinal diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.

Background: Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and about 10% of DLBCL cases primarily occur in the gastrointestinal tract. Previous reports have revealed that primary gastrointestinal-DLBCL (pGI-DLBCL) harbors different genetic mutations from other nodal or extranodal DLBCL. However, the exonic mutation profile of pGI-DLBCL has not been fully addressed.

Hypertension as a rare adverse effect caused by infliximab in the treatment of Crohn's disease: a case report.

Background: Infliximab is an effective drug for the treatment of Crohn's disease. As a rare and unique adverse effect of infliximab, hypertension should be paid enough attention in clinical work. At present, there is no relevant case report.

Intraoperative Endoscopic Interventions of Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Gastrointestinal endoscopy provides detailed information for diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and disease monitoring and delivers therapy for inflammatory bowel disease. Inflammatory bowel diseases are associated with complications such as strictures, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, fistula, perforation, and abscesses. Endoscopic intervention is a valid therapeutic modality for intestinal strictures and other morbidities.

RAD21 amplification epigenetically suppresses interferon signaling to promote immune evasion in ovarian cancer.

Prevalent copy number alteration is the most prominent genetic characteristic associated with ovarian cancer (OV) development, but its role in immune evasion has not been fully elucidated. In this study, we identified RAD21, a key component of the cohesin complex, as a frequently amplified oncogene that could modulate immune response in OV. Through interrogating the RAD21-regulated transcriptional program, we found that RAD21 directly interacts with YAP/TEAD4 transcriptional corepressors and recruits the NuRD complex to suppress interferon (IFN) signaling.

Background: Stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD) is a kind of cancer that begins in the stomach cells and has a poor overall survival rate. Following resection surgery, chemotherapy has been suggested as a curative method for stomach cancer. However, it is ineffective.

Artificial intelligence for quantifying immune infiltrates interacting with stroma in colorectal cancer.

Background: We proposed an artificial intelligence-based immune index, Deep-immune score, quantifying the infiltration of immune cells interacting with the tumor stroma in hematoxylin and eosin-stained whole-slide images of colorectal cancer.

Methods: A total of 1010 colorectal cancer patients from three centers were enrolled in this retrospective study, divided into a primary (N = 544) and a validation cohort (N = 466). We proposed the Deep-immune score, which reflected both tumor stroma proportion and the infiltration of immune cells in the stroma region.

Comparative clinical outcome following individualized follitropin delta dosing in Chinese women undergoing ovarian stimulation for in vitro fertilization /intracytoplasmic sperm injection.

Background: To compare the efficacy and safety of follitropin delta in its individualized fixed-dose regimen with follitropin alfa in a conventional adjustable dosing regimen in Chinese women.  METHODS: This was a subgroup analysis of the randomized, multi-center, assessor-blind, non-inferiority trial (GRAPE) including 759 Chinese women (aged 20-40 years) recruited in 16 reproductive medicine clinics in China. Women were randomized in a 1:1 ratio to be treated with either follitropin delta dose based on anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) and body weight or conventional dosing with follitropin alfa following a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist protocol.
