Background: Myocardial infarction (MI) is a chronic cardiovascular disease. This study aims to discern potentially angiogenesis- and epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related genes as biomarkers for MI diagnosis through bioinformatics.

Methods: All datasets and angiogenesis- and EMT-related genes were collected from the public database.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates how different levels of basilar artery (BA) tortuosity impact blood flow in the posterior circulation of the brain, analyzing data from 138 subjects with varying tortuosity scores.
  • - Findings indicate that hypertension and vertebral artery dominance are significant risk factors for increased BA tortuosity, with a notable negative correlation between BA tortuosity and cerebral blood flow in several brain regions.
  • - The results suggest that BA tortuosity could serve as a useful biomarker for assessing posterior circulation and the severity of ischemia in that area.

Background: Acute myocardial infarction (AMI), which commonly leads to heart failure, is among the leading causes of mortality worldwide. The aim of this study was to find potential regulatory network for miRNA-inflammation, oxidative stress and prognosis-related mRNA to uncover molecular mechanisms of AMI.

Methods: The expression profiles of miRNA and mRNA in the blood samples from AMI patients were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) dataset for differential expression analysis.

Effect of high quality nursing on alleviating negative emotions in patients with advanced lung cancer.

Am J Transl Res

October 2021

Department of Cardiovascular Internal Medicine, Huangshi Central Hospital, (Affiliated Hospital of Hubei Polytechnic University), Edong Healthcare Group Huangshi 435000, Hubei, China.

Objective: To analyze the risk factors of moderate and severe depression and to study the effect of high quality nursing on alleviating negative emotions and improving quality of life of patients with advanced lung cancer.

Method: A total of 100 patients with advanced lung cancer were collected from our hospital. According to the SDS score before the nursing, the patients with SDS score ≤62 and >52 were enrolled in the mild depression group, and those with SDS score >62 were enrolled in the moderate, severe depression group.

Objective: This study was designed to investigate whether microRNA-130-5p could promote the progression and metastasis of lung cancer by targeting enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2).

Patients And Methods: The level of microRNA-130-5p was examined in the tumor tissues and paracancerous tissues of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Meanwhile, quantitative Real Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR) was used to detect the level of microRNA-130-5p in different lung adenocarcinoma cell lines, which was found markedly decreased in two lung cancer cell lines.

Objective: To clarify whether microRNA-646 could regulate the proliferative potential and cell cycle progression of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells through targeting mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR). It, therefore, could influence the occurrence and progression of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Patients And Methods: Quantitative Real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was used to detect expression of the levels of microRNA-646 and mTOR in tumor tissues and paracancerous tissues of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of microRNA-605-3p (miR-605-3p) on cell proliferation, invasion and migration in prostate cancer cells, as well as its effects on the Enhancer Zeste Homolog 2 (EZH2) expression and the potential regulatory mechanisms.

Patients And Methods: Quantitative Real Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR) was applied to detect the miR-605-3p expression in 52 pairs of Prostate Cancer (PCa) tissues and normal tissues, and to analyze the relationship between miR-605-3p expression and PCa pathological parameters. MiR-605-3p mimics were transfected into PCa cell line PC-3 and DU145 to achieve miR-605-3p overexpression.

Numerous studies have demonstrated the association between senescence and cancer. However, the molecular mechanism regulating senescence in ovarian cancer remains unknown. In the present study, the protein expression level of calbindin 1 (CALB1) in ovarian cancer was examined using western blot and immunohistochemistry.
