Colorectal cancer is a human malignancy ranked the third highest of the global incidence of malignant tumors. Rho GTPase-activating proteins (RHOGAPs) were identified functional in several processes of tumors. In the present study, through reverse transcription-quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) and western blot analysis, expression of Rho GTPase-activating protein 24 (ARHGAP24) and p53 was measured in colorectal cancer tissues, which was lower than that in adjacent normal tissues, revealing that ARHGAP24 may be implicated in the progress of colorectal cancer and , overexpression of ARHGAP24 in LoVo and HCT116 cells inhibited the cell ability and enhanced cell apoptosis, and accompanied with high protein expression of p53, p21 and Bax.

Diabetes Res Clin Pract

September 2018

College of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Materials, Soochow University, Suzhou 215123, PR China.

Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease resulting from insulin-secreting β-cells mediated by autoreactive T cells. We demonstrated increased level of sB7-H3 in T1D patients than in healthy control group. This result suggests that B7-H3 may be may be a promising biomarker associated with the pathogenesis of T1D.

The risk of rupture, the most feared clinical consequence of abdominal aortic aneurysm, increases with the enlargement of aorta. MicroRNA-29b (miR-29b) has emerged as a key modulator of extracellular matrix (ECM) homeostasis and thereby is proposed to play a crucial role in vascular remodeling. However, agents that alter miR-29b expression are relatively inefficient in the aorta, likely due to inferior uptake.

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) has been reported to be involved in adenomyosis by promoting cell invasion and fibrogenesis. But few studies have identified critical factors that regulate EMT process during adenomyosis. The eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit e (eIF3e) protein is a component of the multisubunit eIF3 complex essential for cap-dependent translation initiation.

Aim: Accumulating data showed that IL-27 polymorphisms are linked to the susceptibility of some autoimmune diseases. We assessed whether there was an association between two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of IL-27 gene and dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM).

Materials & Methods: Two SNPs (rs153109 and rs17855750) of IL-27 gene were genotyped by PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism in 261 DCM patients and 303 unrelated healthy subjects in Chinese Han population.

Dexamethasone (Dex) is commonly used to treat glioma; however, the mechanism underlying the action of Dex remains unclear. In the present study, the hypothesis that aquaporin-1 (AQP1) may participate in tumor cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration and invasion was tested using small interfering RNA (siRNA). The results of the current study indicated that Dex could inhibit the proliferation, in addition to promoting the migration, of C6 cells.

Center of Translational Medicine, Zibo Central Hospital, 54# Gongqingtuan Road, Zibo, 255036, Shandong, People's Republic of China.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are non-protein-coding transcripts shown to play important roles in tumourigenesis and tumour progression. Our study aimed to examine expression of the lncRNA MAGI2-AS3 in breast cancer and to explore its function in cancer cell growth. First, MAGI2-AS3 expression levels in clinical samples and cell lines were determined by quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR).

Article Synopsis
  • Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common and deadly form of cancer, with microRNAs (like miR-495) playing a significant role in its development and progression.
  • miR-495 is often found at lower levels in HCC tissues and its expression is linked to tumor characteristics such as size and metastasis, suggesting it could be a crucial factor in HCC outcomes.
  • Research indicates that increasing miR-495 can inhibit cancer cell growth and invasion, as it targets the IGF1R gene, pointing to its potential as a therapeutic target in HCC treatment.

Background: Sheng-ji Hua-yu(SJHY) formula is one of the most useful Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the treatment of the delayed diabetic wound. However, elucidating the related molecular biological mechanism of how the SJHY Formula affects excessive inflammation in the process of re-epithelialization of diabetic wound healing is a task urgently needed to be fulfilled. The objectives of this study is to evaluate the effect of antagonisic expression of pro-/anti-inflammatory factors on transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β) superfamily (activin and follistatin) in the process of re-epithelialization of diabetic wound healing in vivo, and to characterize the involvement of the activin/follistatin protein expression regulation, phospho-Smad (pSmad2), and Nuclear factor kappa B p50 (NF-kB) p50 in the diabetic wound healing effects of SJHY formula.
