Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and primary pancreatic cancer are common malignant tumors of the digestive system. However, there are significant differences in treatment methods, medication types, and survival prognoses. For patients whose imaging findings suggest there to be a significant pancreatic mass and multiple masses in the liver, it can be easily misdiagnosed as a primary pancreatic cancer with liver metastasis in the clinic instead.

Introduction: Patient-reported outcome-based symptom monitoring and alerting have been attractive for patient care after a tumour-removal surgery. However, the implementation parameters of this patient-centred symptom management system in perioperative patients with lung cancer are still lacking. We aim to develop a perioperative symptom scale (PSS) for monitoring, to determine the optimal time points for symptom assessment and to define the alert thresholds for medical intervention.

Research has revealed that microRNA (miR)‑4500 is downregulated in non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and miR‑4500 suppresses tumor growth by targeting lin‑28 homolog B and NRAS proto‑oncogene, GTPase. In the present study, it was reported that signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) may function as a novel target gene for miR‑4500 in NSCLC. The experiments conducted in the present study confirmed that the miR‑4500 expression was decreased in NSCLC tissues and cells compared with adjacent normal tissues and a normal lung cell line.

In the present study, the expression of microRNA (miR)‑671‑3p in non‑small‑cell lung cancer (NSCLC) was detected via reverse transcription‑quantitative polymerase chain reaction analysis, and its role in cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration and invasion was investigated via Cell Counting Kit‑8, colony formation, flow cytometry, Transwell and scratch assays, respectively. It was observed that the expression of miR‑671‑3p was upregulated in NSCLC tissues and cell lines (A549 and H1975). Treatment with miR‑671‑3p inhibitors suppressed cell proliferation, migration and invasion, and increased apoptosis in vitro, suggesting that miR‑671‑3p functions as an oncogene in NSCLC.
