To investigate the effects of early-onset sepsis (EOS) on retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in extremely premature infants (EPIs) by using propensity score matching (PSM). Clinical data of 591 EPIs admitted to NICU, Senior Department of Pediatric, PLA General Hospital from May 1, 2015 to May 1, 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. They were divided into an EOS group and a non-EOS group according to whether they had confirmed EOS or not.

Febrile Infection-Related Epilepsy Syndrome (FIRES) is an infrequent yet severe form of epilepsy that rapidly evolves into status epilepticus following a febrile episode. Prompt diagnosis coupled with effective treatment strategies is critical for improving patient outcomes. Herein, we describe the case of an 11-year-old male with FIRES who was successfully treated with tocilizumab, resulting in no further seizures or residual disability.

The dysregulation of circular RNAs (circRNAs) has been associated with OC development and progression. This study investigated the role of circZNF609 in ovarian cancer (OC) by analyzing its impact on cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Initially, the study assessed the expression of circZNF609 in OC tissues and adjacent normal tissues.

Introduction: Decreased periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) stemness is a key factor in age-related alveolar bone loss. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress is closely related to age-related diseases and the mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) stemness. However, the role of ER stress in regulating the stemness of senescent PDLSCs and its potential mechanism remain unclear.

Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has been associated with disrupted brain connectivity, yet a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic neural underpinnings remains lacking. This study employed concurrent electroencephalography (EEG) and functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) techniques to investigate dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) patterns and neurovascular characteristics in children with ASD. We also explored associations between neurovascular characteristics and the developmental trajectory of adaptive behavior in individuals with ASD.

Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) poses a significant challenge due to its diverse impact on individuals, emphasizing the need for personalized treatment plans. The financial burden of ASD-related healthcare is substantial, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of its prevalence and evolving trends.
Methods: This study aims to analyze the prevalence and trends of ASD, treatment patterns, gender differences, and racial-ethnic disparities in the United States from 2017 to 2020, utilizing nationally representative data from the National Survey of Children's Health (NSCH).

N1-methyladenosine (mA) is a reversible epigenetic modification of RNAs. Aberrant mA modification levels due to dysregulation of mA regulators have been observed in multiple cancers. tRNA methyltransferase 10C (TRMT10C) can install mA in RNAs; however, its role in hepatoblastoma remains unknown.

Background: Surgery is an important treatment modality for patients with digestive system tumors, and perioperative management is crucial for the patients' recovery and quality of life. During the perioperative period, significant changes can occur in the oral environment of patients, such as dry mouth, mucosal ulceration, and oral infections. These issues not only cause discomfort to the patients but may also affect postoperative recovery and treatment outcomes.

Objective: Exploring the predictive value of NLR, PLR, MLR, and SII for the severity of cervical cancer screening abnormalities in patients.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the data of 324 patients suspected of cervical lesions due to abnormal TCT and/or HPV in our hospital from January 2023 to December 2023, who underwent colposcopy. The pathological results of colposcopic biopsy confirmed that there were 140 cases of chronic cervicitis, which classified as the group without cervical lesions.

Alternative splicing (AS) is a universal phenomenon in eukaryotes, and it is still challenging to identify AS events. Several methods have been developed to identify AS events, such as expressed sequence tags (EST), microarrays and RNA-seq. However, EST has limitations in identifying low-abundance genes, while microarray and RNA-seq are high-throughput technologies, and PCR-based technology is needed for validation.

Adequate bowel cleansing is crucial for endoscopic diagnosis and treatment, and the recovery of gut microbiota after intestinal cleansing is also important. A hypertonic syrup predominantly comprising L-arabinose and D-xylose (20% xylo-oligosaccharides) can be extracted from the hemicellulose of corn husks and cobs. L-Arabinose and xylo-oligosaccharides have been reported to relieve constipation and improve the gut microbial environment.
