Background: The morphology of the suprascapular notch (SSN) and the ossification of the superior transverse suprascapular ligament (STSL) are risk factors for injury of the suprascapular nerve (SN) during arthroscopic shoulder procedures. The purpose of the current study was to compare preoperative clinical and radiologic characteristics between patients with and without STSL ossification and to evaluate SSN morphology in patients who underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair using a 3-dimensional (3D) reconstructed model.
Methods: Patients who underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and were given a computed tomography (CT) scan from March 2018 to August 2019 were included in this study.

How to address the resistance of cisplatin (CDDP) has always been a clinical challenge. The resistance mechanism of platinum-based drugs is very complex, including nuclear DNA damage repair, apoptosis escape, and tumor metabolism reprogramming. Tumor cells can switch between mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) and glycolysis and develop resistance to chemotherapy drugs through metabolic variability.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) compromises the blood-spinal cord barrier (BSCB) and induces neuroinflammation, potentially exacerbating neuronal damage. This underscores the importance of maintaining BSCB integrity and mitigating neuroinflammation in SCI treatment. Our study explores an innovative approach to treating SCI by utilizing platelet-rich plasma-derived exosomes (PRP-Exos) to stabilize BSCB function and alleviate neuroinflammation.

Inflammatory diseases provide substantial worldwide concerns, affecting millions of people and healthcare systems by causing ongoing discomfort, diminished quality of life, and increased expenses. In light of the progress made in treatments, the limited effectiveness and negative side effects of present pharmaceuticals need a more comprehensive comprehension of the underlying processes in order to develop more precise remedies. Exosomes, which are tiny vesicles that play a vital role in cell communication, have been identified as prospective vehicles for effective delivery of anti-inflammatory medicines, immunomodulators, and gene treatments.

Background: Stapokibart/CM310, a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting the interleukin-4 receptor α chain, has shown promising treatment benefits in patients with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis in previous phase II clinical trials.
Objective: We aimed to evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of stapokibart in adults with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis.
Methods: Enrolled patients who previously completed parent trials of stapokibart received a subcutaneous stapokibart 600-mg loading dose, then 300 mg every 2 weeks up to 52 weeks.

This study investigated the effects of ultrasound-assisted soybean lecithin (SL) on the rehydration behavior and physical properties of egg white protein powder (EWPP) and its ability to enhance the efficacy of EWPP instant solubility. The results of rehydration, including wettability and dispersibility, indicated that ultrasound (200 W)-assisted SL (5 g/L) addition had the shortest wetting time and dispersion time, which were 307.14 ± 7.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic, non-specific inflammatory condition characterized by recurring inflammation of the intestinal mucosa. However, the existing IBD treatments are ineffective and have serious side effects. The etiology of IBD is multifactorial and encompasses immune, genetic, environmental, dietary, and microbial factors.

Background: Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) poses a significant challenge globally as a complication of diabetes. Hyaluronan (HA), a critical non-sulfated glycosaminoglycan in the extracellular matrix, plays a pivotal role in the progression of DKD. This study assesses the predictive significance of HA's corresponding receptor, RHAMM (receptor for HA-mediated motility), in DKD pathogenesis in type 2 diabetes (T2DM) patients.

Background: Acinic cell carcinoma (AciCC) of the breast is a rare subtype of breast cancer. It was considered a low-grade triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) with the potential to progress or transform into a high-grade lesion because of the molecular similarities with conventional aggressive TNBC in several genetic studies. Microscopically, the coexistence of classical low-grade and high-grade triple-negative components in breast AciCC is not uncommon.

Background: Growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF15), a stress-responsive cytokine from transforming growth factor superfamily, is highly expressed in mammalian tissues, including pancreas, stomach and intestine under pathological conditions. In particular, elevated levels of GDF15 might play an important role in the development and progression of various gastrointestinal cancers (GCs), suggesting its potential as a promising target for disease prediction and treatment.
Methods: In this review, systematic reviews addressing the role of GDF15 in GCs were updated, along with the latest clinical trials focussing on the GDF15-associated digestive malignancies.

Proximal humerus fractures (PHFs) are common in the elderly and usually involve defects in the medial column. The current standard for medial column reconstruction is a lateral locking plate (LLP) in combination with either an intramedullary fibula support or an autogenous fibula graft. However, autogenous fibula graft can lead to additional trauma for patients and allogeneic fibular graft can increase patients' economic burden and pose risks of infection and disease transmission.

In this study, nanofibrous membranes were fabricated through co-axial electrospinning utilizing polycaprolactone (PCL) and silk fibroin (SF) as the Janus shell, and taxifolin (TAX) and SF as the core. The resulting nanofibers had diameters of 816 ± 161 nm and core diameters of 73 ± 5 nm.

Tumor mRNA vaccines present a personalized approach in cancer immunotherapy, encoding distinct tumor antigens to evoke robust immune responses and offering the potential against emerging tumor variants. Despite this, the clinical advancement of tumor mRNA vaccines has been hampered by their limited delivery capacity and inefficient activation of antigen-presenting cells (APCs). Herein, we employed microfluidics technology to engineer mannose-modified lipid-based nanovaccines for specifically targeting APCs.

Bone defects, resulting from trauma, inflammation, tumors, and various other factors, affect both health and quality of life. Although autologous bone transplantation is the gold-standard treatment for bone defects, it has disadvantages such as donor site limitations, prolonged surgical durations, and potential complications, necessitating the development of alternative bone tissue engineering materials. In this study, we used 3D printing technology to fabricate porous titanium implants characterized by superior biocompatibility and mechanical properties.

Significance: Blue light with wavelengths of 380-445 nm can harm the retina, leading to the development of blue-blocking lenses (BBLs). Understanding whether BBLs affect color vision test outcomes and color discrimination ability is crucial for people in color-associated jobs.
Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of BBLs on color vision tests and analyze color discrimination using mathematical models of color spaces.

Myocardial infarction (MI) is a severe global clinical condition with widespread prevalence. The adult mammalian heart's limited capacity to generate new cardiomyocytes (CMs) in response to injury remains a primary obstacle in developing effective therapies. Current approaches focus on inducing the proliferation of existing CMs through cell-cycle reentry.
