Introduction: This trial aimed to compare the efficacy and safety between biosimilar QL1207 and the reference aflibercept for the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD).

Methods: This randomized, double-blind, phase 3 trial was conducted at 35 centers in China. Patients aged ≥ 50 years old with untreated subfoveal choroidal neovascularization secondary to nAMD and best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) letter score of 73-34 were eligible.

Background: The current definitions and etiologies of acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) are clearly very different between East and West.

Aims: This study aimed to develop an effective prognostic nomogram for acute-on-chronic hepatitis B liver failure (ACHBLF) as defined by the Asia Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL).

Methods: The nomogram was based on a retrospective study of 573 patients with ACHBLF, defined according to the APASL, at the Beijing Ditan Hospital.

Risk of tuberculosis infection in anti-TNF-α biological therapy: from bench to bedside.

Department of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology, The Second Xiangya Hospital of Center South University, Changsha, Hunan 410011, China.

Anti-tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) biological agents, including soluble TNF-α receptors and anti-TNF-α monoclonal antibodies, bring new hope for treating rheumatic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, but also increase the risk of infection, especially tuberculosis (TB) infection. Recent findings have shown that the physiological TNF-mediated signaling was somehow impaired by TNF antagonists, leading to the exacerbation of chronic infection associated with aberrant granuloma formation and maintenance. Although both receptor and antibody agents appear to pose an equally high risk in causing development of new TB infections, monoclonal anti-TNF-α antibody seems more inclined to reactivate latent TB infection.

Right colon carcinoma with duodenal invasion is rare, and optimal management remains controversial. Twenty patients demonstrating right-colon carcinoma directly invading the duodenum presented at the Second Xiangya Hospital between 1990 and 2006. Different surgical management strategies were selected based on duodenal involvement, and patient outcomes were evaluated.

Background & Objective: Tumor growth was the result of cell excessive proliferation and lack of apoptosis. Apoptosis has been considered to be closely associated with Caspase-3 and Bcl-2. This study was designed to investigate the expression of Caspase-3 and Bcl-2 to evaluate their effects on the tumorigenesis and progression in bladder transitional carcinoma (BTCC).
