Crohn's disease (CD) is caused by immune, environmental, and genetic factors. It can involve the entire gastrointestinal tract, and although its prevalence is rapidly increasing its etiology remains unclear. Emerging biological and small-molecule drugs have advanced the treatment of CD; however, a considerable proportion of patients are non-responsive to all known drugs.

Background: Obesity plays a vital role in the occurrence and development of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). However, the underlining mechanism is still unclear, where adipose tissue (AT) derived exosomes may actively participate. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are commonly secreted from exosomes for cell communication.

Objective: Mesencephalic astrocyte-derived neurotrophic factor (MANF) expressions are dramatically up-regulated in injured brain tissues, thereby conferring neurological protective effects. We intended to determine significance of serum MANF as a prognostic biomarker of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH).

Methods: In this prospective, observational study done from February 2018 to July 2021, 124 patients with new-onset primary supratentorial ICH were consecutively enrolled.

Objective: Cordycepin, also known as 3'-deoxyadenosine, is the main bioactive ingredient of and possesses various pharmacological effects. This study was performed to investigate the role of cordycepin in regulating the biological behaviors of colon cancer cells and the potential mechanism behind it.

Materials And Methods: In this experimental study, after treatment of colon cancer cells with different concentrations of cordycepin, inhibition of proliferation was detected by the 3-(4,5-dimethythiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay.

The imbalance of Th17/Treg cells is involved in the progression of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in mice.

BMC Immunol

June 2017

Department of Laboratory Medicine, First Affiliated Hospital, College of Medicine, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, 310003, Zhejiang, People's Republic of China.

Background: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common, chronic liver disease worldwide. Recent studies have shown that T helper (Th) 17 and regulatory T (Treg) cells play critical roles in various disorders of liver inflammation. Here, we explored the value of polyene phosphatidylcholine capsules (PPC) for regulating the imbalance of Th17/Treg cells in the pathogenesis of mice with NAFLD.
