: To create a novel preoperative prediction model based on a deep learning algorithm to predict neoplasm T staging and grading in patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC). : We performed a retrospective cohort study of patients diagnosed with UTUC between 2001 and 2012 at our institution. Five deep learning algorithms (CGRU, BiGRU, CNN-BiGRU, CBiLSTM, and CNN-BiLSTM) were used to develop a preoperative prediction model for neoplasm T staging and grading.

Trefoil Factor 1 (TFF1) is considered to be able to inhibit the formation of kidney stone. However, genetic variants in TFF1 and corresponding function in kidney stone development are still not well studied. In this study, the discovery set including 230 cases and 250 controls was used to analyze the association between seven tagSNPs of TFF1 gene and the nephrolithiasis risk.

Department of Emergency, Jiangsu Province Hospital, The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, PR China. Electronic address:

Backgrounds: Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a pathological state presenting at the progressive stage of heterogeneous interstitial lung disease (ILD). The current understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved is incomplete. This clinical toxicology study focused on the pulmonary fibrosis induced by paraquat (PQ), a widely-used herbicide.

Background: A paucity of strategies exist for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC) patients who fail the first-line chemotherapy. Apatinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) that selectively inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR-2), which has been demonstrated to have active anti-tumor activity in ES-SCLC when used only or combined with PD-1 inhibitors or chemotherapy with good tolerance. However, the efficacy and safety of apatinib monotherapy is unclear in second-line or beyond treatment of ES-SCLC.

Atypical manifestations of acute coronary syndrome - throat discomfort: a multi-center observational study.

Front Med

August 2022

ENT Institute and Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Eye & ENT Hospital, State Key Laboratory of Medical Neurobiology, Fudan University, Shanghai, 200031, China.

To present the clinical characteristics and the misdiagnosis rate of acute coronary syndrome manifested primarily as throat discomfort, we conducted a multicentric and retrospective study in the cardiology and otorhinolaryngology departments. Records of patients with primary complaint of throat discomfort, absence of chest pain at onset, and an ultimate diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome, as well as patients with pharyngitis (as controls) were collected from May 2015 to April 2016. The patients' main manifestations were compared.

Sleep disturbance is common in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD), and orexin A is a pivotal neurotransmitter for bidirectionally regulating the amyloid-β (Aβ) deposition of AD brain and poor sleep. In the present study, we examined the characteristic of sleep-wake architecture in APPswe/PSldE9 (APP/PS1) and Aβ-treated mice using electroencephalogram (EEG) and electromyographic (EMG) analysis. We compared the expression of orexin A, distribution, and morphology of the corresponding orexin A-positive neurons using innovative methods including three-dimensional reconstruction and brain tissue clearing between wild type (WT) and APP/PS1 mice.

Background: Increased evidence indicates that the tumour microenvironment (TME) plays an essential role in the development, treatment and prognosis of glioma. High expression of interferon-gamma-inducible protein 30 () is associated with the malignant phenotype, but the effect of on the tumour immune microenvironment and its potential role in the carcinogenesis of glioma remain unknown.

Methods: The RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data of 33 types of human cancer were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Genomic Data Commons (GDC).

Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic value of circulating microRNA-1 (miR-1) in early coronary artery plaque rupture in patients with stable coronary artery disease (SCAD).

Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted. Sixty-seven patients with SCAD admitted to the department of cardiology of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from January to June in 2019 were enrolled.

Article Synopsis
  • Research indicates that primary aldosteronism (PA) is associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular issues compared to essential hypertension (EH), but it's unclear if they differ in terms of endothelial dysfunction.
  • A study measuring biomarkers (ADMA, PAI-1, E-selectin) and microvascular function in patients with PA and EH found no significant differences between the two conditions.
  • Both PA and EH patients exhibited comparable levels of endothelial function and dysfunction biomarkers, suggesting that they may have similar microvascular health despite differing cardiovascular risks.

Background: Peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) is widely used in chemotherapy due to its minimal complications and simple wound care. This study explored the effects of tai chi on catheterrelated complications, catheter management ability, and quality of life in tumor patients with PICC at the intermission of chemotherapy.

Methods: This study was an open parallel trial.

Transplantation of GABAergic Interneuron Progenitor Attenuates Cognitive Deficits of Alzheimer's Disease Model Mice.

Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Translational Research and Therapy for Neuro-Psycho-Diseases, Institute of Neuroscience, Soochow University, Suzhou, China.

Excitatory (E) and inhibitory (I) balance of neural network activity is essential for normal brain function and of particular importance to memory. Disturbance of E/I balance contributes to various neurological disorders. The appearance of neural hyperexcitability in Alzheimer's disease (AD) is even suggested as one of predictors of accelerated cognitive decline.

Background: To explore the significance of circulating miRNA-1 (miR-1) released within 3 h after the onset of acute chest pain in the diagnosis and prognosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI).

Methods: A total of 337 patients with acute chest pain within 3 h were enrolled in this study and divided into AMI group and non-AMI group. The AMI diagnostic efficacy of miR-1 was determined and compared with that of cardiac troponin I (cTnI).

Introduction: The aim was to evaluate the diagnostic value of the Nakagawa and Csendes pathology classification systems in preoperative imaging of Mirizzi syndrome. Mirizzi syndrome is a type of biliary system obstruction caused by stones impacted in a gallbladder neck or cystic duct situated parallel to the common bile duct, causing extrinsic common bile duct stenosis or obstruction, which can lead to recurrent obstructive jaundice, bile duct erosion, and cholangitis. Therefore, the preoperative identification and classification of Mirizzi syndrome is vital for a good surgical result.

In our study, we aimed to investigate the role of CDR1as during competitive inhibition of miR-7 in the regulation of cisplatin chemosensitivity in breast cancer via regulating REGγ. RT-qPCR was applied to detect the expression of CDR1as and miR-7 in breast cancer tissues, breast cancer cell lines and corresponding drug-resistant cell lines. The correlation between CDR1as and miR-7 and between miR-7 and REGγ was evaluated.
