Induction regimens with satisfactory remission rates are limited for patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) who are elderly or ineligible for intensive chemotherapy. This study is a single-arm, multicenter, prospective phase I/II study (registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry as ChiCTR 2200059694 on May 8, 2022), aiming to evaluate the efficacy and safety of venetoclax plus decitabine, cytarabine, aclarubicin, and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (VD-CAG) for newly diagnosed AML patients who are elderly or ineligible for intensive chemotherapy. The primary endpoint was composite complete remission (CRc) after 1 cycle of induction chemotherapy.

The combination of venetoclax (VEN) with hypomethylating agents (HMAs) improves survival in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and may cause neutropenia requiring combined antifungal therapy or prophylaxis. The inhibition of cytochrome P450 activity by azole antifungal agents leads to elevated blood concentrations of VEN. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of venetoclax plus azacitidine (AZA) with azoles in newly diagnosed AML patients.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). TQB2450 (benmelstobart) is a novel humanized immunoglobulin G1 monoclonal antibody against programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1). Anlotinib, an oral multitargeted anti-angiogenic agent with potential synergy with ICIs, has shown efficacy in relapsed and advanced NSCLC.

Acute variceal bleeding is a life-threatening condition and a common cause of cirrhosis-related death, severe acute bleeding is difficult to treat and has a high mortality rate, drug treatment is often ineffective. We encountered a patient with cirrhosis with ruptured and bleeding gastroscopic varices requiring emergency endoscopic surgical treatment. However, in the routine left lateral position the treatment was interfered with by a fresh blood clot obscuring the gastric fundus.

Article Synopsis
  • SCT510 is a biosimilar to bevacizumab (Avastin) and was tested for its effectiveness, safety, and other factors in patients with advanced non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
  • The study included 567 eligible patients who were randomly assigned to receive either SCT510 or bevacizumab, showing similar objective response rates and no significant differences in other secondary endpoints regarding efficacy or safety.
  • Results indicate that SCT510 is equivalent to the reference product bevacizumab, which suggests it can be a viable alternative treatment option for patients with advanced NSCLC.

Background: Lymphocyte antigen 9 (LY9) participates in the development of several tumors and diseases but has not been reported yet in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD).

Methods: First, we analyzed the expression and prognostic value of LY9 in pan-cancer, including LUAD. Additionally, we conducted a correlation analysis of LY9 expression in LUAD with immune cell infiltration using the TIMER database and the CIBERSORT algorithm, and with immune checkpoints using the GEPIA database.

This study aimed to explore the relationship between shift-working nurses' social jetlag and body mass index (BMI) and provide a theoretical basis for nursing managers to develop appropriate health interventions. Shift work is unavoidable in nursing and is associated with circadian rhythm disorders. Social jetlag is prevalent in shift-working nurses and is associated with adverse health outcomes (particularly metabolism-related indicators).

Article Synopsis
  • Immunochemotherapy is the main treatment for extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC), and adding anti-angiogenesis may enhance its effectiveness.
  • The ETER701 trial tested a new treatment combining benmelstobart (a PD-L1 inhibitor) and anlotinib (an anti-angiogenic drug) with standard chemotherapy in newly diagnosed ES-SCLC patients.
  • The results showed that those receiving benmelstobart and anlotinib had significantly longer overall survival compared to the standard chemotherapy alone, with manageable side effects, indicating this combination could be a promising first-line treatment.

Applications of MRI in Schizophrenia: Current Progress in Establishing Clinical Utility.

J Magn Reson Imaging

February 2025

Department of Radiology, and Functional and Molecular Imaging Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Chengdu, China.

Schizophrenia is a severe mental illness that significantly impacts the lives of affected individuals and with increasing mortality rates. Early detection and intervention are crucial for improving outcomes but the lack of validated biomarkers poses great challenges in such efforts. The use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in schizophrenia enables the investigation of the disorder's etiological and neuropathological substrates in vivo.

Background: The recent usage of immunotherapy combined with chemoradiotherapy has improved survival in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. However, determining the most effective therapy combination remains a topic of debate. Research suggests immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) post-chemoradiotherapy enhance survival, but the impact of concurrent ICIs during chemoradiotherapy on rapid disease progression is unclear.

Biomineral-binding liposomes with dual antibacterial effects for preventing and treating dental caries.

Biomater Sci

August 2023

Key Laboratory of Medical Electrophysiology, Ministry of Education, School of Pharmacy, Southwest Medical University, Luzhou, Sichuan 646000, China.

Dental caries is a chronic oral disease that results from the demineralization of dental hard tissues caused by the long-term interaction of various pathogenic factors in the human oral cavity. Although magnolol (Mag) and fluconazole (FLC) have shown promising antibacterial activity against () and (), their clinical application is limited due to hydrophobicity. In this study, we constructed biomineral-binding liposomes co-loaded with Mag and FLC (PPi-Mag/FLC-LPs) to overcome the hydrophobicity and achieve a dual antibacterial activity in the acidic microenvironment of caries.
