Background: Cardiac embolism is a common cause of ischemic stroke in young adults. Neurological complications associated with atrial myxoma most frequently include cerebral infarct due to embolus. Early complete resection of giant cardiac myxoma is the key to its treatment and prevention of stroke recurrence.

Background: Alzheimer disease (AD) is an age-related neurodegenerative disease that accounts for nearly three fourths of dementia cases. Searching for potential biomarkers will help clinicians in the early diagnosis and treatment of AD.

Methods: Firstly, we downloaded detailed AD data from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database for identification of differentially expressed microribonucleic acids (DEmiRNAs) and differentially expressed messenger ribonucleic acids (DEmRNAs).

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is often caused by chronic liver infection or inflammation. Searching for potential immunotherapy targets will aid the early diagnosis and treatment of HCC.

Methods: Firstly, detailed HCC data were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas database.

This study assessed the efficacy and safety of tirofiban in combination with dual-antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) in progressive ischemic stroke. One hundred and four patients equally divided into a tirofiban group or DAPT group were enrolled from June 2018 to December 2019. Efficacy outcomes included National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score for 14 days, and modified Rankin scale (mRs) scores as excellent (mRs 0-1) or favorable (mRs 0-2) measured 90 days after stroke.

Temozolomide (TMZ) is commonly used in glioblastoma (GBM) chemotherapy. However, a great challenge for TMZ treatment is the rapid development of resistance and subsequent tumor recurrence and poor outcome. In the present study we established TMZ-resistant GBM cells (U87-TR and U251-TR) and found that the expression of PomGnT1 was significantly upregulated in TMZ-resistant GBM cells compared with the TMZ-sensitive counterparts.

Hypoxic‑ischemia stress causes severe brain injury, leading to death and disability worldwide. Although it has been reported that endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress is an essential step in the progression of hypoxia or ischemia‑induced brain injury, the underlying molecular mechanisms are and have not yet been fully elucidated. Accumulating evidence has indicated that both nitric oxide (NO) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) play an important role in the development of cerebral ischemic injury.

SOX6 plays important roles in cell proliferation, differentiation, and cell fate determination. It has been confirmed that SOX6 is a tumor suppressor and downregulated in various cancers, including esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, and chronic myeloid leukemia. Netrin-1 is highly expressed in various human cancers and acts as an anti-apoptotic and proangiogenic factor to drive tumorigenesis.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to identify the diagnostic values of serum exosomal miRNA-34s of patients with HB in a large Asian group and explore the prognostic value of the exosomal miRNA-34s panel compared with other risk factors.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 89 children with HB. Among these patients, 63 patients were included as training group to build the diagnostic model for HB.

Objective: Preeclampsia (PE) is a disorder of pregnancy marked by hypertension and proteinuria with no known treatment aside from pregnancy termination. The pathogenesis of PE is poorly understood, but is thought to originate in the placenta. We assessed the value of measuring serum and urinary soluble deformylase-like tyrosine kinase receptor 1 (sFlt-1), a known target of placental factors, and placental growth factor (PLGF), a key placental signaling molecule, in the diagnosis of PE.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR), a major complication of diabetes mellitus, is the leading cause of adult blindness. The Toll-like receptor (TLR) family is believed to be involved in the pathogenesis and progression of DR. Here, we investigated the expression profiles of TLR-2 and TLR-4 in retinal ganglion cells (RGCs), in an attempt to elucidate the role of these molecules in the etiology of DR.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to identify the association between miR-34's family and the prognosis of HB in a large Asian cohort and to explore the interaction of miR-34 with other independent risk factors in the process of affecting prognosis of HB.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 78 children with HB (36 female, 42 male) managed in our institutions between 2007 and 2014. The expression of miR-34 was detected by real-time PCR.
