Background: Recent evidence shows that CHD4 is involved in a variety of biological events of tumors. Our aim was to investigate the correlation between CHD4 and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC).

Methods: After CHD4 was screened as a differentially expressed gene in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TGCA) database, the correlations of its expression level with the clinical parameters and prognosis of patients with OSCC were analyzed.

T cells modified to co-express cytokine or other factors with chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) can induce substantial and persistent increases in antitumor capacity . However, the uncontrolled expression of cytokines or factors can lead to the overactivation of immune cells, causing severe adverse events such as cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and neurotoxicity by CAR T cells with excessive growth potential. Conventional promoters are unregulated, and their expression is unlimited in T cells.

Background: Early diagnosis of gastric cancer is difficult in China due to the lack of a valid method for endoscopic screening. Early gastric cancer, especially flat gastric cancer, lacks specific endoscopic features. Many cases appear to be similar to ordinary gastritis cases under normal white light endoscopy, which can lead to misdiagnosis.

Electronic address:

Glypican-3 (GPC3) is an attractive target for chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy, as it is overexpressed in most hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues but shows restricted expression in healthy adult tissues. Herein, we generated GPC3-specific CAR-T cells for HCC therapy by electroporation with plasmid DNA encoding the piggyBac (PB) transposon and the hyperactive piggyBac transposase simultaneously instead of by commonly-used viral vectors. Our results demonstrated that GPC3CAR gene was efficiently integrated into the genome of T cells utilizing the PB transposon system.

Use of simulator for EUS training in the diagnosis of pancreatobiliary diseases.

Endosc Ultrasound

January 2019

Department of Gastroenterology, Changhai Hospital, The Second Military University, Shanghai, China.

Background And Objectives: EUS has been widely used in the diagnosis of pancreatobiliary diseases. However, improvements in the conventional training pattern of EUS are needed urgently. In this study, we compared the results achieved after use of clinical practice training patterns combined with or without simulator training and evaluated the effectiveness of simulator use in EUS training.

The potential functions of FAM46C in oral squamous cell carcinoma.

Onco Targets Ther

December 2018

Department of Oral Surgery, Shanghai Stomatological Hospital, Shanghai, China,

Purpose: FAM46C is known as a tumor suppressor in multiple myeloma. However, there are few studies about the expression and function of FAM46C in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), which is one of the most common oral cancers in the world.

Methods: mRNA and protein expression level were determined by real time PCR and Western blot, respectively.

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is one of the major microvascular complications in diabetes. Podocyte injury such as slit diaphragm effacement is regarded as a determinant in the occurrence and development of albuminuria in DN. In this study, we examined the effect of hyperoside, an active flavonoid glycoside, on proteinuria and renal damage in a streptozotocin-induced DN mouse model at the early stage.

Establishment of a novel system for the culture and expansion of hepatic stem-like cancer cells.

Cancer Lett

Laboratory of Viral and Gene Therapy Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgical Hospital & Institute, The Second Military University, Shanghai 200438, China; Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Cell Therapy, Shanghai 200438, China. Electronic address:

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major primary liver malignancy in adults. Despite the progress made, the outcome of the treatment to this disease is less than satisfactory as the post therapy tumor recurrence is almost inevitable. Accumulating pieces of evidence have suggested that the recurrence is due to the existence of a subpopulation of the HCC cells that possess the properties of stem cells and are resistant to radiation and chemotherapy.

p28(GANK) associates with p300 to attenuate the acetylation of RelA.

Mol Carcinog

December 2015

International Co-Operation Laboratory on Signal Transduction, Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Institute, Second Military Medical University, Shanghai, People's Republic of China.

Oncoprotein p28(GANK), overexpressed in hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC), binds to RelA and retains NF-κB in the cytoplasm to suppress NF-κB transactivation. However, the mechanism has not yet been elucidated. In this study, we clarified the mechanism of NF-κB regulated by p28(GANK).

Dendritic cell (DC)-based cancer immunotherapy is a promising method, but so far has demonstrated limited clinical benefits. Regulatory T cells (Tregs) represent a major obstacle to cancer immunotherapy approaches. Here we show that inhibiting p38 MAPK during DC differentiation enables DCs to activate tumour-specific effector T cells (Teff), inhibiting the conversion of Treg and compromising Treg inhibitory effects on Teff.

Establishment and characterization of a cell line, EH-GB2, derived from hepatic metastasis of gallbladder cancer.

Oncol Rep

March 2012

Department of First Biliary Surgery, Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgical Hospital and Institute, The Second Military University, Shanghai 200438, PR China.

Gallbladder cancer is a fatal neoplasia with an extremely low survival rate. Liver invasion and metastasis are the most common causes of death; however, the metastatic mechanism is still unclear, and no effective treatment methods are available. To provide comprehensive and profound approaches in investigating the metastatic mechanism and treatment methods, new cell lines derived from liver metastasis are urgently needed.

Background: Acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is an early characteristic of multiple organ dysfunction, responsible for high mortality and poor prognosis in patients. The present study aims to evaluate therapeutic effects and mechanisms of pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC) on ALI.

Methods: Alveolar-arterial oxygen difference, lung tissue edema and compromise, NF-κB activation in polymorphonuclear neutrophil (PMN), and systemic levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFa) and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in rabbits induced by the intravenous administration of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and treated with PDTC.

[Experiment of genes expression of chemokines and their receptors in allergic rhinitis with gene chip].

Lin Chuang Er Bi Yan Hou Ke Za Zhi

January 2005

Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Changhai Hospital, the Second Military University, Shanghai, 200433, China.

Objective: To analyze the role of chemokines and their receptors in the mechanism of allergic rhinitis (AR) by observing the expression of genes of chemokines and their receptors in nasal mucosa of AR through gene chip.

Method: The total RNAs were isolated from nasal mucosa of AR and purified to mRNAs, then reversely transcribed to cDNAs and incorporated with fluorescent-labled CY5-dUPT for probes preparion. CY3-dUTP probes prepared with normal nasal mucosa of normal for control.
