Background: Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) isolation in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has been associated with a poor prognosis. This meta-analysis aimed to determine significant risk factors for PA isolation among patients with COPD.
Methods: A systematic literature retrieval from PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) was conducted, including studies from January 2003 to September 2024.

Background: The prevalence of neoplastic polyps in gallbladder polyps (GPs) increases sharply with age and is associated with gallbladder carcinoma (GBC). This study aims to predict neoplastic polyps and provide appropriate treatment strategies based on preoperative ultrasound features in patients with different age level.
Methods: According to the age classification of WHO, 1523 patients with GPs who underwent cholecystectomy from January 2015 to December 2019 at 11 tertiary hospitals in China were divided into young adults group (n=622), middle-aged group (n=665) and elderly group (n=236).

Background: Intersphincteric resection (ISR), the ultimate anus-preserving technique for ultralow rectal cancers, is an alternative to abdominoperineal resection (APR). The failure patterns and risk factors for local recurrence and distant metastasis remain controversial and require further investigation.
Aim: To investigate the long-term outcomes and failure patterns after laparoscopic ISR in ultralow rectal cancers.

Background And Aim: Refractory anastomotic leakage (RAL) after intersphincteric resection (ISR) usually leads to failure of protective stoma reversal in ultralow rectal cancers. The aim of this study is to assess the risk factors and oncological outcomes of both anastomotic leakage (AL) and RAL, and quality of life (QoL) of RAL after laparoscopic ISR (LsISR).
Methods: A total of 371 ultralow rectal cancer patients with LsISR were enrolled from a tertiary colorectal surgery referral center.

Background: Polyp size of 10 mm is insufficient to discriminate neoplastic and non-neoplastic risk in patients with gallbladder polyps (GPs). The aim of the study is to develop a Bayesian network (BN) prediction model to identify neoplastic polyps and create more precise criteria for surgical indications in patients with GPs lager than 10 mm based on preoperative ultrasound features.
Methods: A BN prediction model was established and validated based on the independent risk variables using data from 759 patients with GPs who underwent cholecystectomy from January 2015 to August 2022 at 11 tertiary hospitals in China.

Objective: In order to verify the safety and effectiveness of tirofiban combined with statins in the perioperative period of intracranial aneurysms, this study adopts systematic review and meta-analysis, so as to comprehensively understand the situation of intracranial aneurysms in the perioperative period, and tirofiban combined with statins was finally determined as an effective treatment drug.
Methods: This study used systematic retrospective analysis and selected 80 patients with intracranial aneurysms treated in our hospital from June 2021 to June 2022 as the research objects. Through conventional drugs and tirofiban combined with statins used in this study, the intracranial levels, the probability of aneurysm rupture, and postoperative complications of the two groups were observed and recorded.

Background: It is important to identify gallbladder polyps (GPs) with malignant potential and avoid unnecessary cholecystectomy by constructing prediction model. The aim of the study is to develop a Bayesian network (BN) prediction model for GPs with malignant potential in a long diameter of 8-15 mm based on preoperative ultrasound.
Methods: The independent risk factors for GPs with malignant potential were screened by χ test and Logistic regression model.

Background: The effectiveness and side effects of dexmedetomidine (DEX) in combination with midazolam and propofol have not been comparatively studied in a single clinical trial as sedative agents to general anesthesia before.
Objective: The objective of this study is to compare intra and post-operative sedation between DEX-Midazolam and DEX-Propofol in patients who underwent major abdominal surgery on the duration of general anesthesia, hemodynamic and sedation effect.
Method: This prospective, randomized, double-blinded clinical trial included 50 patients who were 20 to 60 years of age and admitted for major abdominal surgery.

Protein tyrosine kinase 7 (PTK7) expression has been reported to be dysregulated and to regulate various cellular activities in numerous types of cancer. However, to the best of our knowledge, the status and role of PTK7 in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) remains largely unknown. The present study aimed to investigate the involvement of PTK7 in OSCC progression and to determine the potential underlying mechanisms of action.

Background: Surgical indications for the treatment of gallbladder polyps are controversial. Evaluation of gallbladder polyps with malignant tendency and indications for cholecystectomy in patients with long diameter polyps of 10 to 15 mm require further analysis and discussion. In this study, our objective was to re-evaluate indications for the surgical resection of gallbladder polyps and construct a nomogram model for the prediction of gallbladder polyps with malignant tendency.

Background: In this study, we evaluated the effect of rs6265 polymorphism on the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and relevant downstream targets, as well as the involvement of this polymorphism in bladder cancer.
Method: A computational analysis and luciferase assays were used to explore the interaction among BDNF, miR-205, and cyclin J (CCNJ). Real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blot analysis were carried out to determine the effect of rs6265 polymorphism on the expression of BDNF and relevant downstream genes.

Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) have been shown to contribute to tumor progression, mainly through immune suppression. Inverse correlations have been observed between MDSC levels and patient survival for various malignancies. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the prognostic value of pretreatment circulating MDSCs.

Treatment of cancers with programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) pathway inhibitors can lead to immune-related adverse events (irAEs), which could be serious and even fetal. Therefore, clinicians should be aware of the characteristics of irAEs associated with the use of such drugs. The MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Cochrane databases were searched to find potential studies using the following strategies: anti-PD-1/PD-L1 treatment; irAEs; and cancer.
