KCNA5 gene polymorphism associate with idiopathic atrial fibrillation.

Objective: To investigate the correlation between KCNA5 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and idiopathic atrial fibrillation (IAF).

Methods: A case-control study was conducted, including 282 cases of IAF patients and 300 cases of age and sex-matched normal controls; gene sequencing method was used to detect the distribution of KCNA5 SNP (rs3741930 and rs1056468) in the two groups. The IAF patients were divided into two groups based on the different genotypes of rs1056468 and rs3741930; differences in clinical parameters between the two groups of patients were compared.

Oxidative stress and inflammation are the important pathological basis of atherogenesis. So, attenuating oxidative stress and inflammation has a very important significance in the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis. The aim of present study was to investigate whether anti-atherosclerotic effect of Tongxinluo (TXL), a compound traditional Chinese medicine, is related to its anti-oxidation and anti-inflammation in human cardiac microvascular endothelial cells (HCMEC).

Long-term prognosis and related factors towards patients with acute pulmonary thromboembolism.

This study aims to investigate the long-term prognosis and the affecting factors towards the patients with acute pulmonary thromboembolism (APTE). The clinical data of 903 PTE patients, diagnosed by the spiral CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA) or lung ventilation perfusion scanning when hospitalized in the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University from January 1998 to December 2013, were collected, among who 548 patients were performed the long-term follow-up, and the factors that would affect the prognosis were statistically analyzed. The univariate analysis showed that many factors would affect the prognosis of PTE.

SHIP2 on pI3K/Akt pathway in palmitic acid stimulated islet β cell.

This study is to investigate the influence of SHIP2 on palmitic acid stimulated islet β cell and insulin secretion, as well as its role in pI3K/Akt pathway. We defined four groups: control, acid group, acid + NC siRNA group and acid + siRNA transfection group. The control was neither treated by palmitic acid nor transfection.

Background: Tuberculous meningitis is the most lethal form of tuberculosis, but current diagnostic methods are inadequate. The measurement of cerebrospinal fluid parameters can provide early information for diagnosis. The present study focus on the validity of the cut-off value of cerebrospinal fluid parameters according to the Lancet consensus of scoring system for diagnosis of tuberculous meningitis.
