Background: Recent studies indicated that some glycolytic enzymes are complicated, multifaceted proteins rather than simple components of the glycolytic pathway. FBP1 plays a vital role in glucose metabolism, but its role in gastric cancer tumorigenesis and metastasis has not been fully understood.
Methods: The prognostic value of FBP1 was first studied in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database and validated in in-house database.

is used as a folk medicine in China for the treatment of numerous diseases. The ethyl acetate extract of (COE) also displays a wide range of anti-cancer activities in the laboratory. However, the effectiveness of COE-induced autophagy and its mechanism of action in colorectal cancer cells have not been investigated thus far.

Marital status correlates with health. Our goal was to examine the impact of marital status on the survival outcomes of patients with colorectal neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs). The Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results program was used to identify 1,289 eligible patients diagnosed between 2004 and 2010 with colorectal NENs.

Objective: To explore the indications and efficacy of augmentative locking compression plate (LCP) or less invasive stabilization system (LISS)with autogenous bone grafting (BG) in treating distal femoral nonunion subsequent to failed retrograde intramedullary nailing (RIN).
Methods: A retrospective study was performed for 21 patients with distal femoral nonunion subsequent to failed RIN, who received therapy with either augmentative LCP (n = 11) or LISS with autogenous BG (n = 13). Operation time, time to union, union rate, time to renonunion, complication rate and SF-36 scores a year after hardware removal were compared between the two groups.

Forkhead box (FOX) transcription factor family plays an important role in cancer growth and metastasis. This study aimed to determine the predictive ability of FOX genes in gastric carcinoma. A total of 360 patients with gastric from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) cohorts were collected in this study.

Accumulation of data indicates that misregulated long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are implicated in cancer tumorigenesis and progression and might be served as diagnosis and prognosis biomarker or potential therapeutic targets. Identification of cancer-associated lncRNAs and investigation of their biological functions and molecular mechanisms are significant for understanding the development and progression of cancer. In this study, we identified a novel lncRNA SNHG15, whose expression was upregulated in tumor tissues in 106 patients with gastric cancer (GC) compared with those in the adjacent normal tissues (P < 0.

Emerging evidences indicate that dysregulated long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are implicated in cancer tumorigenesis and progression and might be used as diagnosis and prognosis biomarker or potential therapeutic targets. Therefore, identification of cancer-associated lncRNAs and investigation of their biological functions and molecular mechanisms are important for understanding the development and progression of cancer. In this study, we identified a novel lncRNA LINC00982, whose expression was downregulated in tumor tissues in 106 patients with gastric cancer (GC) compared with those in the adjacent normal tissues (P < 0.

Background: The prognostic significance of age in colorectal cancer remains controversial. Our purpose was to determine the impact of age at diagnosis on cause- specific survival and overall survival in patients with colorectal cancer.
Methods: Using Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) population-based data, we identified 226,430 patients with colorectal cancer diagnosed between 1996 and 2005.
DNA methylation plays a critical role during the development of acquired chemoresistance. The aim of this study was to identify candidate DNA methylation drivers of cisplatin (DDP) resistance in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The A549/DDP cell line was established by continuous exposure of A549 cells to increasing concentrations of DDP.

Epigenetic mechanisms play a key role in non-targeted effects of radiation. The purpose of this study was to investigate global hypomethylation and promoter hypermethylation of particular genes induced by low dose radiation (LDR). Thirty male BALB/c mice were divided into 3 groups: control, acutely exposed (0.

Aim: To compare synchronous laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) combined with endoscopic sphincterotomy (EST) and sequential LC combined with EST for treating cholecystocholedocholithiasis.
Methods: A total of 150 patients were included and retrospectively studied. Among these, 70 were selected for the synchronous operation, in which the scheme was endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography combined with EST during LC.

Background: The integrin α6 subunit is part of the integrin α6β1 and α6β4 complexes, which are known to mediate the invasion of carcinoma cells. However, the precise role of integrin α6 in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) has not yet been addressed.
Methods: Twenty cases of ICCs and matched nontumor samples were used to analyze integrin α6 expression by immunohistochemistry.

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) have been associated with clinical outcome in various malignancies. The aim of this study was to examine CTC status in the peripheral blood of patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) before and after radiotherapy, and to evaluate its clinical significance. A total of 72 ESCC patients treated with radical radiotherapy were enrolled in this study.

The aim of this study was to identify potential epigenetic prognostic biomarkers for colorectal cancer (CRC) in the Chinese population. The methylation status of five tumor suppressor genes (CDH13, DLEC1, FBLN3, hMHL1 and RUNX3) was determined using manual microdissection followed by methylation-specific PCR in 85 paired CRC specimens and adjacent normal tissue. The results showed that methylation frequencies in cancerous tissues were 31.

Fibulin-3 gene has been identified as an antagonist of angiogenesis. We investigated the protein expression and promoter methylation status of fibulin-3 gene in colorectal cancer (CRC) and analyzed its correlation with clinicopathological factors. The study population enrolled 85 paired CRC specimens and adjacent normal tissues, as well as 32 cases of colorectal adenoma.
