Background: Metabolic syndrome (MS) is a significant risk factor for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, primarily driven by insulin resistance (IR). Although the herbal compound Chaihu Shugan powder (CSP) has demonstrated the potential to improve IR in animal models of MS, its mechanism of action remains incompletely understood. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the biological pathways through which CSP exerts its therapeutic effects on IR in MS using both and methods.

Efficacy and safety of guanxinshutong capsule combined with western medicine on stable angina pectoris: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of the Guanxinshutong capsule (GXST) combined with Western medicine (WM) in treating stable angina pectoris (SAP). Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating the efficacy of GXST combined with WM for the treatment of patients with SAP were searched across several databases, including the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Embase, the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), the Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP), and Wan Fang, from inception until 30 April 2024. Two independent reviewers rigorously performed study selection, data extraction, and quality assessment.

Inflammation is a key determinant in cardiac remodeling, with potential prognostic improvements by inhibiting inflammatory factors. Pattern recognition receptors, including interferon gamma-inducible protein-16 (IFI-16), play significant roles in this process, yet its specific involvement remains underexplored.

Effect of electroacupuncture of "Zusanli" (ST36) combined with capeOX on apoptosis and ferroptosis in nude mice with colorectal cancer.

Objectives: To investigate the impact of combined treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC) with electroacupuncture (EA) and capeOX (combined administration of fluorouracil, oxaliplatin and capecitabine) on the tumor volume, weight, spleen coefficient, apoptosis and ferroptosis of tumor tissue, and liver and kidney functions in nude mice with CRC, so as to explore its mechanisms underlying inhibiting CRC and alleviating toxic reactions of capeOX.

Methods: Female Balb/c nude mice were randomly assigned to 3 groups：model, capeOX, and EA+capeOX, with 8 nude mice in each group. The CRC model was established by subcutaneous injection of colon cancer cells at the right inguinal region.

Case report of scrub typhus complicated by hypokalemia and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome.

Context: Scrub typhus, caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi, has a wide range of clinical manifestations, including meningoencephalitis, acute renal failure, pneumonitis, myocarditis, and septic shock. However, there are no documented cases of scrub typhus with hypokalemia. In this report, we present a case of scrub typhus with hypokalemia and multiple organ failure syndrome, highlighting the importance of electrolyte imbalance in patients with scrub typhus.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation often obtain de novo resistance or develop secondary resistance to EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs), which restricts the clinical benefit for the patients. The activation of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT signal pathway is one of the most important mechanisms for the EGFR-TKIs resistance beyond T790M mutation. There are currently no drugs simultaneously targeting EGFR and PI3K signal pathways, and combination of these two pathway inhibitors may be a possible strategy to reverse theses resistances.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical therapeutic efficacy of anti-snake venom serum blockade in treating local tissue necrosis caused by Chinese cobra (Naja atra) bites.

Methods: Patients bitten by a Chinese cobra (Naja atra) (n = 50) that met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups: the experimental group (n = 25) and the control group (n = 25). The experimental group received regular as well as anti-snake venom serum blocking treatment, whereas regular treatment plus chymotrypsin blocking therapy was given to the control group.

Purpose: To evaluate whether traditional mind-body movement therapy (TMBM) can be used as a complementary or alternative therapy for exercise-based cardiopulmonary rehabilitation (EBCR) on chronic cardiopulmonary dyspnoea.

Methods: PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science and China National Knowledge Infrastructure were searched from their inception to 2 July 2021. Randomised clinical trials evaluating the effectiveness of TMBM versus EBCR, and TMBM +EBCR versus TMBM in the treatment of chronic cardiopulmonary dyspnoea were selected.
