SCLC transformation is a phenomenon that is rarely described in ALK-rearranged cancers after treatment with ALK tyrosine kinase inhibitors, and it is exceedingly rare after lorlatinib use. We report the first case of a patient with an ALK-EML4 rearrangement who was resistant to lorlatinib simply due to transformation to SCLC and rapidly achieved partial response after traditional etoposide combined with cisplatin therapy. In addition, we provide a fishplot that visualizes tumor evolution on the basis of next-generation sequencing, which may predict small cell transformation and facilitate early treatment.

Caloric restriction mimetics (CRMs) mimic the favourable effects of caloric restriction (CR) and have been shown to have therapeutic effects in neuroinflammatory disease. However, whether CRMs improve the functional recovery from spinal cord injury (SCI) and the underlying mechanism of action remain unclear. In this study, we used the CRMs 3,4-dimethoxychalcone (3,4-DC) to evaluate the therapeutic value of CRMs for SCI.

Glycogen storage disease type Ia (GSD-Ia) is caused by a deficiency in the glucose-6-phosphatase (G6Pase, G6pc) enzyme, which catalyses the final step of gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis. Accumulation of G6pc can lead to an increase in glycogen and development of fatty liver. Ductular reactions refer to the proliferation of cholangiocytes and hepatic progenitors, which worsen fatty liver progress.

Electronic address:

Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) and spinal cord injury (SCI) are capable of causing severe sensory, motor and autonomic nervous system dysfunctions. However, effective treatments for TBI and SCI are still unavailable, mainly because the death of nerve cells is uncontrollable. Necroptosis is a type of programmed cell death and a critical mechanism in the process of neuronal cell death.

Central nervous system (CNS) trauma, including traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury, has a high rate of disability and mortality, and effective treatment is currently lacking. Previous studies have revealed that neural inflammation plays a vital role in CNS trauma. As the initial enzyme in neuroinflammation, cytosolic phospholipase A (cPLA2) can hydrolyze membranous phosphatides at the sn-2 position in a preferential way to release lysophospholipids and ω3-polyunsaturated fatty acid dominated by arachidonic acid, thereby inducing secondary injuries.

Cadmium (Cd) exposure during pregnancy damages the placental glucocorticoid (GC) barrier, exposes the foetus to excess corticosterone (CORT) levels, and eventually inhibits foetal development. In addition, taurine (Tau) alleviates the toxicity of Cd on liver and kidney, but limited data are available on the role of Tau against the toxicity of heavy metals on female reproduction and fetal development. The present study was conducted to investigate the specific mechanism of Cd-induced placental GC barrier damage and the protective role of Tau.

Random-pattern skin flap is a vital technique frequently applied in reconstruction surgeries for its convenience and effectiveness in solving skin defects. However, ischemic necrosis, especially in the distal areas of the flap, still needs extra attention after surgery. Earlier evidence has suggested that paeoniflorin (PF) could stimulate angiogenesis and suppress ischemic cardiovascular disease.

Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, The First Affiliated Hospital, College of Medicine, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China.

In addition to being suitable for the assessment of residual urine volume, the use of a portable bladder scanner can also assist medical staff in developing a reasonable urination plan. Portable scanners can help medical personnel to estimate the height and/or relaxation of the bladder neck for pelvic floor muscle training, assist in the efficacy evaluation of muscarinic antagonists in patients with neurogenic detrusor overactivity, and even determine whether the urine in the bladder of pediatric patients meets the criteria for catheterization to obtain urine samples. However, in the case described herein, we encountered abnormal deviation between the data measured by a portal bladder scanner and actual catheterization.
