The SLC7A11/GPX4 axis plays an important role in ferroptosis during cardiac ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI). The present study was designed to evaluate the impact of dexmedetomidine (DEX) post-conditioning on cardiac IRI and to explore whether the effect was achieved by SLC7A11/GPX4 signaling pathway regulation. Rat myocardial IRI was established by occluding the left anterior descending artery for 30 min followed by 2-h reperfusion.

Emerging evidence has suggested the unique and critical role of exosomes as signal molecules vector in various diseases. Numerous researchers have been trying to identify how these exosomes function in immune progression, as this could promote their use as biomarkers for the disease process and potential promising diagnostic tools. NOD-like receptor (NLR) family, pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3), a tripartite protein, contains three functional domains a central nucleotide-binding and oligomerization domain (NACHT), an N-terminal pyrin domain (PYD), and a leucine-rich repeat domain (LRR).

Chromobox protein homolog 7 (CBX7) is a member of the Chromobox protein family and participates in the formation of the polycomb repressive complex 1(PRC1). In cells, CBX7 often acts as an epigenetic regulator to regulate gene expression. However, pathologically, abnormal expression of CBX7 can lead to an imbalance of gene expression, which is closely related to the occurrence and progression of cancers.

Cardiac fibrosis is a hallmark of cardiac remodeling associated with nearly all forms of heart disease. Clinically, no effective therapeutic drugs aim to inhibit cardiac fibrosis, owing to the complex etiological heterogeneity and pathogenesis of this disease. A two-in-one protein structure, a ubiquitous expression profile and unique biophysical characteristics enable the involvement of transient receptor potential melastatin-subfamily member 7 (TRPM7) in the pathogenesis and development of fibrosis-related cardiac diseases, such as heart failure (HF), cardiomyopathies, arrhythmia and hyperaldosteronism.

Diabetic hearts are vulnerable to myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI), but are insensitive to sevoflurane postconditioning (SPC), activating peroxiredoxins that confer cardioprotection. Previous studies have demonstrated that hydrogen sulfide (H S) can suppress oxidative stress of diabetic rats through increasing the expression of silent information regulator factor 2-related enzyme 1 (SIRT1), but whether cardioprotection by SPC can be restored afterward remains unclear. Diabetic rat was subjected to IRI (30 min of ischemia followed by 120 min reperfusion).

Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors are a novel class of oral antihyperglycemic agents developed in recent years. They could block most glucose reabsorption in renal proximal tubules, thereby exerting glucose lowering effects through glycosuric ways. The renal and cardiovascular protection effects of SGLT2 inhibitors have also been demonstrated both in preclinical studies and clinical trials.

Monoclonal gammopathy of renal significance (MGRS) is characterized by the nephrotoxic monoclonal immunoglobulin secreted by an otherwise asymptomatic or indolent B cell or plasma cell clone, without hematologic criteria for treatment. These MGRS-associated diseases can involve one or more renal compartments, including glomeruli, tubules, and vessels. Hydrophobic residue replacement, N-glycosylated, increase in isoelectric point in monoclonal immunoglobulin (MIg) causes it to transform from soluble form to tissue deposition, and consequently resulting in glomerular damage.
