Subject-driven titration of biphasic insulin aspart 30 twice daily is non-inferior to investigator-driven titration in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled with premixed human insulin: A randomized, open-label, parallel-group, multicenter trial.

Aims/introduction: The present study was to compare the efficacy and safety of subject-driven and investigator-driven titration of biphasic insulin aspart 30 (BIAsp 30) twice daily (BID).

Materials And Methods: In this 20-week, randomized, open-label, two-group parallel, multicenter trial, Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled by premixed/self-mixed human insulin were randomized 1:1 to subject-driven or investigator-driven titration of BIAsp 30 BID, in combination with metformin and/or α-glucosidase inhibitors. Dose adjustment was decided by patients in the subject-driven group after training, and by investigators in the investigator-driven group.

[Clinical Analysis of 4 AML Patients Aged Over 80 Years Treated with Chemotherapy Combined with Haploidentical Hematopoietic Stem Cell Infusion].

Objective: To investigate the efficacy and safety of MA (mitoxantrone and cytarabine) regimen chemotherapy combined with granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF)-mobilized family related HLA-haploidentical donor peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell (G-PBHSC) infusion for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients aged over 80 years.

Methods: Four elderly patients with AML were treated in Chinese Second Artillery General Hospital from August 2008 to September 2013. The proportion of male to female was 1 : 3 and the median age 83 (80-85) years.

[Laparoscopic fundoplication for gastroesophageal reflux disease-related cough: a report of 70 cases].

Objective: To investigate the efficacy and safety of laparoscopic fundoplication for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)-related cough.

Methods: Retrospective review of 70 patients with GERD-related cough who received laparoscopic fundoplication in GERD Department of The Second Artillery General Hospital during June 2008 to June 2013 was carried out. GERD-related symptoms (reflux, heartburn, cough, expectoration, globus sensation and hoarseness) before and after surgery were compared through questionnaire, and the symptom remission rate (preoperative symptom score - postoperative symptom score)/preoperative symptom score×100%) was calculated.

An efficient strategy for establishing a model of sensorineural deafness in rats.

Ototoxic drugs can be used to produce a loss of cochlear hair cells to create animal models of deafness. However, to the best of our knowledge, there is no report on the establishment of a rat deafness model through the combined application of aminoglycosides and loop diuretics. The aim of this study was to use single or combined administration of furosemide and kanamycin sulfate to establish rat models of deafness.

Background: Cultivation of osteoclasts is a basic tool for investigating osteolytic bone diseases. Fetal bovine serum (FBS) is the standard supplement used for in vitro cell culture medium. Typically, the serum volume fraction used for osteoclast cultivation is 10%.

The aim of the present study was to compare the osteoclast-inhibiting ability of recombinant osteoprotegerin (OPG) protein (rhOPG-Fc) and recombinant receptor activator of nuclear factor κB (rhRANK) in vitro and in vivo. Osteoclasts were cultured with either rhOPG-Fc or rhRANK for 9 days. The number of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP)-positive multinucleated cells and resorption pits in bone slices were then counted.

PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure database were searched to identify eligible studies.
