Radiation therapy is indispensable in medical practice but often causes adverse effects on healthy tissues, necessitating the search for natural radioprotectors. This study investigates the protective effect of Biochanin A (BCA) against gamma radiation-induced oxidative stress and DNA damage in Swiss albino mice. Gamma radiation, a potent ionizing source, generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) that damage cellular biomolecules, including DNA.

Following the publication of the above paper, it was drawn to the Editor's attention by a concerned reader that the immunohistochemical images shown in Fig. 7E were strikingly similar to data that had already been published in different form in a previous article in the journal PLoS One written by different authors at different research institutes. Owing to the fact that the abovementioned data had already apparently been published previously, the Editor of has decided that this paper should be retracted from the Journal.

Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), a prevalent form of cardiomyopathy, is characterized by ventricular dilation and systolic dysfunction. Its etiology is intricate, encompassing multiple genetic and environmental elements. The LMOD2 (Leiomodin 2) gene has been demonstrated to be closely associated with the pathogenesis of DCM.

Treatment for Parkinson's disease (PD) has been impeded by inefficient treatment results and multiple membrane barriers during drug delivery. This study reports the design, synthesis, and application of microneedles (MNs) loaded with mitochondrion-targeted liposome encapsulated iron (Fe)-isolated single-atom nanozymes (Mito@Fe-ISAzyme, MFeI), called MFeI MNs, for in situ drug delivery into the brain parenchyma and efficient enrichment of drugs in lesion sites. In in vitro experiments, MFeI can scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS) and protect the neurons via mitochondrial targeting, guaranteeing the subsequent treatment of PD.

N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is the most prevalent modification found in eukaryotic RNA and played a significant role in various cancers. However, the mechanism by which m6A modification influences cervical cancer (CC) tumorigenesis remains unclear. Therefore, we aim to elucidate the role and mechanism of METTL3 in CC progression.

Background: The histone-lysine N-methyltransferase SMYD1, which is specific to striated muscle, plays a crucial role in regulating early heart development. Its deficiency has been linked to the occurrence of congenital heart disease. Nevertheless, the precise mechanism by which SMYD1 deficiency contributes to congenital heart disease remains unclear.

Furin cleavage site (FCS) of the SARS-CoV-2 S protein, which connects the S1/S2 junction, is essential for facilitating fusion with the host cells. Wild-type (Wt) SARS-CoV-2 S protein, PDB ID: 6yvb, lacks a sequence of amino acid residues, including the FCS that links the S1/S2 junction. For the first time, we demonstrated that a stretch of 14 amino acid residues (677QTNSPRRARSVASQ689) forms an antiparallel β-sheet comprising of PRRAR sequence in the FCS within a short loop.

Aims: To explore the mediating role of relationship satisfaction between communication patterns and benefit findings in stroke couples using the actor-partner interdependence mediation model.
Methods And Results: A cross-sectional study was conducted from October 2022 to April 2023 in China. Based on the actor-partner interdependence mediation model, we used structural equation modeling to explore the mediating role of relationship satisfaction of stroke patients and their spouses in communication patterns and benefit findings.

Objectives: Helping residents select nutrient-dense foods is a strategy to improve their diet quality. However, communication based on the nutrient-dense foods as a positive attribute has not been widely used in nutritional education. This study aimed to develop an educational tool based on the picture and guidance of "Chinese food guide pagoda (2022) ", extend it with the concept of nutrient density, and investigate its acceptance by Chinese residents from Henan province.

Background: The growing body of research on kidney disease in children has identified a broad spectrum of genetic etiologies.
Methods: We conducted a prospective study to evaluate the efficacy of an optimized genetic test and subclinical changes in a real-world context before kidney transplantation. All cases involved recipients under the age of 18 who underwent whole exome sequencing (ES) between 2013 and 2022.

Background: To investigate the association between serum branched chain amino acids (BCAAs), mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) levels and the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in pregnant women.
Methods: 1:1 matched case-control study was conducted including 66 GDM patients and 66 matched healthy pregnant women (± 3 years) in 2019, in China. Fasting bloods of pregnant women were collected in pregnancy at 24 ~ 28 weeks gestation.

Background: APOBEC-1 complementation factor (A1CF) and Apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme, catalytic polypeptide-1 (APOBEC-1) constitute the minimal proteins necessary for the editing of apolipoprotein B (apoB) mRNA in vitro. Unlike APOBEC-1 and apoB mRNA, the ubiquitous expression of A1CF in human tissues suggests its unique biological significance, with various factors such as protein kinase C, thyroid hormones, and insulin regulating the activity and expression of A1CF. Nevertheless, few studies have provided an overview of this topic.

The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the efficiency and safety of total body irradiation plus cyclophosphamide (TBI/Cy) followed by autogenetic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (auto-HSCT) in T-LBL/ALL patients that cannot receive allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant (allo-HSCT). Between 2013 and 2023, 24 patients received auto-HSCT following by TBI/Cy, 26 patients underwent allo-HSCT, all patients achieved completed hematopoietic reconstitution after HSCT. The progression free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) had no statistically significant differences between the two groups (P = 0.

Pathological cardiac hypertrophy is the primary cause of heart failure, yet its underlying mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Transmembrane protein 100 (TMEM100) plays a role in various disorders, such as nervous system disease, pain and tumorigenesis, but its function in pathological cardiac hypertrophy is still unknown. In this study, we observed that TMEM100 is upregulated in cardiac hypertrophy.
