Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been used successfully to treat rheumatoid arthritis (RA). QingreHuoxue treatment (QingreHuoxue decoction [QRHXD]/QingreHuoxue external preparation [QRHXEP]) is a Chinese medicine treatment for RA. To date, very few studies have compared the long-term effects of QRHXD with those of conventional disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs on RA disease activity and radiological progression.

One of the rare malignant tumors developing within the glands of the buccal cavity in human beings is salivary gland tumors (SGTs). The hallmark of SGTs is the fusion of nuclear factor IB (NFIB) and myeloblastosis (MYB) genes developed after the translocation of q22-23; p23-24. Although the aetiology of SGTs is not clear, however, the therapeutic modalities are surgical resection followed by the combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy if a chance of recurrence seems to develop.

The prostate volume is not enlarged in some patients with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Evidence shows that prostate fibrosis, in addition to BPH and smooth muscle dysfunction, is one of the causes of LUTS, and that its occurrence is related to inflammation of various causes, ischemia, hypoxia and drugs, with the differentiation, aggregation and activation of myofibroblasts involved in its pathogenesis. Therefore, anti-inflammation and anti-fibrosis strategies may be considered as potential targets for the treatment of LUTS.

Sonic hedgehog (Shh) is an important regulator of penile erectile function in adult males, and abnormal Shh signals may be involved in the mechanisms of ED. Current studies on the relationship of the Shh signaling pathway with ED are mainly concentrated on neurogenic ED caused by bilateral cavernous nerve injury, diabetes-induced endocrinological ED, and senile ED. This review focuses on the changes of the Shh signaling pathway in different types of ED and clarifies the mechanisms of the Shh signaling pathway regulating ED, hoping to give some inspiration to further related studies.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of "Tongdu Tiaoshen" needling in improving cognitive function for patients with sepsis associated encephalopathy (SAE).
  • A total of 64 patients were divided into a control group receiving standard treatment and a treatment group receiving the "Tongdu Tiaoshen" needling combined with standard treatment, assessed over 10 days using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) scale and other inflammatory markers.
  • Results showed a significant improvement in cognitive scores for the treatment group compared to the control group, with lower levels of inflammatory markers after treatment, indicating that "Tongdu Tiaoshen" may help reduce inflammation and enhance cognitive function in SAE patients.
