Background: Remimazolam is a benzodiazepine sedative that is indicated for induction and maintenance during general anaesthesia. Remimazolam is also used for sedation in outpatient surgery; however, most reports have focused on nonelderly patients, whereas only a few studies have reported the use of remimazolam for elderly patients when receiving regional nerve block anaesthesia.

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different doses of remimazolam in elderly patients when specifically related to regional nerve block anaesthesia.

Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer characterized by high therapy resistance, has undergone extensive investigation through the utilization of BRAF-driven melanoma animal models. However, there exists a paucity of animal models for the rare hereditary melanoma resulting from germline mutations. Here, employing CRISPR/Cas9 technology, we generated on a knockout background to model human germline mutation-induced hereditary melanoma.

Objective: To analyze the relationship between fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) and ultrasound breast imaging reporting and data system (BI-RADS) classification, and to evaluate the diagnostic value of their combined application in breast diseases.

Subjects And Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the F-FDG PET/CT images and ultrasound BI-RADS classification data of 110 patients with suspected breast cancer treated at our hospital from July 2020 to May 2022. Pearson correlation analysis was used to assess the relationship between the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and BI-RADS classification.

Ubiquitination is a prevalent post-translational modification that plays a crucial role in a wide range of pathophysiological processes, including cell proliferation, apoptosis, autophagy, immune response, and DNA damage repair. Among the enzymes involved in ubiquitination, E3 ubiquitin ligases are particularly significant, serving as key regulators of numerous diseases, including tumours. This review focuses on HECW2 (HECT, C2, and WW domain-containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 2, also known as NEDL2), providing a comprehensive overview of its interactors and its pathological roles in tumorous cancer and other diseases.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) is the most common malignant tumor in women worldwide, and further elucidation of the molecular mechanisms involved in BC pathogenesis is essential to improve the prognosis of BC patients. RNA Binding Motif Protein 8 A (RBM8A), with high affinity to a myriad of RNA transcripts, has been shown to play a crucial role in genesis and progression of multiple cancers. We attempted to explore its functional significance and molecular mechanisms in BC.

Ischemic stroke is one main type of cerebrovascular disorders with leading cause of death and disability worldwide. Astrocytes are the only nerve cell type storing glycogen in the brain, which regulate the glucose metabolism and handle the energy supply and survive of neurons. Astrocyte ferroptosis contributes to neuron injury in brain disorders.

Background: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play crucial roles in cellular processes, with dysregulation implicated in various diseases, including cancers. The lncRNA TPT1-AS1 (TPT1 Antisense RNA 1) promotes tumor progression in several cancers, including ovarian cancer (OC), but its influence on ferroptosis and interaction with other proteins remains underexplored.

Methods: In this study, we employed a multi-faceted approach to investigate the functional significance of TPT1-AS1 in OC.

Chemotherapy as a cornerstone of cancer treatment is slowly being edged aside owing to its severe side effects and systemic toxicity. In this case, nanomedicine has emerged as an effective tool to address these drawbacks. Herein, a biocompatible carrier based on bovine serum albumin (BSA) coated gadolinium oxide nanoparticles (GdO@BSA) was fabricated for curcumin (CUR) delivery and its physicochemical features along with its potential anticancer activity against nasal squamous cell carcinoma were also investigated.
