Water-soluble vitamins play essential roles in normal body functions and metabolic activities. However, few methods have simultaneously measured all nine water-soluble vitamins in biological matrices. In this study, we developed a sensitive and accurate method for the simultaneous measurement of thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), nicotinamide (B3), pantothenic acid (B5), 4-pyridoxic acid (B6), biotin (B7), 5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid (B9), ascorbic acid (VC), and methylmalonic acid (MMA) in human serum.

Fetal growth restriction (FGR) is characterized by the inability of the fetus to achieve its growth potential due to pathological factors, most commonly impaired placental trophoblast cell function. Currently, effective prevention and treatment methods of FGR are limited. We aimed to explore the pathogenesis of FGR and provide potential strategies for mitigating its occurrence.

Background: Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a prevalent, fatal degenerative muscle disease with no effective treatments. Mdx mouse model of DMD exhibits impaired muscle performance, oxidative stress, and dysfunctional autophagy. Although antioxidant treatments may improve the mdx phenotype, the precise molecular mechanisms remain unclear.

The rapidly aging population is fueling a surge in diabetes, especially Type 2, which heightens colorectal cancer (CRC) risk. Colorectal adenoma, a precursor, compounds this trend. Although alpha-glucosidase inhibitors are effective hypoglycemic drugs working in the GI tract, the link between them and colorectal adenoma formation remains unexplored.

Introduction: Frailty is an emerging global health burden, and there is no consensus on the precise prediction of frailty. We aimed to explore the association between grip strength and frailty and interpret the optimal machine learning (ML) model using the SHapley Additive exPlanation (SHAP) to predict the risk of frailty.
Methods: Data for the study were extracted from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) database.

Purpose: Propofol, a widely utilized anesthetic, is employed to alleviate pain and anxiety in outpatient oocyte retrieval procedures. However, its potential impact and safety profile in the context of fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET) remain unclear.
Methods: This retrospective study enrolled 1187 patients undergoing IVF-ET, and divided into two groups depending on whether they received propofol (propofol group, n=140) or not (control group, n=1047) for anesthesia during oocyte retrieval.

Introduction: Peripheral monocytes have been reported to correlate with clinical outcomes in various types of malignancies. Previous reports have also shown that acute-phase thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) plasma could induce the activation of monocytes. However, the significance of peripheral blood absolute monocyte count (AMC) in idiopathic TTP remains an unanswered question.

Background: Partial stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) targeting hypoxic regions of large tumors (SBRT-PATHY) has been shown to enhance the efficacy of tumor radiotherapy by harnessing the radiation-induced immune response. This approach suggests that reducing the irradiation target volume not only achieves effective anti-tumor effects but also minimizes damage to surrounding normal tissues. In this study, we evaluated the antitumor efficacy of reduced-tumour-area radiotherapy (RTRT) , and explored the relationship between tumor control and immune preservation and the molecular mechanisms underlying of them.

Background: Lung adenocarcinoma patients are often found to have developed bone metastases at the time of initial diagnosis. With the continuous development of technology, we have successfully entered the era of immunotherapy. This study aimed to determine the efficacy of immunotherapy in lung adenocarcinoma patients with bone metastases (LABM) through a multicenter retrospective analysis and to develop a novel tool to identify the population that could benefit most from immunotherapy.

The abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a severe and complex condition characterized by the pathological dilation of the abdominal aorta. Current therapeutic strategies are limited, with surgical repair being the most effective intervention due to the lack of medications that can slow aneurysmal expansion or prevent adverse events. In this study, an innovative nanoplatform, Mn-UiO-66-NH@HA, designed to repair vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs), and the extracellular matrix (ECM) is developed, thereby enhancing arterial wall integrity.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent chronic disease, characterized by the destruction of joint cartilage and synovitis, affects over 7 % of people worldwide. Disease-modifying treatments for OA still face significant challenges. Chondrocytes, as the exclusive cellular component of articular cartilage, play a pivotal role in synthesizing the intricate matrix of cartilage, thereby assuming a critical responsibility in facilitating its renewal and repair processes.

Background: Accurate assessment of aortic root is crucial for the preprocedural planning of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). A variety software is emerging for the semiautomated or automated measurements during TAVR planning. This study evaluated a new deep-learning (DL) tool based on cardiac computed tomography angiography (CCTA) for fully automatic assessment of aortic root.

This research investigated the impact of cyclopiazonic acid (CPA), a mycotoxin, on the function of progenitor Leydig cells (PLCs) in prepubertal male rats, focusing on its potential disruption of mitochondrial integrity through mitofusin 1 (MFN1) modulation. In vivo, Sprague Dawley rats received CPA (0.2, 1, 5 mg/kg/day) via gavage from postnatal days 21-28 to evaluate PLC function and mitochondrial morphology using serum hormone levels, histology, qPCR, and Western blot analyses.

Dysregulation in placental trophoblast cells frequently results in oxidative stress, culminating in pregnancy-related complications. While iron is essential for fetal development, cellular ferroptosis due to elevated iron levels might mediate the emergence of preeclampsia (PE), presenting significant risks during gestation. We found abnormally activated oxidative stress and increased iron concentration in the placental tissues of PE patients.

This cohort study evaluated the associations of C-reactive protein-neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (C-NLR) and lymphocyte-CRP ratio (LCR) with refractory Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (RMPP), and the predictive values of C-NLR and LCR for RMPP and prolonged fever in children based on 389 children with MPP. The associations of NLR, C-NLR, and LCR with RMPP and prolonged fever were evaluated by logistic regression analysis. C-NLR was correlated with an increased risk of RMPP in children [odds ratio (OR) = 3.

Ovarian cancer is a prevalent malignancy among women, often associated with a poor prognosis. Post-translational modifications (PTMs), particularly O-GlcNAcylation, have been implicated in the progression of ovarian cancer. Emerging evidence indicates that dysregulation of O-GlcNAcylation contributes to the initiation and malignant progression of ovarian cancer.
