Water-soluble vitamins play essential roles in normal body functions and metabolic activities. However, few methods have simultaneously measured all nine water-soluble vitamins in biological matrices. In this study, we developed a sensitive and accurate method for the simultaneous measurement of thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), nicotinamide (B3), pantothenic acid (B5), 4-pyridoxic acid (B6), biotin (B7), 5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid (B9), ascorbic acid (VC), and methylmalonic acid (MMA) in human serum.

The rapidly aging population is fueling a surge in diabetes, especially Type 2, which heightens colorectal cancer (CRC) risk. Colorectal adenoma, a precursor, compounds this trend. Although alpha-glucosidase inhibitors are effective hypoglycemic drugs working in the GI tract, the link between them and colorectal adenoma formation remains unexplored.

Introduction: Frailty is an emerging global health burden, and there is no consensus on the precise prediction of frailty. We aimed to explore the association between grip strength and frailty and interpret the optimal machine learning (ML) model using the SHapley Additive exPlanation (SHAP) to predict the risk of frailty.

Methods: Data for the study were extracted from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) database.

Introduction: Peripheral monocytes have been reported to correlate with clinical outcomes in various types of malignancies. Previous reports have also shown that acute-phase thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) plasma could induce the activation of monocytes. However, the significance of peripheral blood absolute monocyte count (AMC) in idiopathic TTP remains an unanswered question.

Reduced irradiation exposure areas enhanced anti-tumor effect by inducing DNA damage and preserving lymphocytes.

Mol Med

State Key Laboratory of Nuclear Physics and Technology, School of Physics, Peking University, Beijing, 100871, China.

Background: Partial stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) targeting hypoxic regions of large tumors (SBRT-PATHY) has been shown to enhance the efficacy of tumor radiotherapy by harnessing the radiation-induced immune response. This approach suggests that reducing the irradiation target volume not only achieves effective anti-tumor effects but also minimizes damage to surrounding normal tissues. In this study, we evaluated the antitumor efficacy of reduced-tumour-area radiotherapy (RTRT) , and explored the relationship between tumor control and immune preservation and the molecular mechanisms underlying of them.

The abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a severe and complex condition characterized by the pathological dilation of the abdominal aorta. Current therapeutic strategies are limited, with surgical repair being the most effective intervention due to the lack of medications that can slow aneurysmal expansion or prevent adverse events. In this study, an innovative nanoplatform, Mn-UiO-66-NH@HA, designed to repair vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs), and the extracellular matrix (ECM) is developed, thereby enhancing arterial wall integrity.

Dysregulation in placental trophoblast cells frequently results in oxidative stress, culminating in pregnancy-related complications. While iron is essential for fetal development, cellular ferroptosis due to elevated iron levels might mediate the emergence of preeclampsia (PE), presenting significant risks during gestation. We found abnormally activated oxidative stress and increased iron concentration in the placental tissues of PE patients.

March 2025

Rehabilitation Medicine Center, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou, , PR China; School of Rehabilitation Medicine, Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou, PR China. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the causal link between caffeine in the blood and frailty in older adults, amidst previous observational claims that caffeine may reduce frailty risk.
  • Researchers used a Mendelian Randomization analysis with data from large cohorts (over 175,000 participants) to determine the effect of genetic variations related to caffeine on frailty measurements.
  • Results showed a significant negative association between higher plasma caffeine levels and measures of frailty, suggesting that increased caffeine could potentially help prevent frailty in aging populations.
