Background: the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is characterized by poor outcomes and mortality, particularly in older patients.
Methods: post hoc analysis of the international, multicentre, 'real-world' HOPE COVID-19 registry. All patients aged ≥65 years hospitalised for COVID-19 were selected.

Recurrence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) positive detection in infected but recovered individuals has been reported. Patients who have recovered from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) could profoundly impact the health care system. We sought to define the kinetics and relevance of PCR-positive recurrence during recovery from acute COVID-19 to better understand risks for prolonged infectivity and reinfection.

The diagnosed COVID-19 cases revealed that the incubation periods (IP) varied a lot among patients. However, few studies had emphasized on the different clinical features and prognosis of patients with different IP. A total of 330 patients with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 were enrolled and classified into immediate onset group(IP<3 days, I group, 57 cases) and late onset group(IP>10 days, L group, 75 cases) based on IP.

Preeclampsia is a pregnancy disorder, whereas the underlying mechanisms and etiological factors of this complication remain elusive. Studies have reported that decreased invasiveness of trophoblast cells, immunity disorder in the maternal-fetal interface, and oxidative stress may contribute to the development of preeclampsia. In the present study, we firstly co-cultured the smooth muscle cells (SMCs) and endothelial cells (ECs) to mimic the decidua and myometrium interface and examined the effects of osteopontin (OPN) on the invasive potential of trophoblasts in the SMC-EC co-culturing system.

Male urethral injury is a common urologic emergency in developing countries. Whether early or late treatment of urethral injuries is often multifactorial and controversial. The goal of this study is to determine whether early realignment can reduce postsurgical complications and evaluate the clinical feasibility of emergency endoscopic urethroplasty using single rigid ureteroscopy in the treatment of bulbar urethral severe injury.

Unlabelled: The disease produced by the new coronavirus known as SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2), named COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease-2019) has recently been classified as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). However, scarce clinical data is available and generally limited to the Chinese population due to the first cases were identified in Wuhan (Hubei, China). This article describes the rationale and design of the HOPE COVID-19 (Health Outcome Predictive Evaluation for COVID 19) registry (ClinicalTrials.

Background: Prompt identification of patients suspected to have COVID-19 is crucial for disease control. We aimed to develop a deep learning algorithm on the basis of chest CT for rapid triaging in fever clinics.
Methods: We trained a U-Net-based model on unenhanced chest CT scans obtained from 2447 patients admitted to Tongji Hospital (Wuhan, China) between Feb 1, 2020, and March 3, 2020 (1647 patients with RT-PCR-confirmed COVID-19 and 800 patients without COVID-19) to segment lung opacities and alert cases with COVID-19 imaging manifestations.

Purpose Of Review: Due to the stringent measures including quarantine of infected individuals and social distancing, the COVID-19 pandemic has posted great challenges for HIV-1 care in China. In this mini-review, I will discuss the situation in Shenzhen city as a window of China to reflect our strategies in fighting the concurrent HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 pandemics.
Recent Findings: Prevention of nosocomial infection, minimizing the follow-up visits to the hospital, maintaining the delivery of PreP/PEP services and testing for SARS-Cov-2 and HIV when someone have fever or respiratory symptoms were the four major approaches to maintain uninterrupted HIV care in Shenzhen.

Dysfunctional immune responses contribute critically to the progression of Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) from mild to severe stages including fatality, with pro-inflammatory macrophages as one of the main mediators of lung hyper-inflammation. Therefore, there is an urgent need to better understand the interactions among SARS-CoV-2 permissive cells, macrophage, and the SARS-CoV-2 virus, thereby offering important insights into new therapeutic strategies. Here, we used directed differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) to establish a lung and macrophage co-culture system and model the host-pathogen interaction and immune response caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection.

The outbreak of a large plaque, novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP), which also named Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) by the WHO, has detrimentally affected the livelihood and health of people in China. During the spread of COVID-19, colleagues who have been working at the frontline have had to face many new challenges in the treatment and prevention of NCP. Therefore, we have provided suggestions for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of the novel coronavirus pneumonia in the current epidemic situation based on the latest reports and the experience of doctors treating COVID-19 in our hospital.

Aim: With the current coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic and high endemic levels of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection worldwide, it is urgent to investigate liver function changes of COVID-19 patients with chronic HBV infection, and how severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection in turn affects the course of chronic HBV infection.
Method: We undertook a retrospective study based on 347 COVID-19 patients (21 vs. 326 with vs.

Methods: Hospitalized ACLF patients with chronic hepatitis B from five hepatology centers were retrospectively selected and grouped according to the WGO classification.

The pathologic diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) by different pathologists is often inefficient and inconsistent. We have therefore introduced a deep learning algorithm into this process and compared the performance of the model with that of three pathologists with different levels of experience to demonstrate its clinical value. In this retrospective study, a total of 1970 whole slide images of 731 cases were collected and divided into training, validation, and testing sets.

There is currently an outbreak of respiratory disease caused by a novel coronavirus. The virus has been named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and the disease it causes has been named coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). More than 16% of patients developed acute respiratory distress syndrome, and the fatality ratio was 1%-2%.

Background & Aims: Recent data on the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has begun to shine light on the impact of the disease on the liver. But no studies to date have systematically described liver test abnormalities in patients with COVID-19. We evaluated the clinical characteristics of COVID-19 in patients with abnormal liver test results.

Liver vessel density can be evaluated by an imaging biomarker diffusion-derived vessel density (DDVD): DDVD/area(b0b2) = Sb0/ROIarea0 - Sb2/ROIarea2, where Sb0 and Sb2 refer to the liver signal when is 0 or 2 (s/mm); ROIarea0 and ROIarea2 refer to the region of interest (ROI) on = 0 or 2 images; and Sb2 may be replaced by Sb15 ( = 15). This concept was validated in this study. Liver diffusion images were acquired at 1.
