Nerve fibers are important component in tumor microenvironment (TME) and have been shown to promote the early development of the prostate cancer and metastasis of advanced prostate cancer. Besides, it also activates an angio-metabolic switch, altering the endothelial cell metabolism to trigger angiogenesis. Most studies have showed that nerve infiltration in prostate cancer may be regulated by a variety of nerve growth factors secreted by cancer cells.

Background: Lymph node metastasis (LNM) is one of the most important factors affecting the prognosis of breast cancer. The accurate evaluation of lymph node status is useful to predict the outcomes of patients and guide the choice of cancer treatment. However, there is still lack of a low-cost non-invasive method to assess the status of axillary lymph node (ALN).

E3 ubiquitin ligases (E3s), the second most common cancer-related functional protein family, play vital roles in multiple tumors. However, their importance in prognosis and immunotherapy of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is not clear. First, utilizing the data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), we comprehensively assessed the expression profile and immunological association of 13 E3s in LUAD patients.

To assess the association of road traffic noise exposure with Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) risk, and to explore the potential moderation effect of obesity. A total of 305,969 participants from the UK Biobank Cohort - an open access cohort of 500,000 participants recruited in the United Kingdom (UK) between 2006 and 2010 - were included in the study. A Cox proportional hazard model was fitted to assess the association between road traffic noise exposure and T2D.

Purpose: The study aims to investigate the suppressing tumor-promoting effects via multi-anti-angiogenesis activity of the copper chelator (ammonium tetrathiomolybdate, TM) combined with lenvatinib for hepatocellular carcinoma.
Methods: A total of 55 C57 mice were injected subcutaneously with Hepa1-6 hepatoma cell suspensions into the right posterior thigh. After 7 days, the subcutaneous tumors were formed, and the mice were randomly divided into five groups: TM (G1), Lenvatinib (G2), TM+Lenvatinib (G3), Control (G4), and Copper (II) Gluconate (G5).

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer mortality globally. Large bowel obstruction (occurring in 15-30% of patients with CRCs) accounts for approximately 80% of medical emergencies related to CRC. Currently, there is no standard treatment of this condition.

Automatic tissue segmentation in whole-slide images (WSIs) is a critical task in hematoxylin and eosin- (H&E-) stained histopathological images for accurate diagnosis and risk stratification of lung cancer. Patch classification and stitching the classification results can fast conduct tissue segmentation of WSIs. However, due to the tumour heterogeneity, large intraclass variability and small interclass variability make the classification task challenging.

Nuclear receptors are a family of ligand-dependent transcription factors that are highly druggable therapeutic targets playing critical roles in human physiological and pathological development, including cancer. In this study, we explored the therapeutic potential as well as the molecular mechanisms of liver X receptor (LXR) agonist GW3965 in pancreatic cancer.

Background: Adenosine-to-inosine RNA editing (ATIRE) is characterized as non-mutational epigenetic reprogramming hallmark of cancer, while little is known about its predictive role in cancer survival.
Methods: To explore survival-related ATIRE events in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), ATIRE profile, gene expression data, and corresponding clinical information of LUSC patients were downloaded from the TCGA database. Patients were randomly divided into a training (n = 134) and validation cohort (n = 94).

Graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) is a common life-threatening complication that can occur following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. This occurs if donor T cells recognize the host as foreign. During acute GvHD (aGVHD), activated T cells utilize glycolysis as the main source of energy generation.

Background: For metachronous second pulmonary squamous cell carcinoma (msPSC) in patients with resected PSC, the method to distinguish tumour clonality has not yet been well established, which makes it difficult to determine accurate staging and predict prognosis.
Methods: Patients who underwent surgery for first PSC and encountered msPSC were recruited from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. We extracted overall survival 1 (OS1) for the first PSC, overall survival 2 (OS2) for msPSC, and interval survival for the time interval between the first and second PSC.

Severe aplastic anemia (SAA) is an autoimmune disease characterized by immune-mediated destruction of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells. Autoreactive CD8 T cells have been reported as the effector cells; however, the mechanisms regulating their cell activation in SAA remain largely unknown. Here, we performed proteomics and metabolomics analyses of plasma and bone marrow supernatant, together with transcriptional analysis of CD8 T cells from SAA patients and healthy donors, to find key pathways that are involved in pathogenic CD8 T-cell activation.

N6-methyladenosine (mA) methylation, which is modified by the METTL3/METTL14 complex, is a dominant internal modification in mammalian RNA and tightly linked to cancer progression. Here we reveal that METTL3-promoted cell migration, invasion, and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) are associated with expression and membrane localization of β-catenin (encoded by CTNNB1), as opposed to Wnt signaling activation in various types of cancer cells, including cervical, lung, and liver cancer. Specifically, METTL3 regulates the transcription, mRNA decay, translation, and subcellular localization of β-catenin.

Background: This study aims to examine the cross-sectional association between serum total bilirubin (STB) and type 2 diabetes (T2D) risk in the general population, and whether obesity could moderate this association.
Methods: We used data from the 1999-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES), including a total of 38,641 US adult participants who were 18 years or older. The STB was classified as the low, moderate, and high groups according to tertiles.
