Silk-based biodegradable materials play an important role in tissue engineering, especially in the field of bone regeneration. However, while optimizing mechanical properties and bone regeneration characteristics, modified silk fibroin (SF)-based materials also increase the complexity of scaffold systems, which is not conducive to clinical translation. In this study, we first added synthetic biomimetic mineralized collagen (MC) particles to SF-based materials to improve the bone regeneration properties of the scaffolds and simultaneously regulated the degradation rate of the scaffolds to match the bone regeneration rate.

Background: Glycolysis proved to have a prognostic value in lung cancer; however, to identify glycolysis-related genomic markers is expensive and challenging. This study aimed at identifying glycolysis-related computed tomography (CT) radiomics features to develop a deep-learning prognostic model for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Methods: The study included 274 NSCLC patients from cohorts of The Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University (SZ; n=64), the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA)-NSCLC dataset (n=74), and the Gene Expression Omnibus dataset (n=136).

A number of research studies have indicated a potential association between COVID-19 and acute kidney injury (AKI). However, the methodologies employed and the risk estimates derived from these studies vary. Therefore, an umbrella review of systematic reviews and meta-analyses was conducted to determine the incidence of AKI in COVID-19 patients and AKI-associated mortality.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the relationship between total burden of cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) and daytime and nighttime heart rate variability (HRV) parameters.
Method: Consecutive patients with nondisabling ischemic cerebrovascular events were recruited from the cerebrovascular disease clinic of Changzhou Second People's Hospital between January 2022 and June 2023. A total of 144 enrolled participants were divided into a mild CSVD group (74 patients) and a moderate-to-severe CSVD group (70 patients) based on total burden of CSVD.

Aim: To investigate the regulation of ginsenoside Rg1 on the PI3K/AKT pathway through the lncRNA-Malat1/miR-124-3p/ Laminin gamma1 (Lamc1) axis, activating astrocytes (As) to promote the repair of spinal cord injury (SCI).
Methods: Bioinformatics analysis was used to predict miRNA targeting Lamc1 and lncRNA targeting miR-124-3p, which were then validated through a dual-luciferase assay. Following transfection, the relationships between Malat1, miR-124-3p, and Lamc1 expression levels were assessed by qRT-PCR and Western blot (WB).

Background And Purpose: Radiation-induced intestinal injury (RIII) compromises the clinical utility of pelvic radiotherapy (RT). We aimed to explore the protective effect and underlying mechanism of (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) on RIII.
Materials And Methods: We evaluated the protective effect of EGCG on intestine in RIII mouse model and pelvic cancer patients, while explored the underlying mechanism through (1) 16S rRNA sequencing, (2) metabolomic profiles, (3) fresh sterile fecal filtrate (SFF) transplantation, and (4) transcriptome sequencing.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a complex neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressively worsening cognitive decline and memory loss. Excessive iron accumulation produces severe cognitive impairment. However, there are no uniform conclusions about changes in brain iron content in AD.

The resistance mechanism of Gram-negative bacteria to the siderophore antibiotic cefiderocol is primarily attributed to carbapenemase and siderophore uptake pathways; however, specific factors and their relationships remain to be fully elucidated. Here, we constructed cefiderocol-resistant (CRKP) strains carrying different carbapenemases and knocked out siderophore genes to investigate the roles of various carbapenemases and siderophores in the development of cefiderocol resistance. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing revealed that both and significantly increased the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of (KP) to cefiderocol, while showed a modest increase.

Immunocapture liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (IC-LC-MS) bioanalysis has become an indispensable technique across various scientific disciplines, ranging from drug discovery to clinical diagnostics. While traditional immunocapture techniques have proven to be effective, they often encounter limitations in sensitivity, specificity, and compatibility with MS analysis. Chemoenzymatic immunocapture and protein capture (IPC) offers a promising solution, combining the high specificity of antibodies or proteins with the versatility of enzymatic and chemical modifications.

Eliciting tumour microenvironment (TME) activation in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is crucial for effective anti-tumour therapies. The aim of this study is to employ pharmaceutical approaches to precisely deliver Ganoderma polysaccharide (GPS) to tumour sites, thereby enhancing TME activation. We first established a direct link between the accumulation of GPS within tumours and its efficacy in the TME activation.

Background: Cardiovascular function and metabolic homeostasis are closely linked, but the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. Corin is a protease that activates atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), an essential hormone for normal blood pressure and cardiac function. The goal of this study is to investigate a potential corin and ANP function in regulating liver glycogen metabolism and glucose homeostasis.

Background: Current literature offers scant insights into Schatzker IV tibial plateau fractures (TPFs) that affect the posterolateral (PL) column. This study seeks to elucidate the prevalence of meniscal and ligamentous injuries in the knee, as well as the clinical outcomes, in Schatzker IV TPF cases, both with and without PL column involvement.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of clinical and imaging data from patients with Schatzker IV TPFs who received surgical treatment at our institution between January 2018 and January 2022.

Humans spend a third of their lives asleep. While the sleep-wake behaviors are primarily modulated by homeostasis and circadian rhythm, several ambient chemical and physical factors, including light, sound, odor, vibration, temperature, electromagnetic radiation, and ultrasound, also affect sleep and wakefulness. Light at different wavelengths has different effects on sleep and wakefulness.
