Background: Colchicine has been widely used as an anti-gout medication over the past decades. However, it is less commonly used due to its narrow therapeutic range, meaning that its lethal dose is close to its therapeutic dose. The lethal dose of colchicine is considered to be 0.

Intraductal carcinoma of the prostate (IDC-P) and bone metastasis have been both identified to associate with unfavorable clinical outcome of the prostate carcinoma (PCa). Our objective is to examine whether IDC-P or bone metastasis at diagnostic biopsies was associated with each other and whether they were linked with overall survival (OS) and cancer specific survival (CSS) of Grade Group 5 patients. We retrospectively selected the prostate biopsy specimens of 120 PCa patients with Grade Group 5 from Qilu Hospital of Shandong University between 2012 and 2016.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the third most common urological cancer with highly metastatic potential. MAGI1 plays an important role in stabilization of the adherens junctions and has been confirmed to suppress invasiveness and metastasis in multiple cancers in clinic. However, its expression and anti-metastatic ability in RCC are still unclear.

Recent studies have indicated that magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) efficiently diagnoses lung cancer. However, the efficacy of MRI in diagnosing lung cancer requires improving for patients in the early stage of the disease. In the present study, a novel nano-sized contrast agent of chistosan/FeO-enclosed bispecific antibodies (BsAbCENS) was introduced, which targeted carcino-embryonic antigen (CEA) and neuron-specific enolase (NSE) in lung cancer cells.

Members of microRNA(miR)-200 family is proposed as promising biomarkers for colorectal cancer (CRC). However, their expression in CRC patients, and whether them could identify as new biomarkers of cancers are inconsistent and controversy. Therefore, a meta-analysis was performed to assess the diagnostic value of miR-200 family members in CRC patients.

Intraductal carcinoma of the prostate: What we know and what we do not know.

Pathol Res Pract

May 2018

Department of Pathology, Shandong University QiLu Medical College, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Jinan, 250012, China; Department of Pathology, Shandong University Qilu Hospital, Jinan, China. Electronic address:

Intraductal carcinoma of the prostate (IDC-P) is a malignant, clonal proliferation of cells growing within the basement membrane-bound structures of the prostate. IDC-P is usually associated with unfavorable clinicopathologic parameters such as large tumor volume, high-grade Gleason score, extra prostatic extension and seminal vesicle invasion. Majority of laboratory and patient data suggest that IDC-P represents intraductal spread of invasive carcinoma, rather than a precursor lesion.

Background: IL-37 has been identified as a fundamental inhibitor of inflammatory and immunity responses. It plays a crucial protective role in several cancers, but its anti-tumor activity and the potential regulatory mechanism of IL-37 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is largely unclear.

Methods: Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to detect plasma IL-37 expression in NSCLC patients and healthy controls.

The detection and analysis of exon mutations of pneumoconiosis and pneumoco-niosis complicated with lung cancer provide reference evidence for screening, clinical diagnosis and treatment and prognosis in pneumoconiosis and pneumoconiosis complicated with lung cancer. The pathologi-cal tissue samples from 3 pneumoconiosis patients and 3 pneumoconiosis complicated with lung cancer pa-tients were collected. Genomic DNA was extracted and library was prepared.

Purpose: To test the cost-effectiveness of cetuximab plus irinotecan, fluorouracil, and leucovorin (FOLFIRI) as first-line treatment in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) from a Chinese medical insurance perspective.

Results: Baseline analysis showed that the addition of cetuximab increased quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs) by 0.63, an increase of $17,086 relative to FOLFIRI chemotherapy, resulting in an incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) of $27,145/QALY.

This study aims to evaluate differences in myocardial toxicity induced by different chemotherapy regimens. Patients were divided into 2 groups: epirubicin (EPI) combined with cyclophosphamide (EC) group and docetaxel combined with cyclophosphamide (TC) group. Changes in electrocardiograph (ECG) and ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) were determined pre- and 1, 3, and 6 courses of postchemotherapy.

Metastatic involvement of the colon is extremely rare. We report a 63-year-old man with colonic metastasis from esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Whole-body F-FDG PET/CT showed abnormal tracer uptakes in the sigmoid colon, which was subsequently confirmed as metastatic from esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

Recurrence of breast cancer after radiotherapy may be partly explained by the presence of radioresistant cells. Thus, it would be desirable to develop an effective therapy against radioresistant cells. In this study, we demonstrated the intense antitumor activity of cytokine-induced killer cells against MCF-7 and radioresistant MCF-7 cells, as revealed by cytokine-induced killer-mediated cytotoxicity, tumor cell proliferation, and tumor invasion.

Cytokine induced killer (CIK) cells have a powerful tumor cells killing activity both in vitro and in vivo and transfusion of these cells have become an adjuvant treatment for tumors. CIK cells are induced and amplified from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) with multiple cytokines. As CD4CD25 regulatory T cells can be also induced by high dose of interleukin 2 (IL-2) which is used for CIK cells amplification in the CIK cell culture system, the anti-tumor activity of CIK cells was suppressed to some extent.

Department of Internal Medicine, Qingdao Central Hospital, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University Medical College, Qingdao, Shandong 266042, P.R. China.

Primary mediastinal seminoma often occurs in the anterior mediastinum of young males. It is unusual for the tumor to originate in the middle or posterior mediastinum, and such cases have rarely been reported in the English literature. The present study reports the case of a 52-year-old man with a 3.

In this study, the relationship between CpG island methylation and smoking and DNA methyltransferase in the occurrence and development of lung adenocarcinoma was explored by detecting p16 promoter methylation status. Protein and mRNA levels of p16 were detected by immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization assays. p16 gene promoter and exon 1 CpG island locus Hap II sites methylation status was analyzed with the methylation-specific PCR.
