Lovastatin/SN38 co-loaded liposomes amplified ICB therapeutic effect via remodeling the immunologically-cold colon tumor and synergized stimulation of cGAS-STING pathway.

Cancer Lett

April 2024

School of Pharmaceutical Science, State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Disease & The Second Affiliated Hospital, Guangzhou Medical University, Guangzhou, 511436, PR China. Electronic address:

Current immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) immunotherapeutics have revolutionized cancer treatment. However, many cancers especially the "immunologically cold" tumors, do not respond to ICB, prompting the search for additional strategies to achieve durable responses. The cGAS-STING pathway, as an essential immune response pathway, has been demonstrated for a potent target to sensitize ICB immunotherapy.

Background/objectives: To determine the relationship between corneal stress-strain index (SSI) and retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) thickness.

Subjects/methods: 1645 healthy university students from a university-based study contributed to the analysis. The RNFL thickness was measured by high-definition optical coherence tomography (HD-OCT), axial length (AL) was measured by IOL Master, and corneal biomechanics including SSI, biomechanical corrected intraocular pressure (bIOP), and central corneal thickness (CCT) were measured by Corvis ST.

Background: Severe degenerative mitral regurgitation (DMR) can cause a poor prognosis if left untreated. For patients considered at prohibitive surgical risk, transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) has become an accepted alternative therapy. The DragonFly transcatheter valve repair system is an innovative evolution of the mitral TEER device family to treat DMR.

[Research Progress of Long Non-Coding RNA in Multiple Myeloma--Review].

Zhongguo Shi Yan Xue Ye Xue Za Zhi

February 2024

Department of Clinical Laboratory Examination, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University, Kunming 650101, Yunnan Province, China.E-mail:

Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) can affect the occurrence and development of diseases by directly or indirectly regulating target genes and their signal pathways. With the deepening of research, more and more lncRNA have been found to be involved in regulating the occurrence, development and drug resistance of multiple myeloma (MM). Therefore, it is necessary to study the role and molecular mechanism of abnormal expression of lncRNA in MM, which can provide theoretical basis for clinical diagnosis and targeted therapy.

Background: The lack of specific predictors for type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) severely impacts early intervention/prevention efforts. Elevated branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs: Isoleucine, leucine, valine) and aromatic amino acids (AAAs: Tyrosine, tryptophan, phenylalanine)) show high sensitivity and specificity in predicting diabetes in animals and predict T2DM 10-19 years before T2DM onset in clinical studies. However, improvement is needed to support its clinical utility.

Cholesterol metabolism has important roles in maintaining membrane integrity and countering the development of diseases such as obesity and cancers. Cancer cells sustain cholesterol biogenesis for their proliferation and microenvironment reprograming even when sterols are abundant. However, efficacy of targeting cholesterol metabolism for cancer treatment is always compromised.

Programmed cell death is a major life activity of both normal development and disease. Necroptosis is early recognized as a caspase-independent form of programmed cell death followed obviously inflammation. Apoptosis is a gradually recognized mode of cell death that is characterized by a special morphological changes and unique caspase-dependent biological process.
