Electronic address:

Sepsis-induced acute kidney injury (S-AKI) is highly lethal, and effective drugs for treatment are scarce. Previously, we reported the robust therapeutic efficacy of fibroblastic reticular cells (FRCs) in sepsis. Here, we demonstrate the ability of FRC-derived exosomes (FRC-Exos) to improve C57BL/6 mouse kidney function following cecal ligation and puncture-induced sepsis.

Although bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs)-derived exosomes have been reported to be closely associated with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) progression and chemo-resistance, but its detailed functions and molecular mechanisms have not been fully delineated. Besides, serum RNA m6A demethylase fat mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO)-containing exosomes are deemed as important indicators for cancer progression, and this study aimed to investigate the role of BM-MSCs-derived FTO-exosomes in regulating the malignant phenotypes of AML cells. Here, we verified that BM-MSCs-derived exosomes delivered FTO to promote cancer aggressiveness, stem cell properties and Cytosine arabinoside (Ara-C)-chemoresistance in AML cells, and the underlying mechanisms were also uncovered.

Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is widely used for treating critically-ill patients in the emergency department in China. Anticoagulant therapy is needed to prevent clotting in the extracorporeal circulation during CRRT. Regional citrate anticoagulation (RCA) has been shown to potentially be safer and more effective and is now recommended as the preferred anticoagulant method for CRRT.

Department of Critical Care Medicine, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical College, Hainan province, Haikou City, China.

Critical illness refers to the clinical signs of severe, variable and life-threatening critical conditions, often accompanied by insufficiency or failure of one or more organs. Bone health of critically ill patients is severely affected during and after ICU admission. Therefore, clinical work should focus on ICU-related bone loss, and early development and implementation of related prevention and treatment strategies: optimized and personalized nutritional support (high-quality protein, trace elements and intestinal prebiotics) and appropriate physiotherapy and muscle training should be implemented as early as possible after ICU admission and discharge.
