SH3 domain-binding glutamic acid-rich protein-like 3 (SH3BGRL3) is involved in several human cancers. However, its relationship with gastric cancer (GC) remains elusive. Multiple online bioinformatic tools were used to evaluate the messenger (m)RNA expression levels of SH3BGRL3 in GC using data from The Cancer Genome Atlas and Gene Expression Omnibus databases.

Background: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has gained global attention, particularly after Professor Youyou Tu was awarded the Nobel Prize for her discovery of artemisinin as a treatment for malaria. However, the theory behind TCM is often perceived as a "black-box" with complex components and an unclear structure and mechanism of action. This had hindered the development of TCM within the framework of modern medicine.

Background: Gelastic seizure (GS) is a rare type of epilepsy that most commonly appears in patients with hypothalamic hamartoma. It is rarely associated with other types of brain damage. This particular type of epilepsy is relatively rare and has few links to other brain lesions.

There is no consensus on the cause, classification, and clinicopathological features of GEN-FGMLs, and misdiagnosis is common because of similarities in symptoms.
Methods: 37 cases diagnosed with GEN-FGMLs were included in this study.

Aims: In this investigation, we administered oxidative stress to nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs), recognized DNA-damage-inducible transcript 4 (DDIT4) as a component in intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), and devised a hydrogel capable of conveying small interfering RNA (siRNA) to IVDD.
Methods: An in vitro model for oxidative stress-induced injury in NPCs was developed to elucidate the mechanisms underlying the upregulation of DDIT4 expression, activation of the reactive oxygen species (ROS)-thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP)-NLRP3 signalling pathway, and nucleus pulposus pyroptosis. Furthermore, the mechanism of action of small interfering DDIT4 (siDDIT4) on NPCs in vitro was validated.

The blood-brain Barrier (BBB), combined with immune clearance, contributes to the low efficacy of drug delivery and suboptimal treatment outcomes in glioma. Here, we propose a novel approach that combines the self-assembly of mouse bone marrow-derived macrophage membrane with a targeted positive charge polymer (An-PEI), along with low-frequency ultrasound (LFU) irradiation, to achieve efficient and safe therapy for glioma. Our findings demonstrate the efficacy of a charge-induced self-assembly strategy, resulting in a stable co-delivery nanosystem with a high drug loading efficiency of 44.

Background: Patients with triple-positive breast cancer (TPBC) have a higher risk of recurrence and lower survival rates than patients with other luminal breast cancers. However, there are few studies on the predictive biomarkers of prognosis and treatment responses in TPBC.
Methods: Proliferation essential genes (PEGs) were acquired from clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats-associated protein 9 (CRISPR-Cas9) technology, and cohorts of patients with TPBC were obtained from public databases and our cohort.

Objective: The impact of inflammatory response on tumor development and therapeutic response is of significant importance in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). The customization of specialized prognostication approaches and the exploration of supplementary treatment options hold critical clinical implications in relation to the inflammatory response.
Methods: In the present study, unsupervised clustering was implemented on TCGA-KIRC tumors using transcriptome profiles of inflammatory response genes, which was then validated in two ccRCC datasets (E-MATB-1980 and ICGC) and two immunotherapy datasets (IMvigor210 and Liu et al.

Objective: The optimal repair method for bursal-side partial-thickness rotator cuff tears (PTRCTs) involving >50% of the thickness remains a controversial topic. The study was aimed to compare the functional and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) outcomes after in situ repair or tear completion before repair of bursal-side PTRCTs.
Methods: A retrospective clinical study was conducted involving 58 patients who underwent in situ repair or tear completion before repair of bursal-side PTRCTs between January 2019 and December 2020.

In the tumor microenvironment, interferon gamma (IFN-γ) secreted by tumor infiltrating lymphocytes can upregulate programmed cell death 1 ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression in many cancers. The present study evaluated the expression of PD-L1 in selected colorectal cancer cell lines with IFN-γ treatment and explored the correlation between programmed cell death 1 ligand 1 expression and KRAS/TP53 mutation status. The selected colorectal cancer cell lines had known KRAS mutations or TP53 mutations.

Background: Early onset Parkinson's disease (EOPD) is a neurodegenerative disease associated with the action ofto genetic factors. A mutated phospholipase A2 type VI gene () is considered to be one of pathogenic genes involved in EOPD development. Although EOPD caused by a mutated has been recorded in major databases, not all mutant genotypes have been reported.

Background: The budding yeast Komagataella phaffii (Pichia pastoris) is widely employed to secrete proteins of academic and industrial interest. For secretory proteins, signal peptides are the sorting signal to direct proteins from cytosol to extracellular matrix, and their secretion efficiency directly impacts the yields of the targeted proteins in fermentation broth. Although the α-mating factor (MF) secretion signal from S.

Potentiometric immunoassays have been utilized for the quantitative detection of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) in hepatocellular carcinoma, but most of them involve low sensitivity and enzyme labels, and thus are unfavorable for routine use. In this work, we report the proof-of-concept of a sensitive and powerful ion-selective potentiometric sensing method for AFP detection with an amplified signal readout. This potentiometric immunoassay mainly contains a silver nanocluster-functionalized single-stranded DNA (AgNC-DNA), a short DNA primer and two antibodies.

Background: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the seventh most common cancer in humans, of which clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) accounts for the majority. Recently, although there have been significant breakthroughs in the treatment of ccRCC, the prognosis of targeted therapy is still poor. Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is a pleiotropic protein, which is overexpressed in many cancers and plays a carcinogenic role.

Gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma (GNEC) is a common type of neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) with a poor prognosis and limited therapeutic options. The underlying mechanisms of chemoresistance in patients with GNEC and those with NEC are largely unknown, and thus, reliable biomarkers and therapeutic targets that could improve treatment outcomes in patients with NECs are lacking. The aim of this study was to identify specific targets and investigate their roles in GNEC progression and treatment resistance.

Background: The clinical treatment of patients suspected of pulmonary infections often rely on empirical antibiotics. However, preliminary diagnoses were based on clinical manifestations and conventional microbiological tests, which could later be proved wrong. In this case, we presented a patient whose initial diagnosis was lung abscess, but antibiotic treatments had no effect, and metagenomic Next-Generation Sequencing (mNGS) indicated presence of neoplasm.

The genome-wide CRISPR-cas9 dropout screening has emerged as an outstanding approach for characterization of driver genes of tumor growth. The present study aims to investigate core genes related to clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) cell viability by analyzing the CRISPR-cas9 screening database DepMap, which may provide a novel target in ccRCC therapy. Candidate genes related to ccRCC cell viability by CRISPR-cas9 screening from DepMap and genes differentially expressed between ccRCC tissues and normal tissues from TCGA were overlapped.
