Loading drug-maleimide (MAL) conjugates into liposomes preloaded with glutathione (GSH) can prepare the liposome encapsulating GSH-conjugated prodrugs, which serve as a feasible way to construct liposomal formulation. However, the effects ofthelinker on the development of this liposomal system remained unclear. Herein, docetaxel (DTX)-MAL conjugates linked by various linkers were used for such studies.

The prevalence of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) keeps rising with only a few drugs available. The present study aims to investigate the effects and mechanisms of cordycepin on MASLD. Male C57BL/6 mice were induced with a 90-day high-fat diet (HFD) and intraperitoneal administration with streptozotocin to establish MASLD murine model.

The eye is considered to be an immune-privileged region. However, several parts of the eye have distinct mechanisms for delivering immune cells to the injury sites or even in response to aging. Although these immune responses are intended to be protective, the visual acuity can be compromised by the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines by immune cells, which induce chronic inflammation and fibrosis.

Gram-negative bacteria infections in diabetic wounds are complicated to control, leading to amputation and even death in severe cases. There is an urgent need to develop effective therapeutic strategies. In recent years, electrospinning has attracted much attention due to its resemblance to extracellular matrix (ECM), which can regulate local cellular proliferation, migration, differentiation, etc.

Background And Purpose: Diabetic wounds are serious chronic complications of diabetes and can lead to amputation and death. Although considerable progress has been made in drugs and materials for treating it, it's still an urgent clinical problem as the materials and drugs have potential therapeutic drawbacks, such as low delivery efficiency and poor tissue permeability. To promote diabetic wound healing, a composite of thonningianin A (TA)-loaded chitosan nanoparticles (CNPS) encapsulated by a Pluronic F-127 (PF-127) hydrogel (TA-CNPS-PF) was developed in this study.

Introduction: It is difficult to detect acute low-tone sensorineural hearing loss (ALHL) because of only low-frequency hearing loss and atypical early symptoms. The etiology of ALHL is still elusive, and psychosomatic factors influence deafness and tinnitus. Therefore, this study aimed to clarify the correlation between psychosomatic factors and the incidence of ALHL to facilitate the prevention of ALHL.

This study aimed to investigate the association between global cognitive functioning (GCF) and fear of falling (FOF) in a large population-based sample of adults aged 45 years and older. A total of 2997 and 2012 participants from the original sample were included in the cross-sectional and prospective models, respectively. Participants were re-coded to 'no FOF' and 'FOF' based on their self-reported responses, and those who reported FOF at follow-up were defined as the newly-developed FOF group.

Metaflammation is low-grade inflammation triggered by chronic metabolic imbalance and caused by dysregulated metabolites in metabolic inflammatory syndrome (MIS), which includes four diseases: obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), atherosclerosis (AS), and nonalcoholic fatty liver diseases (NAFLD, recently proposed to be replaced by metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, MASLD). These diseases exhibit apparent sex dimorphism as regards MIS. Estrogen not only plays a crucial role in gender differences in adults but also possesses an anti-inflammatory effect on many metabolic diseases.

Background And Aims: This study aims to investigate the diagnostic value of chest-CT epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) radiomics feature in coronary atherosclerotic stenosis.
Methods: Clinical data from 215 individuals who underwent coronary angiography and chest-CT scan from January to July 2022 at our institution were retrospectively analyzed. Based on the coronary angiography results, the total population, men, and women were divided into the CAD group and non-CAD group.

Primary cilia are microtubule-based organelles that function as cellular antennae to address multiple metabolic and extracellular cues. The past decade has seen significant advances in understanding the pro-tumorigenic role of N-methyladenosine (mA) modification in tumorigenesis. Nevertheless, whether mA modification modulates the cilia dynamics during cancer progression remains unclear.

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is a prevalent complication of diabetes mellitus (DM), significantly contributing to the risk of amputation and mortality. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) can induce both neurological and structural harm through direct impact and pyroptosis, underscoring the critical role of ROS regulation in mitigating DPN. In this research endeavor, we propose harnessing the inherent antioxidant properties of sulfhydryl groups by grafting them onto gold nanodots through an amidation reaction, resulting in the creation of ROS-responsive AuNDs.

Invasive fungal infections (IFIs) pose a significant threat to immunocompromised individuals, leading to considerable morbidity and mortality. Prompt and accurate diagnosis is essential for effective treatment. Here we develop a rapid molecular diagnostic method that involves three steps: fungal enrichment using affinity-magnetic separation (AMS), genomic DNA extraction with silicon hydroxyl magnetic beads, and detection through a one-pot system.

The role of radiosurgery in preventing haemorrhage in brainstem cavernous malformations remains a subject of debate. This study aims to evaluate whether radiosurgery provides a protective benefit against haemorrhage in these patients. This multicentre, prospective observational study was conducted in 17 centres and enrolled eligible patients with brainstem cavernous malformations consecutively.

Ferroptosis is a type of regulated cell death that occurs due to the iron-dependent accumulation of lethal reactive oxygen species (ROS) from lipids. Ferroptosis is characterized by distinct morphological, biochemical, and genetic features that differentiate it from other regulated cell death (RCD) types, which include apoptosis, various necrosis types, and autophagy. Recent reports show that ferritin formation is correlated to many disorders, such as acute injury, infarction, inflammation, and cancer.

In patients with abdominal or pelvic tumors, radiotherapy can result in radiation-induced intestinal injury (RIII), a potentially severe complication for which there are few effective therapeutic options. Sitagliptin (SI) is an oral hypoglycemic drug that exhibits antiapoptotic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activity, but how it influences RIII-associated outcomes has yet to be established. In this study, a pH-responsive metal-organic framework-based nanoparticle platform was developed for the delivery of SI (SI@ZIF-8@MS NP).

Background: Complications such as ulceration, depigmentation, and recurrence limit the use of intralesional injections and brachytherapy in keloid treatment. We designed a modified "sandwich" therapy based on the spatial distribution of keloid components to reduce the incidence of these complications.
Methods: First, we analyzed the spatial distribution pattern of scar tissue through single-cell sequencing analysis, ultrasound, and pathology.

Introduction: Low bone density and lack of medial support are the two most important factors affecting the stability of locking plate fixation for osteoporotic proximal humeral fractures (PHFs). This study aimed to compare the biomechanical characteristics of PHILOS locking plates combined with calcar screws, bone cement, fibular allografts, and medial locking plate support strategies for treating osteoporotic PHFs with medial column instability.

An accurate diagnosis of Parkinson's disease (PD) remains challenging and the exact cause of the disease is unclean. The aims are to identify hub genes associated with the complement system in PD and to explore their underlying molecular mechanisms. Initially, differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and key module genes related to PD were mined through differential expression analysis and WGCNA.
