Introduction: Screen-based behaviours have brought great changes to our lifestyles over the last 50 years. There is limited data evaluating the effects of such alterations on the prevalence of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) in adolescents. This study sets out to assess possible associations of excessive screen exposure with liver steatosis in a representative sample of US adolescents.

The acute and large area skin healing has been an intractable problem for both clinician and patient. Exosomes derived from human-induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC-Exos) have been a novel promising cell-free treatment on skin damage repair. In this study, in vivo skin trauma model of full-layer skin damage on mouse back and in vitro skin-like trauma model of human keratinocytes (HaCaT) scratches were established to investigate the effects of hiPSC-Exos on the acute wound healing, and its potential regulation mechanism would be tried to explore.

Surgical treatment of Wassel type Ⅵ radial polydactyly with convergent deformity is technically challenging. We found that 17 of our cases exhibited cartilaginous connections between the bases of the radial and ulnar thumb's metacarpals. To better assess the anatomic features and guide surgical design, we used X-ray and MRI imaging to characterize the adduction of the ulnar metacarpal, radial subluxation of the metacarpophalangeal joint, narrowness of the first web, and thenar muscle distribution.

Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) has emerged as a promising material for bone substitution; however, its limited osseointegration hinders its clinical applications. This research employs a porous structural design alongside surface modification techniques to improve the osseointegration properties of PEEK. Porous PEEK scaffolds were fabricated via 3D printing technology, followed by the application of a stable coating of Yoda1-loaded methacrylated gelatin (GelMA) on their surfaces.

It is now understood that iron crosses the blood-brain barrier a complex metabolic regulatory network and participates in diverse critical biological processes within the central nervous system, including oxygen transport, energy metabolism, and the synthesis and catabolism of myelin and neurotransmitters. During brain development, iron is distributed throughout the brain, playing a pivotal role in key processes such as neuronal development, myelination, and neurotransmitter synthesis. In physiological aging, iron can selectively accumulate in specific brain regions, impacting cognitive function and leading to intracellular redox imbalance, mitochondrial dysfunction, and lipid peroxidation, thereby accelerating aging and associated pathologies.

Diabetic wounds, characterized by chronic inflammation and impaired angiogenesis, often lead to severe complications such as persistent infections and an elevated risk of amputation, significantly affecting a patient's quality of life. Garcinol, a polyisoprenylated benzophenone derived from the rind of Garcinia indica, exhibits potent anti-inflammatory, angiogenic, and antioxidant effects in various disease models. However, its potential to enhance diabetic wound healing remains unclear.

Introduction: Microglia, the resident immune cells of the central nervous system, play a pivotal role in maintaining homeostasis, responding to injury, and modulating neuroinflammation. However, the limitations of rodent models in accurately representing human microglia have posed significant challenges in the study of retinal diseases.
Methods: PLX5622 was used to eliminate endogenous microglia in mice through oral and intraperitoneal administration, followed by transplantation of human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived microglia (hiPSC-microglia, iMG) into retinal explants to create a novel ex vivo chimeric model containing xenotransplanted microglia (xMG).

After spinal cord injury (SCI), microglia polarization plays an important role in spinal cord recovery and axon regeneration. In this study, we conducted mRNA microarrays to identify genes associated with different microglial phenotypes. The results showed a correlation between microglial polarization and the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, a key regulator of inflammatory responses.

Recent research has identified ferroptosis, a newly recognized form of programmed cell death, is a crucial factor in spinal cord injury (SCI). Tetrahydroberberine (THB) is a tetrahydroisoquinoline alkaloid derived from the tuber of the poppy family plant, Corydalis, which is recognized for its antioxidant and neuroprotective properties. Despite these attributes, the potential protective effects of THB against SCI are yet to be thoroughly investigated.

Background: Elevated serum anion gap at hospital admission is often linked to a poor prognosis in critically ill patients, but there is insufficient data on this correlation in patients with acute myocardial infarction accompanied by heart failure. In this study, we aimed to determine the relationship between serum admission AG and all-cause mortality in patients with acute myocardial infarction accompanied by heart failure.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of data within the MIMIC-IV database.
