Exacerbation of osteolysis in osteoporotic bone defects presents a significant challenge for implant-based treatments. This underscores the urgent need to develop implants that actively mitigate osteolysis while simultaneously promoting bone regeneration. In this study, the osteogenic potential of mesoporous bioactive glass (MBG) and β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) was combined with the anti-bone resorption property of Ga doping.

Blood transfusions were frequently in massive burn patients, current studies focus on the trigger threshold of red blood cell transfusion, and few studies focus on the impact of red blood cell transfusion volume on patient outcomes. We initiated a multicenter cohort study to explore the impact of red blood cell transfusions volume on patient mortality. 379 patients in three centers were enrolled to the cohort.

The Yes-associated protein (YAP) is a key regulator in the pathogenesis of gastric cancer (GC), yet its role in modulating autophagy remains unclear. This study investigated the effects of YAP modulation on autophagy and tumor progression using the SNU-484 and MKN-74 gastric cancer cell lines. YAP overexpression led to increased B-cell lymphoma-2 (BCL-2) transcription, reducing autophagy and enhancing cell survival, while YAP knockdown resulted in elevated autophagic activity.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma remains one of the deadliest malignancies, with limited treatment options and a high recurrence rate. Recurrence happens often with metastasis, for which cancer cells must adapt to isolation stress to successfully colonize distant organs. While the fibronectin-integrin axis has been implicated in this adaptation, its regulatory mechanisms require further elaboration.

Purpose: Curve matching can predict the height trajectories of children by analyzing longitudinal growth data. We extended the method to improve the prediction of response to long-acting growth hormone treatment in children with growth hormone deficiency (GHD).

Methods: We analyzed data from a previous real-world study with a 36-month treatment of PEGylated recombinant human growth hormone (PEG-rhGH).

Three deficiencies of the Papa criteria (point scoring system, PSS) for thromboangiitis obliterans (TAO) were identified and updated. According to the new criteria, 185 patients with clinically diagnosed TAO in a single center using the diagnostic criteria of Shionoya were scored and re-diagnosed. The diagnostic criteria of The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (JMHLW) were used as the comparative standard to compare the diagnostic value of the revised PSS (RPSS) criteria in the diagnosis of TAO.

Aim: To analyze whether alterations of voxel mirror homology connectivity (VMHC) values, as determined by resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI), occur in cerebral regions of patients with hypertensive retinopathy (HR) and to determine the relationship between VMHC values and clinical characteristics in patients with HR.

Methods: Twenty-one patients with HR and 21 age-matched healthy controls (HCs) were assessed by rs-fMRI scanning. The functional connectivity between the hemispheres of the cerebrum was assessed by measuring VMHC, with the ability of VMHC to distinguish between the HR and HC groups assessed using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis.

In this study, the application of banana-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) as natural carriers for hydrophobic nutraceuticals was investigated for the first time. Curcumin was solubilized in an amorphous state within the hydrophobic domains of the EVs in banana juice. The bioaccessibility of the curcumin was considerably higher in the curcumin-loaded EVs (CEVs) than for pure curcumin crystals.

Introduction: Gastric cancer (GC) families as a whole face the stressful time of cancer together, and the quality of life (QoL) of both the patient and the caregiver can be affected. Most past researchers have focused on the QoL of GC patients, but have neglected the role that caregivers play in the treatment process. The purpose of this study was to examine the factors influencing QoL of GC patients and their family caregivers, to compare the interactions and similarities and differences between the two influences, and to construct a conceptual model of the influences on QoL of GC patients and their caregivers based on the results of the study.

Wounds in diabetic patients are often inhibited in angiogenesis and extracellular matrix synthesis due to insufficient oxygen supply, leading to prolonged healing time. Although oxygen therapy has been shown to promote the healing of chronic wounds, its therapeutic effectiveness remains limited by high costs, complex procedures, and a lack of sustainability. In this study, we developed an aerogel composed of chitosan (CS), sodium alginate (SA), and calcium peroxide (CPO).

Acute lung injury (ALI) refers to damage to lung related cells, typically caused by an uncontrollable inflammatory response, and over-generated reactive oxygen species (ROS). Increasing evidence suggests that reprogramming lung redox homeostasis holds significant potentials for the clinical treatment of ALI. Herein, the simple synthesis of ultra-small Pd loaded covalent organic framework (COF) (TP@Pd) is reported, which, when combined with near infrared (NIR) irradiation, exhibits nanozyme functionalities, including multiple enzyme mimicking activities and broad spectrum ROS scavenging, thereby promoting tissue repair for ALI immunotherapy.
