Sleep Breath
December 2023
Post-Graduation Program in Health Sciences, Federal University of Bahia, Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is the most common form of sleep-disordered breathing in cerebrovascular diseases, requiring a multidisciplinary approach. There are few studies evaluating the effects of inspiratory muscle training (IMT) in individuals with OSA and the findings regarding the possible effect on apnea hypopnea index (AHI) reduction are controversial.
Objective: This protocol for a randomized clinical trial will assess the effects of IMT on the severity of obstructive sleep apnea, sleep quality, and daytime sleepiness in individuals after stroke participating in a rehabilitation program.

Central Core Disease (CCD) is a genetic neuromuscular disorder characterized by the presence of cores in muscle biopsy. The inheritance has been described as predominantly autosomal dominant (AD), and the disease may present as severe neonatal or mild adult forms. Here we report clinical and molecular data on a large cohort of Brazilian CCD patients, including a retrospective clinical analysis and molecular screening for variants using Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS).

Background: To improve the use of eRehabilitation after stroke, the identification of barriers and facilitators influencing this use in different healthcare contexts around the world is needed. Therefore, this study aims to investigate differences and similarities in factors influencing the use of eRehabilitation after stroke among Brazilian Healthcare Professionals (BHP) and Dutch Healthcare Professionals (DHP).
Method: A cross-sectional survey study including 88 statements about factors related to the use of eRehabilitation (4-point Likert scale; 1-4; unimportant-important/disagree-agree).

Firefighting is associated with high-level physical demands and requires appropriate physical fitness. Considering that obesity has been correlated with decreased cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) and that the prevalence of obesity may also be elevated within firefighters (FF), we analyzed the association between CRF and body composition (BC) in Brazilian military FF. We assessed 4,237 male FF (18-49 years) who performed a physical fitness test that included BC and CRF.
