Pancreatic regeneration is a complex process observed in both normal and pathological conditions. The aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the emergence of a functionally active population of insulin-secreting β-cells in the adult pancreas. The renewal of β-cells is governed by a multifaceted interaction between cellular sources of genetic and epigenetic factors.

This paper describes the process, advantages and limitations of a qualitative methodology for defining and analyzing vulnerabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Implemented in Italy in two sites (Rome and outside Rome, in some small-medium sized municipalities in Latium) in 2021, this investigation employed a mixed digital research tool that was also used simultaneously in four other European countries. Its digital nature encompasses both processes of data collection.

The aim of this article is to show how the plan formulation method (PFM), an empirically validated method for case formulation based on control mastery theory (CMT), can help clinicians make sense of and use what they feel during sessions to better understand and treat their patients. We give a brief overview of the main psychoanalytic conceptions about countertransference, provide a brief introduction to CMT, and describe the concept of the plan and the PFM. We then show, using several brief clinical examples, how the components of the plan (patient's goals, pathogenic beliefs, traumas, tests, and insights) may help understand clinicians' in-session feelings.

Background: The thorough knowledge of the anatomy of mandibular premolars is an essential factor for a correct approach to endodontic treatment, concerning both non-surgical and surgical treatment.
Objectives: Since there is no data on the Italian population in this context, the aim of this study was to evaluate, from a surgical perspective, the anatomy of mandibular premolars among the Italian population through a cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) analysis, considering the morphology of their root canals according to Vertucci's classification and the prospect of their apices with regard to the vestibular bone plate and the proximity to the inferior alveolar nerve and the mental foramen as well as to evaluate the most appropriate distance from the apex in the radicular resection (3 mm or 5 mm).
Material And Methods: At total of 492 CBCT acquisitions (from 246 males and 246 females) were included retrospectively, evaluating 720 mandibular premolars.

Background: Frontal fibrosing alopecia (FFA) is a scarring alopecia that has been reported mostly in postmenopausal women and is characterized by frontotemporal hairline. Currently, there are only a few reports about FFA in male patients.
Objective: This study sought to analyze clinical and trichoscopic features of FFA in a case series of men and to describe the main features of FFA in male patients through a review of the literature.
Background: Intra-operative neurological monitoring (IONM) during carotid endarterectomy (CEA) aims to reduce neurological morbidity of surgery.
Objective: This narrative review analyses the role and results of different methods of IONM.
Methods: review articles on PUBMED and Cochrane Library, by searching key words related to IONM and CEA, from 2000 up to date.
Objective: The aim of our study was to analyze the specificity, accuracy and sensitivity of a simple, easy to calculate, prognostic score for hospitalized COVID19 patients developing deep vein thrombosis.
Methods: From March 1st to April 28th, 942 COVID-19 patients with severe symptoms were admitted to the hospital San Matteo of Pavia-Italy. Thirty two patients (3.

Background And Aims: Glucagon-like Peptide 1 Receptor Agonists (GLP1-RA) has been associated with a reduction of major cardiovascular events (MACE) and mortality on the basis of the results of cardiovascular outcome trials (CVOT). Several meta-analyses on this issue have been recently published; however, they were all restricted to CVOT, with the exclusion of all studies designed for other endpoints; moreover, other cardiovascular endpoints, such as atrial fibrillation and heart failure have not been fully explored.
Methods And Results: A Medline search for GLP-1 receptor agonists (exenatide, liraglutide, lixisenatide, albiglutide, dulaglutide, or semaglutide) was performed, collecting all randomized clinical trials with a duration ≥52 weeks, enrolling patients with type 2 diabetes, and comparing a GLP-1 receptor agonist with placebo or any other non-GLP-1 receptor agonist drug.

Immunotherapeutic strategies to treat neurodegenerative disorders have inspired the scientific community. The aim of our review is to address the translational aspects of neuroimmunology to describe the efficacy of immunotherapy in the treatment of pediatric neurodegenerative disorders. In the studies we analyzed IVIG were found to be efficient in the treatment of post-streptococcal neurodegenerative disorders, even if in PANDAS, plasma-exchange (PE) showed a higher efficiency.
