(1) Background: The purpose of this study is to compare the rate of COVID-19 vaccination among psoriasis patients internationally and to correlate it with their treatment regimens. (2) Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study from January 2021 to October 2022 among adults in the United States (US), Chile, China, Switzerland, and Singapore using the Global Healthcare Study on Psoriasis survey. (3) Results: A total of 310 psoriasis patients in the US (98), Chile (32), China (80), Switzerland (39), and Singapore (61) were surveyed.

Recurrent breast cancers often develop resistance to standard-of-care therapies. Identifying targetable factors contributing to cancer recurrence remains the rate-limiting step in improving long-term outcomes. In this study, we identify tumor cell-derived osteopontin as an autocrine and paracrine driver of tumor recurrence.

Listeria monocytogenes is a foodborne pathogen of significant concern for the food industry due to its remarkable ability to persist through safety control efforts, posing a subsequent health threat to consumers. Understanding the microbial communities coexisting with L. monocytogenes in food processing environments provides insights into its persistence mechanisms.

Background: Inflammation is characterized by a metabolic switch promoting glycolysis and lactate production. Hexokinases (HK) catalyze the first reaction of glycolysis and inhibition of epithelial HK2 protected from colitis in mice. HK2 expression has been described as elevated in patients with intestinal inflammation; however, there is conflicting data from few cohorts especially with severely inflamed individuals; thus, systematic studies linking disease activity with HK2 levels are needed.

Introduction: Cardiac intensive care providers require a comprehensive understanding of cardiac output and oxygen delivery. The estimation of cardiac output in clinical practice often relies on thermodilution and the Fick principle. Central venous saturation and lactate levels are commonly used indicators for cardiac output assessment.

Study Design: A retrospective cohort study.
Purpose: To examine the effect of cannabis use history on postoperative opioid utilization in patients undergoing one- to three-level lumbar fusion for degenerative spine disease.
Overview Of Literature: Strategies to minimize dosing and chronic opioid use are needed for spine surgery given their widespread prescription for postsurgical pain management.

Objective: Theoretical models note psychosocial functioning as a key influence on transition readiness skills (TRS) among emerging adults (EA), but little is known about the relative importance of unique vs. shared anxiety and depressive dimensions, operationalized according to Clark and Watson's (1991) tripartite model, in contributing to TRS. Moreover, although development of TRS is important for all EA, few studies have examined whether the strength of relationships between internalizing symptoms and TRS vary between EA with and without chronic physical health conditions (CHC).

Objective: To introduce New2Neuropsychology (N2N), an organization that seeks to increase recruitment of historically underrepresented minoritized (URM) students, and to examine preliminary data on N2N's impact and effectiveness in increasing knowledge about neuropsychology for URM students.
Method: This paper reviews relevant literature on factors informing the development of N2N. We also present descriptive data on N2N's impact to date, and results of pre- and post- surveys for presentations about neuropsychology delivered to 90 college students (mean age = 24.
During the 2022 mpox outbreak, our study conducted 30 interviews with a recruited sample of Chicago gay men (age 18+) during June-September to investigate their experiences of mpox, HIV/AIDS, and COVID-19. Participants were interviewed with a semi-structured guide about gay sexual identity and social experiences; HIV/AIDS, ART, and PrEP; and COVID-19 behaviors and vaccination. All 30 interview respondents had been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and expressed minimal COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFoot-and-mouth disease vaccination using inactivated virus is suboptimal, as the icosahedral viral capsids often disassemble into antigenically distinct pentameric units during long-term storage, or exposure to elevated temperature or lowered pH, and thus raise a response that is no longer protective. Furthermore, as foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV)'s seven serotypes are antigenically diverse, cross-protection from a single serotype vaccine is limited, and most existing mouse and bovine antibodies and camelid single-domain heavy chain-only antibodies are serotype-specific. For quality control purposes, there is a real need for pan-serotype antibodies that clearly distinguish between pentamer (12S) and protective intact FMDV capsid.

: Basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) and squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) are non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSCs) and the most prevalent cancers in the United States. Image-guided superficial radiotherapy (IGSRT) is a relatively new treatment option that uses high-resolution dermal ultrasound integrated with superficial radiotherapy to improve tumor visualization. IGSRT is a clinically equivalent non-surgical alternative to Mohs micrographic surgery at 2 years of follow-up in early-stage NMSC, but larger cohort studies with longer follow-up periods that allow for analysis of patient outcomes by demographic and disease characteristics are needed.

Metabolic changes in an organism often occur much earlier than macroscopic manifestations of disease, such as invasive tumors. Therefore, noninvasive tools to monitor metabolism are fundamental as they provide insights into in vivo biochemistry. NMR represents one of the gold standards for such insights by observing metabolites.

Conformational heterogeneity of biological macromolecules is a challenge in single-particle averaging (SPA). Current standard practice is to employ classification and filtering methods that may allow a discrete number of conformational states to be reconstructed. However, the conformation space accessible to these molecules is continuous and, therefore, explored incompletely by a small number of discrete classes.

Purpose: Retraction is the removal of published material due to flaws in research that cannot be corrected. Our aim was to perform a systematic review of all retracted literature in Ear Nose and Throat to understand the characteristics of retraction and the citations of retracted literature.
Methods: The Retraction Watch, EMBASE and MEDLINE databases were systematically searched to yield relevant retractions.
