Purpose: To present a rarely reported systemic infection with (), transmitted from a horse, and to describe successful treatment when complicated by endogenous endophthalmitis.
Observations: We diagnosed suspected septicemia presenting as loss of vision in the right eye of an otherwise healthy polo player/horse trainer. He received immediate intravenous antibiotics and three vitrectomies with two intravitreal antibiotic injections during the first week, to cure infection and subsequent retinal detachment.

As Immune checkpoint inhibitors are being expanded for use in gynecologic malignancies, rare immune-related adverse events are more frequently being reported. Here we describe a 63-year-old with Stage IIIB mismatch repair deficient uterine adenocarcinoma who underwent six cycles of carboplatin and paclitaxel with partial response but persistent disease. She was then started on single agent pembrolizumab.

Myopia, including pathologic myopia, has seen a significant increase in prevalence in recent years. It is a significant cause of irreversible vision loss worldwide and prediction models demonstrate the substantial future impact on the population. With increased awareness and research, it is possible to prevent blindness on a large scale in the younger, productive age group affected by myopic maculopathy (MM).

Introduction: Oral administration of zeaxanthin (Zx) 20 mg daily in patients with unilateral neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) treated with triple therapy (photodynamic therapy/intravitreal bevacizumab/intravitreal dexamethasone) reduced fellow-eye 2-year nAMD incidence from 23 to 6% (p = 0.02) in a prior clinical trial. We questioned the long-term benefit and thus analyzed case-control 5-year patient data of trial participants and additional participants with 5-year follow-up, also performing cost-utility and cost-benefit analyses.

Purpose: A new easy-to-place titanium macular buckle implant and the surgical technique for placing it in myopic macular holes are presented. A 60-year-old patient with pathologic myopia presented with macular holes in both eyes. The hole in the right eye was recurrent and long-standing since the initial diagnosis, which was over 5 years ago.

In February 2013, the Argus® II Retinal Prosthesis System (Second Sight Medical Products, Inc., Sylmar, CA, US) became the first "bionic eye" approved by the FDA to restore useful vision in patients previously blinded by end-stage retinitis pigmentosa, a hereditary, progressive degeneration of the outer retinal photoreceptor cells. The system captures and converts an external optical input into an electrical signal that activates an epiretinal electrode array on the inner surface of the retina.

Purpose: To report a case of bilateral acute macular neuroretinopathy (AMN) associated with a COVID-19 infection.
Observations: A 22-year-old female was referred for evaluation of bilateral scotomas concurrent with a mildly symptomatic COVID-19 infection. Exam showed normal visual acuity, bilateral reddish-brown petaloid retinal lesions which were hyporeflective on near infrared (NIR) optical coherence tomography (OCT), and had associated hypoperfusion of the deep vascular plexus on OCT-angiography (OCT-A) consistent with bilateral AMN.

Purpose: This work evaluates the anatomic and functional outcomes of primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachments (RRDs) with preoperative grade B and C proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) vs eyes without PVR.
Methods: As a multi-institutional, interventional, retrospective study of all patients undergoing primary RRD surgical procedures from January 1, 2015, through December 31, 2015, this study evaluated the visual acuity (VA) outcomes and single-surgery anatomic success rates (SSAS) of patients with primary grade B and C PVR at the time of RRD repair.
Results: A total of 2486 eyes underwent primary RD surgery during the study period, of which 153 eyes (6.

Purpose: There are primarily two techniques for affixing the scleral buckle (SB) to the sclera in the repair of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD): scleral tunnels or scleral sutures.
Methods: This retrospective study examined all patients with primary RRD who were treated with primary SB or SB combined with vitrectomy from January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015 across six sites. Two cohorts were examined: SB affixed using scleral sutures versus scleral tunnels.
Purpose: To report a case of an 86-year-old man with a full thickness macular hole (FTMH) secondary to polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) treated with bevacizumab.
Methods: A retrospective case report is presented.
Results: An 86-year-old male presented with a five-month history of metamorphopsia and decreased vision in his right eye and was found to have active exudation secondary to PCV with a concurrent FTMH.

Purpose: Although polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) is best diagnosed with indocyanine green angiography (ICGA), ICGA is often unavailable or not ordered. OCT is widely available, and OCT B-scan can visualize polypoidal lesions diagnostic of PCV as inverted U-shaped elevations of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) with heterogeneous reflectivity and sometimes ring-shaped lesions within the polypoidal lesion. This study aims to differentiate findings between eyes diagnosed with PCV or typical exudative age-related macular degeneration (AMD) using ICGA and then compares findings noted on the OCT B-scan line scan in each group.

Introduction: Rhegmatogenous retinal detachments with inferior retinal breaks are believed to have a higher risk of recurrent rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. This study compared anatomic and visual outcomes between primary pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) and combination PPV with scleral buckle (PPV/SB) for rhegmatogenous retinal detachments with inferior retinal breaks.
Methods: This is an analysis of the Primary Retinal Detachment Outcomes study, a multi-institutional cohort study of consecutive primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment surgeries from January 1, 2015, through December 31, 2015.

Regularly scheduled intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) injections are essential to maintaining and/or improving many ocular conditions including: neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD), diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusions with macular edema (RVO). This study aims to assess the effect of unintended delays in anti-VEGF treatment during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. This retrospective case series identified patients receiving regularly scheduled anti-VEGF intravitreal injections based on current procedural terminology (CPT) code at two practices in Minnesota.

Background: To report a case of Optic Disc Pit (ODP) maculopathy exacerbated during pregnancy.
Case Presentation: A 30-year-old female developed unilateral blurry vision at 10-weeks gestation. Ophthalmic examination revealed left eye reduced visual acuity (VA) with the presence of subretinal fluid temporal to the disc extending to the fovea.
Purpose: We report the longest follow-up to our knowledge of stable scleral fixation of a posterior chamber intraocular lens (PC IOL) with 10-0 polypropylene sutures.
Methods: A retrospective review is presented of a case with more than 30 years' follow-up after performing sutured scleral fixation with 10-0 polypropylene suture using 2 sutures tied together under a scleral flap. One suture was a cow-hitch looped around the haptic, and the other suture was passed through the sclera to create the scleral fixation.
