Patient-Derived Xenografts (PDXs) are established by implanting a fragment of a patient tumor into rodents either subcutaneously or orthotopically. PDX models faithfully recapitulate the histologic and molecular profile of the donor patient's cancer and are regarded as authentic preclinical models for drug testing, understanding of tumor biology and biomarker discovery. This Chapter describes the detailed method for establishing robust PDXs for endometrial cancer and provide important notes for users of the protocol to consider during PDXs development.

Improved wound diagnosis, optimising wound treatment regimens, and enhanced prevention of wounds aid in providing patients with a better quality of life (QoL). There is significant potential for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in health-related areas such as wound care.

Background: Muscle wasting is pronounced in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). The quadriceps femoris echotexture biomarkers assessed by ultrasound (US) have not been studied in these patients.
Objective: To describe echotexture biomarkers assessed by the US and to assess their relationship with sex, age, body mass index (BMI), self-reported outcomes, muscle strength and physical function in older adults with HFpEF.

Endometrial cancer (EC) patients with metastatic/recurrent disease have limited treatment options and poor survival outcomes. Recently, we discovered the FGFR2c splice isoform is associated with poor prognosis in EC patients. Here we report the establishment of 16 EC patient-derived xenografts (PDX)-derived organoids (PDXOs) with or without FGFR2c expression.

Identifying the regional differences and drivers for carbon reduction of construction and demolition waste (C&DW) recycling is essential to combat climate change. This study aims to calculate the carbon reduction potential for C&DW recycling from 2006 to 2021 in China and investigates the spatial differences and driving factors of carbon reduction potential for C&DW waste by combining the Theil index, Gini coefficient, and geographic detector methods. The carbon reduction potential for C&DW recycling in China was "high in the east and low in the west" overall level, with an average annual growth rate of 6.

Introduction: The Dental Caries Utility Index (DCUI) is a new oral health-specific health state classification system for adolescents, consisting of 5 domains: pain/discomfort, difficulty eating food/drinking, worried, ability to participate in activities, and appearance. Each domain has 4 response levels. This study aims to generate an Australian-specific utility algorithm for the DCUI.

Objective: Antiseptics are widely used in wound management to prevent or treat wound infections, and have been shown to have antibiofilm efficacy. The objective of this study was to assess the effectiveness of a polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB)-containing wound cleansing and irrigation solution on model biofilm of pathogens known to cause wound infections compared with a number of other antimicrobial wound cleansing and irrigation solutions.
Method: and single-species biofilms were cultured using microtitre plate and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) biofilm reactor methods.

Objective: Most surgical wounds heal by primary or secondary intention. Surgical wounds can present specific and unique challenges including wound dehiscence and surgical site infection (SSI), either of which can increase risk of morbidity and mortality. The use of antimicrobials to treat infection in these wounds is prevalent, but there is now an imperative to align treatment with reducing antimicrobial resistance and antimicrobial stewardship (AMS).

Background: Communicable diseases remain a significant global health issue. The increase in refugees and asylum seekers associated with conflicts may alter the burden of communicable diseases in host countries. We conducted a systematic review of the prevalence of TB, HBC, HCV, and HIV among refugees and asylum seekers by regions of asylum and origin.

Aims: This paper aims to assess kinematic parameters related to functional capacity, fatigue, and breathlessness during the 6-min walk test (6MWT) in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF).
Methods And Results: A cross-sectional study was conducted in which adults 70 years or older with HFpEF were voluntarily recruited between April 2019 and March 2020. An inertial sensor was placed at the L3-L4 level and another on the sternum to assess kinematic parameters.

Heart failure (HF)-related factors potentially lead to sarcopenia. Ultrasound (US) assessment has all the advantages of being used in clinical practice to assess muscle architecture. This study aimed to assess the relationship between the quadriceps femoris (QF) muscle architecture with the gender, age, body mass index (BMI), muscle strength and physical function in older adults with HF with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) as well as to assess the difference in these relationships between the two genders.

Despite e-learning's rapid growth and significant benefits, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, retaining students in this educational environment is a critical challenge in the post-corona era. Therefore, our research was conducted to explore how we can promote the continuance use of e-learning (CUEL) platforms. More specifically, this study examines how identity, inertia, and computer self-efficacy affect CUEL.

Introduction: While paediatric critical illness mortality rates in Australia are declining, the growing cohort of paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) survivors means an increasing number of children facing substantial health challenges after their discharge from intensive care. General practitioners (GPs) play a key role in provision of comprehensive health care to children and families and are ideally positioned to provide developmental surveillance and support the care of both the child and family following critical illness.
Methods: An anonymous, cross-sectional survey of 60 GPs, reached via private invitation (19% response) or via social media weblink, was conducted where the GPs were asked about their current confidence and knowledge in managing children post PICU.

Over the last decades, using e-learning systems as an alternative format of education for traditional classroom has been growing in higher education and due to COVID-19 pandemic, this transition has been unprecedently accelerated. Although there is a large body of research on e-learning, little is known about the extent to which innovative and continuous use of e-learning systems can be influenced by students' social and motivational factors especially their relational identity and autotelic experience. This study collected data from 400 higher education students through a survey to explore the role of students' relational identity and autotelic experiences regarding their innovative and continuous use of e-learning systems while considering the mediating role of students' perception of relatedness.

Objective: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) occurs (as a result of misuse, such as over-prescribing) when certain pathogens fail to respond to treatment with antimicrobials. Consequently, patients can become severely ill and possibly die. A strategy referred to as antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) has been introduced which reduces the impact of this antimicrobial misuse.

Heavy tick burden on beef cattle account for huge economic losses globally, with an estimated value of US$22-30 billion per annum. In Australia, ticks cost the northern beef industry approximately A$170-200 million. Methods to evaluate and predict tick resistance would therefore be of great value to the global cattle trade.
